Go Go Go | Tamara Buckler

Hello CTY friends,

I’m up on the blog today sharing a layout I created recently at retreat. This layout was one of those ones where you have to trust the journey, because at some points it looked like a hot mess!

I have used the Heart Drop Cut File which is surprisingly a new one for me, and I’ve cut the file out in black card stock. I decided I wanted to mimic the rainbow colours in the patterned paper of my hearts on my background, so set about with some water colour to do that.

This is where things started to go a bit pear shaped, with so many colours things we’re starting to get a bit muddied. I persevered, as you often need to do with mixed media, and worked to add additional contrast and dimension by adding back stamping, doodling and splatters.

I popped the main pieces of the cut file up on foam, layered my photos on top, and in the end you can only see hints of my mixed media poking through. I feel like it looks like the colours are melting out from the cut file, and I’m totally here for that effect.

I kept my embellishing pretty simple because there was already a lot going, and chose to use a bit contrasting title as my main element. I feel like this gives the eye somewhere to rest, and works to settle down the busyness of the page.

Thanks again for stopping by, we really do appreciate your visits! Make sure you pop by the shop to check out the latest releases, Gwen is adding new files in there all the time!

Until next time,

Big Loves, Tam xo
