CUT to YOU | Too Cool for School Cut File | Level Up! | Melinda Sweetman

Hi & hello CUT to YOU friends!! Melinda here with you today sharing my most recent creation using a super fun cut file!

I’m using the “Too Cool for School” cut file in a bit of a different way today and I hope it inspires you to think a little differently about how you’ll use your next cut file!

So, for this one I used a sparkly blue gel pen in my Cameo Pen Holder, copied and re-sized my cut file multiple times and hit the send button to create my own unique background! And, I must say, I really, really love the look and effect this has!

I did a lot of stash busting for this one and chose to pick up on the blues and greens in my boys school uniform and added in a pop of yellow. Almost all of my paper layers are from an Elle’s Studio 6.5″ x 8″ Paper Stack and I’ve added in stickers from all different manufactuers and years!!

When I had all of this stacked onto my background I decided I needed something more in the background so grabbed a star stencil and some Colour Blast Colour Paste in Deep Water. Next some stamping with a Prima texture stamp and Hickory Smoke Archival Ink. And my final layer was splatters in grey, blue and yellow.

I love the way that all of these different, and somewhat random, pieces work together to create this fun page!

My title was built using 2 different fonts and I guess seems a little random but it makes total sense in my head lol
I chose “Level Up!” because this boy of mine already did show up every single day and try his hardest at EVERYTHING he tried but was beginning to struggle with his sight. A trip to the optomotrist for an eye test and some glasses shopping a couple of weeks earlier led to him choosing his new specs with no guidance apart from what felt right to him! So, now he can see properly surely the only way left to go is up, right?!?

I have made a process video for you while I created this page and I hope that you’ll watch and enjoy!

It took me a little while to choose how I wanted to use this cut file & I am so happy I just embraced the process to come up with this idea!

Another idea I had was to pick a cut file to hand stitch. Obviously, the idea of sketching won but I think I just might go on the hunt for a cut file to hand stitch next! Watch this space…
And in case you didn’t know already, Gwen even has a few “stitching” cut files in the shop already! Check them out here!

I hope you’ve enjoyed my share today & happy scrapping until next time!
