Hi Everyone! It’s Marie back on the blog today sharing my latest layout for CUT to YOU! I happened to take these photos on a little holiday we had back in August (oh my – doesn’t that feel like ages ago!) and was inspired to use this awesome background cutfile from the shop.
Both the photographs and the cutfile had a real Mediterranean feel to me (even though we were in the North of England!) and the cutfile reminded me of Moroccan tiles so I decided to use it as my background. I cut the file from a sheet of 12×12 Mylar (plastic stencil material) so that I could use it again and then used white modelling paste to create the pattern. I did this quite messily and didn’t go right to the edges – I wanted lots of texture.
I had already primed my page (a sheet of Marshmallow cardstock) with clear gesso so when the paste was dry I added water and then watered down acrylic paint in blue and green to create the colourful background. I let the paint run around and also added plenty of splatters too!
My photos were printed 3×4 and I matted them on a couple of different patterned papers – a paper with lots of typed summer-themed words and a black and white stripey paper.
I embellished the page with ephemera from the Pinkfresh Studio Out and About Range which is all travel themed so I was able to use lots of the pieces.
I added dimension by lifting the photos and some of the ephemera pieces up on foam and adding a few puffy stickers too!
For the title, I used a perspective and some little white foam alphas and I am so pleased with how it turned out!
Be sure to pop by the shop as there are so many other cutfiles that can also be used in this way!
Until next time, happy scrapping!
