Hello Everyone! Melly here again, sharing my second layout with you! For this project I used the “Book Happiness” design to document reading my all time favorite book series! I had so much fun playing with this cut file, using numerous techniques.
I started off by using a setting in Silhouette Studio to create a shadow effect, cutting the original file in white, and the shadow effect in the black.
For my background, I choose a premade mixed media, from Color Study, prompting me to use that collection for this layout. For the book part, I used one of my favorite paper, the one with all the fun scripted words on it.
Continuing down the cut file, I used patterns to back the “Happiness” part of the design passing over to the “BOOK”, I used the washi tape to cover the negative pieces from the white part and added foam pop dots for when I attach them to the final layout. Going back up, I used gold paint and water and created that gold edge that you find on older, classics. Using an array of colors from Nuvo Jewel Drops, I went around the letters. Going down I used Ivory and white crystal drops, and finally I used glitter drops for “book”.
For my background, I added some addition mixed media, using black paper glaze, and a scripted stencil. I pulled out some of the embellishments, some butterflies I wanted to fussy cut, flair, sequins, and some phrase pieces. I also wanted to add some journaling to document the number of books, the overall number of pages and the time it took to read them all. To do that, I used the striped tabbed piece for hidden journaling.
I had so much designing for Gwen and sharing my projects with you! Perhaps I’ll be back to share some more of my creations with you! Til then you can find me on Facebook and Instagram.
