Hello Everyone! Sara with you today with a fun twist on a current crafting trend- slimline cards. I love to make cards and while I don’t often share them online, I felt like Cut To You cut files would fit so well on these size cards I had to try a few! And by a few..well..I ended up making four so let’s start sharing them!
Slimline Cards are 31/2 X 81/2 so I made sure to cut the files to a size that would comfortably fit in those dimensions. I used some nice heavyweight bright white cardstock so I could add layers of embossing powder and ink on top of the files without them ripping. I wanted to the cut files on my cards to have a glossy, metallic, copper shimmer.
To achieve that gorgeous, smooth copper, I added layers and layers of embossing powder, heat setting between each layer till I atcheived the desired look, depth, and smoothness I wanted. Most of the cut files got 3 layers…some got four. You can’t even tell they are paper anymore! Once the main elements were heat embossed, creating the rest of the card was easy. I pulled out my favorite fall collection from last year and used the scraps and leftover embellishments to create the cards. I still really love these patterns and images. Creating the cards to set off the embossed cut files was fun and easy!I used two cut files from the shop, the Thank You Cut File ( This set comes with 3 files and I made three of my cards from this one set) and the Book Stack Backgrond ( I sized this one down and it still cut and worked perfectly! ) There are soo many cut files that would work for cardmaking in the SHOP. i think the tag files would be amazing on cards and sized correctly, the TN files would be awesome for more slimlines.
I have a video for you showing my embossing process for the cards too!
