Hello friends! It’s Clair here today and I’m thrilled to join Cut To You as a Guest Designer. As a scrapbooker, I often find that I have no idea what season I’m in – I’ll be scrapbooking spring photographs in late summer, just as I’m ordering my Christmas supplies! It can be a little confusing, so recently, I’ve decided to just work on what I want and, over the next few days, I have a little tour of the seasons to offer you!
I’ll start with my favourite – spring – and I have the beautiful Spring Garden Title cut file to help me. This file combines my absolute favourite Cut To You elements – Titles and Florals! Is there anything better?
For this file, I hauled out the collection that reminds me most of spring – the truly wonderful Bloom Street Collection from Paige Evans. It’s full of beautiful florals, leaves and softer colours that I knew would work well with the cut file. As my layouts are usually 9×12, I re-sized the cut file (to around 6.5 inches wide) so that it would sit centrally. I love how easy it is to resize the Cut To You files and how, even at the smaller sizes, there’s still lots of room to add a backing without it being really fiddly! 🙂
I used one patterned paper in the centre of each flower, as I felt this would ‘connect’ them all, then backed the remainder of each flower with a different paper from the collection. To finish the cut file, I chose a bolder colour as a ‘base’.
I tucked a photograph of my little cat (we have two!) beneath some of the florals on the file, then added the cut file to my background. (You can see how I created this in the video on my YouTube Channel.)
To finish off the layout, I added lots of fussy cut florals, butterflies and leaves in little clusters. Then, added a ‘hello’ sticker from the Bloom Street Collection to complete my title. All done!
