Oh Snap! | Melinda Sweetman

Hello scrappy friends, it’s lovely to have you here on the CUT to YOU blog with me today! I am sharing another 12×12 page with you this was super fun to make!

I’ve used 2 cut files on this page ( so fun!!) and started with one for a back ground! As soon as I saw the Quilt Grid 2 Background cut file I knew I wanted to create a stencil and had seen someone recently share that they had used some repositionable sticky vinyl and thought that was genius!

For my stencil I have actually copied and welded 2 of the cut files together to give me a bigger stencil and you can see that in the beginning of my process video, below!

I have used my stencil with some texture paste onto some Bazzill Marshmallow cardstock as I knew I wanted to add lots of colour and water. Tip! The stickyness made using this stencil so so easy! I picked up a cheap roll at Spotlight a few weeks ago. This cut file is quiet delicate so it did break in a couple of places when I cleaned it because I was too rough, so remember, when you clean something like this, be gentle lol

When my paste was completely dried I added my messy factor and just had fun! For this page I have basically used mists that I have splattered and then added water to move the colour around. Pretty easy really and it’s almost magical watching the colours move and blend.

Once I was happy with the way the background was looking I dried it off with my heat tool and then splattered all the colours I had used.

At this stage I was actually not sure at all which photos I was going to use so went through my stash and found these 2 of my crazy child! I felt the colours worked well and there wasn’t really a theme to either the photos or the background so time to build my layout.

I searched through my CTY files for a suitable title and found the “Oh Snap!” title which I though would work really well! I made it big and then also cut a few more smaller, removing the heart from each of the speech bubbles. These were all cut on textured white cardstock.

With my title and photos chosen and my background complete I reached for my Cocoa Vanilla Studio Boys Rule collection. I backed my title cut file and pulled a few pieces to embellish around the page with. And used the smaller “Oh Snap!” cut files as embellishments.

My final steps were some enamel shapes and some black splatters. This was a super fun page to put together and I’m really excited about my stencil! I can’t wait to make another! Remember, the CUT to YOU cut files aren’t only good for backing but the only limit is your imagination – or using an idea you got somewhere else lol!!

Just because I got a bit snap happy here are a few extra close ups 😉

I hope you’ve enjoyed my share today, I can’t wait to come back next month with some of the beautiful new files that I know are coming! If you’re not already on the list make sure you subscribe for all the CTY fun stuff and freebies straight to your inbox! Stay tuned and happy scrapping!
