May Your Everyday Sparkle | Melinda Sweetman

Hello my scrappy friends! Melinda here with you today on the CUT to YOU blog sharing my next creation!

Another 12×12 page and this time I chose an older photo of my youngest at his second birthday party. Tell me, where did the time go?! For this page I chose the so so fun May Your Everyday Sparkle cut file available in the store. And over here on Etsy. I just love this title!!

Hunter had asked me to use the CVS Happiness collection with this photo so I started with selecting colours in my Distress Oxide Sprays that I knew would work well. I knew I wanted to customise my cut so I cut that in smooth white cardstock.

The colours I chose were Faded Jeans, Cracked Pistachio, Peeled Paint and Mermaid Lagoon. To customise my cut file all I did was lay it onto a messy mat and spray the 4 colours randomly all over! I also spritzed some water to make the colours blend and run together a little then used my heat tool (and another sheet of smooth white cardstock) to dry it off!

After I chose a background paper I used a little gesso behind where the cut file and photo were going so they would really pop off the page! When my gesso was dried I then applied lots of splatters, following the line of the cut file, onto my background paper using the same Distress Oxide Sprays.

While that was drying I backed the cut file using another pattern paper. I had my cameo cut that for me as well as the stars and there is a bit of a tutorial in my process video below. If you skip forward to 1:45 you will get straight to the tutorial part.

I backed my photo with some vellum from my stash and used a few pieces from the ephemera pack to finish off. With the big cut file taking up so much room on the page I really didn’t feel like I needed to add too much more!

My journalling and the date got added to a couple of a labels and tucked into the layers at the top of the page. My very final touch was some sparkly aqua-ish coloured stars and my page is done!

I really love this! The colours I have used paired with this beautiful cut file and photo of my baby just look so so good together! Thanks boss lady for your sharing your creativity with us all! Until next time, happy scrapping!
