Bring On 2019 | Melinda Sweetman

Hello everyone and welcome to the CUT to YOU blog! This is my last share here for this year and funnily enough I am sharing my final page in our 2018 December Daily album!

I’ve used the TN 2019 Best Yet cut file which I have re-sized to be a little shorter than 8″ tall.

I also worked on both sides of this cut file and used that as the “base” for both the front and back sides. I did include a “how-to” video in my process video which you can watch below but I will also step you through the process! I have cut the file twice for this page to come together the way I wanted it to.

For the front page I wanted to use a photo but I also wanted for the 2019 to be read the correct way when you turned the page so I flipped the cut file on the vertical line so I was working with backwards numbers for the front.

Next I wanted only the outline of the cut file so I released the compound path and deleted all of the internal number lines making sure to not delete the lines between the numbers. I had already edited my photo and re-sized in Photo Shop so I simply dragged the photo into Silhouette Studio and dropped it into the backwards 2019 cut file. I then printed that on my printer with the Registration Marks on and sent it through my Cameo.

Now time to work on the back! I had duplicated the file before I did anything for either side so working with the second file I then copied that so I could get my Cameo to cut the internal pieces of the 2019. Again, I right clicked and Removed Compound Path. This time however I deleted the entire outline piece and all of the internal pieces so I was only left with the numbers 2019. I then did an external off set on the numbers and made the offset big enough that all the pieces overlapped and cut me one file.

Time to assemble and it was simply a matter of adhering the internal number pieces to the outline of the 2019 and then adhering the photo to the back of that. Easy peasy!! I punched some holes so it would fit into my album and added a few embellishments and journalling and my 2018 DD album is DONE!! Yay!

And here is a final shot of the page as it sits in the album.

I really had a lot of fun using this file in a different way and love then end result! I hope I have inspired you to think a little out of the box for your next creation using a CUT to YOU file!! Remember, there is always fun new designs in the store and that Gwen will cut and ship ANYWHERE if you don’t have your own machine – just select the “Custom Cut” version in the store!!

I have had so much fun sharing again this year for Gwen and can’t wait to see what the New Year brings!! Make sure you are signed up for the newsletter 😉

Until next time, happy scrapping!
