Noughts and Crosses | Ali Skifton

Love is the air! It is Ali here with you today sharing a Valentine’s Day layout using the Noughts and Crosses cut file.

I had so much fun creating with this cut file, I just love how it turned out! I used a heavier white cardstock paper to cut the file out of so I could sew on my grid with black thread. I backed filled the hearts with photos of my husband and me celebrating Valentine’s Day last year at a cute little diner. I used Elle’s Studio, Love you collection to fill out the x’s and o’s. I embellished the cut file with stickers from Elle’s Studio and a cute little pink bow on the bottom o.

To create the background I used Tim Holtz inks to match the papers and splotched the background with a sticker package wrapper. I then splatted some of the same color ink onto my background.

For the sides of my layout I took multiple different papers from my 6 x 8 paper pack and tore them into little strips. I roughed them up with my scissors and over lapped my patterns to create the side borders.

Wishing everyone a Happy Valentine’s Day! Have fun creating!

Love, Ali xoxo

Blissful | Ali Skifton

Hello My CTY friends! It is Ali here with you today sharing a layout I created using the Stained Glass cut file. I was beyond excited when I saw this cut file that Gwen created that matched the stain glass window in my picture.

There are so many different options on how to create a layout with this cut file and I spent hours thinking about all of them before I decided to commit. I was first thinking about back filling the cut file with yellow and blue vellum paper and looked every where for the blue vellum and couldn’t find it. So then I decided to use the cut file as a stencil. I picked Tim Holtz’s scattered straw and salvaged patina distress inks to create the stain glass background.

After inking my background using the cut file as a stencil, I glued it onto my cardstock. I then laid a 12 x 12 sheet of vellum over the cut file to soften the look so it matched the window behind me in the picture. I just love the soft effect it gives off. To hold the vellum down I stitched around it with gold thread.

I matted my photo with a thin border of white and red cardstock. I embellished the left side of the photo with pretty white and gold flowers and leaves from Prima. I used gold Thickers letters for my title and love how subtle this layout looks. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did creating it.

I would love to see what you create with this cut file. Make sure to post in the Facebook group and happy creating!

Love, Ali

Happy New Year | Ali Skifton

Happy New Year my fellow crafters! I am sharing one of the latest and greatest cut files that Gwen created to ring in 2022!

Jeff and I celebrate New Year’s Day with my parents every year. My Mom always makes a fantastic dinner and we usually have a champagne toast to ring in the new year. This year we toasted with these beautiful cupcakes. I was so inspired by the gold and black colors and wanted the title to compliment the cupcake toppers.

I decided to cut the file with black cardstock and used gold glitter paper to back this awesome title cut file. I love how it stands out. I used foam tape to pop the title on my page. If you are using glitter paper make sure you use a strong glue. I used Nuvo glue and it works perfect with any cut files.

The paper and stickers I used are from multiple Hip Kit Club kits. That star paper just compliments the occasion and picture.

I want to wish everyone a safe and healthy new year! Let us hope that 2022 is better than the last two years. Happy New Year!

Love, Ali xoxo

25 Days of Christmas | Fast, Fun and Festive Scrapbook Ideas | Day 20

Happy holidays CTY peeps! It is Ali here back with you sharing another day of Christmas inspiration.

As soon as I saw the candy cane cut file I knew it would be perfect for the photo of me that was taken in Chicago last Christmas. The hotel decorated their lobby so beautifully. I fell in love with the candy cane section and decided to duplicate this cut file to frame the picture. I reverse one image of the cut file and then cut the bow off one of the candy canes.

I used red velvet paper and white glitter paper to back my candy canes and love the texture and sparkle that they add to my layout. So soft and sparkly. I used foam tape to pop my candy canes and centered my photo in between them.

I used the new Christmas collection from Felicity Jane and love the candy cane paper that frames my layout. I also used a black Christmas tree and stars to embellish my layout.

25 Days of Christmas | Fast, Fun and Festive Scrapbook Ideas | Day 3

Happy December! It is Ali here today sharing another wonderful Christmas cut file that is in the shop. The design team members are so excited to be be sharing 25 days of Christmas inspiration.

I choose the Merry and Bright cut file to work with for Day 3. I decided to create a non traditional Christmas layout using the cut file. I selected a Doodlebug Design rainbow sheet of paper to cut the Merry and Bright out of,. I love how this paper matches my hat in the picture. I centered the cut file in the center of the paper so I could have a thick border for my layout. Once it was cut I glued the cut file flat on a piece of white cardstock. I then used foam tape on the back of my border to pop the frame on the layout. I also used foam tape on the back of the word AND and the star in the cut file.

I matted the photo with a solid pink paper and embellished the photo with a heart die cut and snowman doodle pop. I went back and sprinkled some enamel dots around the title.

I hope you feel inspired to use different colors to scrap your holiday photos this year. You are not limited to just using the traditional colors red and green.

But First Hot Cocoa | Ali Skifton

Happy weekend my fellow scrapbookers! It is Ali here with you today sharing a cozy winter layout. Snow is on it’s way in Wisconsin and I am ready for the Hot Cocoa Season.

I used the Simple Stories collection Holly Days to back up the cut file. I used the same paper for the title and embellished the center of my letters with enamel dots. I added a cute hot cocoa mug die cut to the top of the title.

I had so much fun with the hot cocoa mug. I backed it with cute pink, red and white stripe paper and used white glitter paper for the whip cream. I just love the sparkle it gives to the cut file. I embellished my mug with a poinsettia and layered a cute bear with a candy cane in his hand on top of the mug.

As always, I added foam tape to the back of the cut file and gave the layout some dimension. I tucked part of the title and hot coca mug into the snow I made out of glitter paper. It gives the layout a cozier feeling.

Well I am going to make myself a cup of hot cocoa and sit by a fire. Thanks for joining me today and happy creating!

Happy Fall Y’All! | Ali Skifton

Hi my CTY friends! It is Ali, @funadventrueswithali here with you today sharing a Fall layout using the new Autumn Acorn cut file. I had so much fun creating those acorn shakers. I feel they compliment the cute photo of my Aunt and Uncle attending Oktoberfest.

I first backed the leaf since that was an easy big piece to do. I then backed the top of the acorns and proceeded to cut some acetate out for the front of the acorns. Once the acetate was glued, I used thin strips of foam tape to outline the bottom halves of the acorns. I filled them with pretty fall sequins from SpiegelMom Scraps. After making sure they were filled enough I sealed it with more of the wood paper I used to back the tops with. I just adore how these acorn shakers turned out on this page.

I used the Fall collection from Echo Park Paper and had fun adding little enamel white dots around the acorns and leaf to pop them even more. For the background I used a mixed media cardstock from Vicki Boutin that matched the colors I used for the cut file.

I matted my layout four times, just to bring in all the colors that are in the leaves paper I used. I added a heart flair from Scrappin Happy Studio that says Feeling of Fall. This is my favorite season and I just love all the color changes that happen during this time.

Happy Fall Y’All!

Sleep, Snack, Snap, Scrap! | Ali Skifton

Hello! It is Ali here with you today sharing a fun layout using this awesome Sleep Snack Snap Scrap Cut File cut file that honors our hobby and passion. Erica and I had so much fun at her holiday crop that she puts on every year and this cut file covers everything we did that weekend including our Starbucks run!

Since it was a Christmas crop I wanted to use the new Simple Stories Make It Merry collection. I backed each word of the cut file with a different holiday pattern paper and used the enamel brads to highlight each word. I decorated around the cut file and on top of some of the letters with stickers and enamel brads.

I printed four different pictures of us taken that weekend that went with each word of the cut file. I double matted the four pictures and added a few more stickers on top of them. I also added a grouping of some stickers and flair from Scrappin Happy Studio on the bottom of the page.

I had so much creating this fun layout that documents our passion for this great hobby! I have met so many great people through this hobby and it brings me much joy that I can share my creations with all of you!

Happy Haunting | Ali Skifton

Hello my spooky CTY friends! It is Ali here with you today sharing a spooky layout using the Jack o’ lantern cut file that is currently in the shop. As soon as I saw Jack I knew he would be perfect for the haunted hike we did last Halloween at Phantom Lake. He reminded me of the huge Jack o’ lantern in the woods we came across during our spooky hike.

I wanted to cut Jack out of black cardstock since it is a Halloween layout. I used the new Halloween Party collection from Echo Park Paper to back fill Jack. I used 4 different patterned papers to make him a little more friendly looking than so scary. I back filled his eyes and mouth with colored paper from the collection since his body was busy with the other patterns. I used foam tape to add dimension to Jack.

Since I added Jack to another patterned paper I decided to keep it simple with other embellishments. I wanted the focus to be on Jack. I did add some black hand stitching on the white cardstock to frame him.

I triple matted this cut file and love how he is the main focus of this page, along with the spooky picture of his twin. Mwahahahaahhh! I hope everyone has a spooky Halloween Season and make sure to pick up this guy because you can use him for any of your Halloween Pictures this year!

Happy haunting my spooky friends!

Love, Ali xoxo

Together | Ali Skifton

Hello my crafty CTY friends! I am so ready for Fall and couldn’t wait to scrap our apple picking pictures with this amazing Geo Triangles cut file. I was so excited to use the new Cocoa Vanilla Collection, These Days that matched perfectly with the colors in our apple orchard photo.

I know some of these cut files can be intimidating on how to back them up, but just remember there is no right or wrong way to do it. Each one is a creation of its own. I started backing up the triangles going from top, left to right and working down. I love how this cut file displays all their lovely patterned papers in this collection.

I added foam tape to the back to give the layout some dimension. I also added flowers, stickers and a cute button that says Love you! What I love the most is when I matted the whole cut file with this beautiful soft paper. I love how it borders and frames the square cut file.

I hope you all enjoy this layout as much as I love that Fall is on it’s way! I am over this very hot, humid and dry summer. Bring on the apples, pumpkins, colors, leaves, caramel apples, everything Fall!
