Beautiful You | Marie Hirst

Hi everyone! It’s Marie and I’m back again with my newest layout for CUT to YOU. This time I decided to use two cutfiles: Flower Crown and Beautiful You because I have had this photo of my little boy for a while now and was really inspired by the beautiful florals and that gorgeous sentiment.

Here are the cutfiles I used:

The first thing I did was cut the Flower Crown cutfile twice leaving one whole and cutting the flowers from the other. I then backed the individual flowers with vellum and the ones still on the ring in different shades of bluey-green.

I used distress oxides to colour the words ‘Beautiful You’ before removing it from my cutting mat.

After covering my cardstock with gesso, I then used the same distress oxides mixed with some water to create a wash of colour behind where I was going to place the cutfile. I also added some splatters for effect.

I matted the photo with vellum and cheesecloth and mounted it on some foam to add a little dimension. I did the same with the flower crown. The vellum flowers were adhered straight to the page with wet glue.

For that final bit of detail I added Nuvo drops and some sequins in the same shades.

If you’d like to see how it all came together, there is a full process video on my channel.

Thank you for stopping by and be sure to check out the many cutfiles in the shop!

Until next time, happy scrapping,

Marie x
