I don’t know about you guys but I absolutely LOVE cut files from black cardstock. If you get to know me, you will know that pops of black on scrapbook layouts just totally make my day! SO….cutting this My Kind of Messy cut file from black cardstock was a no brainer. Another thing that I totally adore is cutting up my cut files. I know that that immediately raises the anxiety of some creatives but for me, I just love the variety of looks I can create when I cut up my files.
Seriously…this My Kind of Messy Cut File is just the perfect cut file because it looks great in any color, matches every single collection, and will work for any kind of photos! That checks all the boxes for me! I started with mine sized for a 12×12 layout and then I cut it in parts so that I could layer one part diagonally on the upper left of the layout and then have a little piece left over to use on the bottom right corner. I added dimensional adhesive behind my cut file so that it would have even more dimension.
I wanted to create a way to hang some stickers so I simply took some small pieces of black and white twine and used them as my hangers in the embellishment clusters. This makes it look like the stars and hanging off of the dimensional cut file. I then added a nice large title in white right over the top of my photo which is another favorite strategy of mine! Titles on top of photos….perfection!
As a finishing detail, I simply added some torn Washi tape behind my photo layers as well as a few additional stickers. Adding just a few small details really lets my cut file stand out which is perfect because it matches my daughter’s jacket which draws your eye right back to the photo.
I love using cut files (especially cut from black cardstock) to really create an impactful look on my layouts! Do you ever cut your cut files from a material other than white cardstock? What is your favorite to use? I would love to hear!
