Today, I wanted to create something a little bit different…I love using cut files in various sizes all combined on the same layout so I decided to share a little about that today. The shapes on this layout started as the Gems cut file but I decided that I wanted them to be stars instead so with just a little cutting, I was able to completely change the shapes!
By cutting these cut file circles in a few different sizes, it allowed me to create a really fun and varied diagonal foundation for my layout. I then backed them with a variety of gorgeous patterned papers to really create a bright and bold design. Just like with my project earlier this month, I paired up the white cut files with a darker patterned paper background because I just love how that seems to make everything really pop.
Once I had my cut files all cut in different sizes, I used my scissors to trim away the outside edge leaving me with a bunch of different shapes of stars. This was perfect for my photo of my son being a sparklers expert for the new year. I then simply set to work creating layers with a bunch of patterned papers, tickets, labels, and pieces of ephemera.
I created a fun layered title using some foam adhesive strips and then added just a touch of journaling peeking out from my patterned paper layers. For finishing touches, I added a few burlap stars, puffy stars, and enamel dots. Then, I simply used a few gold ink splatters to tie the look together. Easy peasy!
I hope that you enjoyed seeing how easy it was to alter this set of cut file gems to get a whole different look instead. I want to challenge you to pair up cut files with some dark patterned paper for a fun and bold look this month!
