Be Still My Heart | Melinda Sweetman

Hello my scrappy friends and welcome to the CTY blog today! Melinda here with you and I am sharing my first make for August 2019!! Seriously, August already?!?? Anyway, onto what I’m sure you are here for, my layout!

I actually started this page last month with one of the July cut files called Spring Roses Cut and Stitch, available here in the store!

I created this very pretty and feminine page and I really love how it turned out! So different for me but who said different was bad?!

I started by separating the cut file pieces – that is making the stitching holes one compound path and the roses a separate compound path so I could cut them one at a time. I knew I wanted to work on a white background so I had the Cameo cut the stitch holes directly onto that for me and then cleared my mat and had the Cameo cut the roses on pattern paper.

I desperately wanted to do the Chain Link stitch so found a minty coloured embroidery floss and got to work. I love, love, love the texture that hand stitching adds to a page and this particular stitch takes it to a whole new level *swoon*

I added a little extra to my background with a stencil and some light modelling paste, being careful not to get any paste onto the hand stitching. And because it’s me I HAD to add splatters. I’ve used a couple of pinks – one light and one darker for contrast – and gold, of course 😉

When that was all dry (which didn’t take long) I adhered my Spring Roses with some pop dots and added a few ephemera pieces, paper layers and stickers.

I really felt like I wanted a little something down in the bottom under my photo but didn’t want anything really in your face! I dove into my CTY folder on my computer and came across the Oh So Lovely cut file and decided to cut it at a smallish size to fit in the space.

To finish off I added my journalling (which tied in beautifully with the “Oh So Lovely”), date and used some Nuvo Crystal drops around the page for some extra texture and a pop of gold.

If you’d like to see my process you can watch my video below or head over to my YT channel.

Thanks for stopping by and make sure you head over to the shop to check out not only all of the beautiful-ness from last month but the absolutely gorgeous NEW August files!! Until next time, happy scrapping!
