Sweet Easter Treats 2019 | Melinda Sweetman

Hello there CUT to YOU family, Melinda here with you today sharing a sweet Easter 2019 layout that I created.

I’ve used 2 Easter cut files from last year and they are Easter Basket Background and Easter Blessings (extra eggs!!) and they are so adorable!!

First up I cut the Easter Basket pretty big using one of the new Legendary by Cocoa Vanilla Studio pattern papers.

After that cut I realised all the bits would be in dark brown wood grain!! This was not the look I wanted so went back into Silhouette Studio to do some cropping and fiddly changes. I did record this process for you so scroll further down for the full process video. But I cut that in smooth white cardstock and overlaid that onto the first cut I did.

I also had my Cameo cut the backing pieces for the basket, the bow and the eggs in the basket which you can also see in my video! Though it was fiddly and somewhat time consuming it was so easy to just add glue and stick rather than trace, cut, stick, trim!

I had done the bulk of my design work in Silhouette Studio so I knew where my main elements were going. I chose this gorgeous CVS pattern paper “Radiant” from the More Than Words collection for my background as I loved the pastel rainbow stripes and my basket looked so good on it! I’ve used all CVS papers to back my cut files too – from a bunch of different collections. In fact, there are 4 different collections here and I love how well they all work together!

Because most of the design work was done I was able to stick down all my pieces pretty much straight away and get onto the last bits of putting this page together. I started with my title which I used some yellow thickers for and some pink puffy alpahs. The thickers were a bit too bright so I smudged some white gesso over the top to bring the colour back down a little.

Using a punch from my stash in an egg shape I created 2 smaller clusters to compliment what I already had on the page. And I topped those little clusters with a little bunny shape punched from more pattern paper.

Finally to finish off my page I added in my journalling in grey pen, some puffy heart stickers and some white splatters. You can see my whole process in the video below and I do hope you enjoy!

I really love how this page came out, it’s not often I will say “better than I envisioned” but I will with this one! I love these 2 gorgeous cut files, available here and here in the store, and the soft Easter/Spring (though Easter is Autumn here in AU lol) feel to the page!

Until next time, happy scrapping and I hope that this weekend, even if you are in isolation and had to change plans, you are with those you love the most, enjoying time together and that the Easter Bunny visits you this Sunday!!
