CUT to YOU | Gemstone Circle | “A Lego Heartlove” | Melinda Sweetman

Hello CUT to YOU friends and welcome to the blog today!! Melinda here with you sharing my latest scrapbook layout and I hope that it helps to inspire you!

Once again I had some help choosing my cutfile for this one and I’m using the “Gemstone Background” today.

For something a bit fun & different I decided to foil this in a diagonal pattern on my background with my Foil Quill. I just love the gold foil on Kraft cardstock!! But it is super hard to get good photos of the foil so this one is the best I could get!

I had these 2 photos of my youngest from 2020 which I turned black & white except for the “Lego heartlove” and thought they were perfect for this background.

With my cut file and photos chosen I just needed to choose a collection to work with. I ended up going with my “stash” collection in red, kraft and aqua colours and chose lots of bits & pieces.

To my surprise this page turned into a mixed media design starting with some ink blending and a stencil.

Next up some stamping with black ink and also some super old rub ons, which to my surprise worked beautifully!!!

A couple of layers behind my photo (from my box of scraps, of course!), a title and a few small embellishments and all I have left to do is my journaling!!

I thoroughly enjoyed creating this page starting with just my background foiled design and no idea where to next! You can see it come together below or on my YT channel.

Do you ever start a page with only a background or cut file design in mind and then work out the rest or do you tend to pick your photo first? My challenge to you is start the opposite way you would normally and if you’re starting with a cut file this beauty is one of my new faves (though I’m sure it’s totally NOT new lol).

That’s it from me for today!! I hope you enjoyed my share and if you take on my challenge please tag me if you share on socials anywhere!!

Until next time, happy scrapping! Mel xx
