The Best Days are at the Beach | Marie Hirst

Hi CUT to YOU friends! I’m back today with my latest layout using this fabulous cutfile which you can find here!

I chose this one because of the mix of fonts as I think it really highlights the words ‘best’ and ‘beach’. My little boy loves the beach (and always has) so this was a perfect one to document one of our many visits. This particular one was from a few years ago.

First I cut the file 10 inches tall and then left it on the mat while I used distress oxides to colour the words ‘best’ and ‘beach’. Inevitably, the colour spread onto some of the other letters but I think this left the cutfile with a lovely ombre effect.

I decided not to back the cutfile and instead to use this photo-like paper from Kasiercraft which matched my photos perfectly (especially the horizon line).

I matted my photos on white and placed them to the right of the cutfile. I added some little frames behind and then some typed words above and below the photographs to embellish.

For a bit more detail, I placed a photo overlay on each photo and then a perspective between the two photos. The final addition was the word ‘unplug’ which seemed to fit perfectly with the beach theme and added a darker piece to the page.

I hope this has inspired you to maybe try using a cutfile in a different way – this one speaks for itself! You can find it in the shop here along with many other designs – just click here to take a look!

If you’d like to see how it all came together, there is a process video on my channel!

Until next time, happy crafting!
