“September Showers” | April Shower Title | Nicole Bingaman

Hello Cut To You crew! Today I am sharing a layout I created with the April Shower Title cut file from the online shop.

I traced the April Shower file in my Silhouette studio software and I used the knife tool to cut off the “april” portion of the title piece after I realized the photos I had printed where actually from September. I cut the file with textured white cardstock and used a mix of patterns papers to back the “showers” portion and the two umbrellas.

When I am working a specific theme, in this case “rain”, I know that I won’t have a specific paper collection to pull from so I just dig through my scraps and come up with a color palette that I think will work. In this case I used a mix of soft pinks and aquas to use as the base for my “rain” theme.

From there I like to stash dive and see what I can find to mix in. I found some tabs, clear hearts, tags and even a cloud and sun to mix in with my papers.

My layout base paper was very thin, so I chose to use the same white textured cardstock to make it sturdier and trimmed the woodgrain cardstock smaller to allow for a white border to show. I then used a score board to create an embossed line around the entire layout to create a textured frame.

I always try to remember to stamp the date of my photos somewhere on the layout, and it’s usually in the lower right corner so I can quickly locate it when I go to put layouts into albums. I used one of the thin labels I found in my stash to stamp the date on and layered it over my photo collage. I then used some nuvo drops to add drops around the layout and further support my theme.
To help bring in some interest to the empty upper corner I found this cute phrase card and used a tiny attacher to staple it to the background from more texture.

I have a process video available below showing how I put the layout together and share a little bit about how I plan my layouts using Cut To You files.
