Hello CTY friends, Melinda here with you today sharing my latest scrapbook page using one of my all time favourite CTY files!!
I have wanted to use this adorable squirrel for ages and FINALLY found just the right page! You can pick this little guy up here in the Autumn Page Builder or here in the Squirrel cut file. Either way, he is just adorable!!
As you can see I have used a big photo (this is A4 in size) and cut the squirrel to be the main feature. One of my favourite things about working with cut files is being able to dig into my stash and use whatever I please. Today I chose the Jillibean Soup “Bowl of Dreams” collection to choose my colours and went to backing my file.
As I was backing the file I was inspired to create a little shaker pocket with the acorn! Oh my, so cute! If you have never created a shaker pocket you can see the process in my video below and I will give a brief run down as well!
So, first up, you need to back the piece you want to be your shaker with something clear – think old packaging or acetate. Make sure that is stuck really well! Add foam tape all the way around the shape, making sure they are no gaps! If you have gaps your sequins will fall out! Then you add your sequins into the area/s you want them and seal the back. I have used a pink piece of patterned paper cut to size as I didn’t want the photo showing through. Easy peasy!
With my cut file all backed and my giant photo printed and in place it was a matter of adding a title and any embellishing I wanted. My title went directly onto my photo and I specifically chose this title to tie in with my journalling.
I really wanted that squirrel to be the main feature of the page so I didn’t add too much else except a tiny cluster by the title, my journalling and some gold and white ink splatters.
Oh, I almost forgot!! My very final touch was more of the same sequins scattered across the page. I just love how this turned out! I hope you have enjoyed my share with you today and am already planning my next page!! Until next time, happy scrapping!
