The Big 1-5! | Meggy Blethen

Hello scrapbookers!! I am back today using one of the new releases and I’m so excited to show you this layout!!

My oldest just turned 15 2 weeks ago and it was a little rough! How the heck is he that old?!!! I knew when I saw this TN Numbers cut file that I wanted to use it on a layout about his 15th birthday.

I know what you’re thinking… “But Megan, this is a TN cut file. You can’t use that on a 12×12 layout!!” I am here to show you how you can totally use a TN cut file on a full size layout. And it looks stunning, doesn’t it?!!

I am really loving the white on white look right now so I cut out my file on white and added some splatters behind it to bring a little more attention to that side of the layout..

I wanted to highlight the “1” & the “5” so I backed only those two numbers with purple paper and then watercolored the numbers with a dark purple to make them pop.

My sons favorite color is purple and I LOVE that he’s not afraid to like a “girl” color. I made sure to pick out some fun purple patterned papers to go on this layout for him.

I didn’t do a lot of embellishing on this layout because it doesn’t really need much. I added the black machine stitching last when the layout still needed a black pop of color. I love how that turned out!!

One of my favorite parts of this layout is the stencil I used to add another design on the background. I used an older cut file, Triangle Pinwheel Background, that I had made into a stencil and my Amy Tangerine water colors. I then outlined some of the triangles and added some Morning Dew Drops sequins.

I love using these background type cut files as a stencil! It’s so much fun!!

And lastly, I added some more stitching in the corner with another cluster of sequins and phrase stickers.

I had so much fun making this layout and focusing on this boy who is quickly growing up. You can find my YouTube video below:

Life of a Crafter | Meggy Blethen

Hello Scrapbookers!! I am back today with a cut file released back in July. I don’t know about you buy I love being a crafter and scrapping about it. Back in 2017 I rearranged my craft room and took photos of the process. I loved the cute Craft a Happy Life cut file and it worked perfect with this photo of my craft room in disarray.

As you will see though, I did alter the title part of the cut file to fit my subject. I have more photos that I want to add in a pocket page after this layout that will show the organizing and cleaning process even more than this one does. As someone who is in my craft room a lot, I am always organizing and rearranging things to work better for myself. I decided to cut out a different title but use the alpha from the cut file.

Make sure to grab a copy of this cut file in the shop.

I love how the pink glitter paper pops off of the light colored background. For the smaller alpha I used American Crafts ‘Happy Life’ Thickers. The most important words of the title I wanted to stand out the most.

I adore the cute little paint brushes and cup holding them. I backed them with a pretty purple paper and added a couple of stickers around the cut file.

I really love how this layout turned out! I actually had started out on a different path at the beginning, which you can see in the process video below, or on my YouTube channel.

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you have a wonderful day!

Oh Hello Sweet Summer | Meggy Blethen

Hello Scrappy Peeps! This is Meggy and I’m back to share with you a layout I made using a cut file, Oh Hello Sweet Summer, from the July Release. I loved this cut file when I first saw it and had meant to use it but never did. Now that summer is over I am craving the warmness so I decided to use this cut file. I had some cute photos from June 2017 I needed to scrap so I pulled them out and got to work!

I decided to size down the title and the sun so I could fit the whole cut file on one layout and fit the photos in the middle. I really love being able to do this in Silhouette Studio.

I really love how this whole layout turned out! It worked out that I had these few items sitting out in a pile on my desk. I rummaged through them and found the fun clouds and butterflies.

I love the addition of the butterflies and the clouds..

I made sure to include a tag for some journaling on it.

I loved that this cut file had space for small photos in between the title and the sun shape. I decided that was going to be my design element for the layout.

I kept the embellishing simple so the cut file wouldn’t get lost in the layout and feel too busy.

I love the title and that it uses two fonts. I did consider making the title into a shaker pocket, but in the end I wanted to keep it simple.

Make sure to check out my layout process video over on my YouTube channel. You can also find it below. Thanks for stopping by! Come chat with us in the facebook group and don’t forget to pick up this cut file in the shop today!

Watch Duty | Meggy Blethen

Hello friends!! I am back again today with a fun Halloween themed layout. For this one I thought it’d be fun to focus on my dog, Max. I love these photos of him watching the candy bowl as we waited for trick or treat-ers.

I used the Halloween 1 cut file for this layout.

I thought the word, ‘Boo’ was so cute and love the spider web. Here’s a look at my finished layout

I loved how the teal and orange colors popped off of the black patterned paper. I was glad I turned the photos black and white so that I could use whatever color papers to embellish.

The orange paper I used to back the cut files is actually from a birthday collection! Isn’t that funny? I just turned it upside down and at an angle so you couldn’t see the balloons and words printed. It worked out so well with this pretty teal paper as an accent. I aslo used some Shimmerz Paints Snow Storm spray mist.

I knew I wanted to have 3 clusters on this layout so when I cut out my files this time around I cut out 2 of the half spider webs. They worked perfectly as a base for each cluster.

I love using multiple photos and this cut file helped me cluster the photos along with the file on a grid and it looks so perfect!

I LOVE the font of the word ‘BOO’, but since this layout wasn’t really about Max being scared or scaring anyone I decided to not focus on it as part of the title. I did want to use sequins to outline each letter though. Sequins make everything better! 🙂

You can watch my process video below. Thank you so much for stopping by! Are you getting in the fall/Halloween mood and starting to scrap with these themes? We’d love to see your layouts over on the facebook group!

TRAVEL | Meggy Blethen

Hello, CUT to YOU fans!! This is Meggy and I am back today using the new Travel Grid cut file.

I was so excited when I saw this cut file for the month of September because I just got back from a LONG road trip with my kids to visit my mom and sisters. I had lots of road trip photos to fit in the empty squares.

I really love how the colors of the pattern papers pop and the photos of the road go so well with them.

I didn’t want to do a lot of embellishing to take away from the cut file and photos so I kept my clusters simple and small.

I LOVE that I added this cute little sequin pocket. I thought about having each of the globes filled with sequins, but in the end decided against it. I really liked the look of the patterned paper.

I was so excited to finally be able to use this travel themed ephemera that I’ve had in my stash for about 3 years or more!

Make sure to check out the shop with all the new cut file releases for September. Gwen always amazes me with her creative cut files!

Sisters, Besties For Life | Meggy Blethen

Hello scrapbookers!! I am back today with a fun layout where I used 2 cut files in 2 different ways. I had so much fun making this layout to share with you!! I hope you’ll enjoy it too.

I knew when I saw the Quilt Grid cut file that it needed to be made into a stencil. I LOVE triangles!! I also love stencils, so it worked out perfect! 🙂

Totally looks like the perfect stencil, right?!!

Voila! I made it into a stencil using some plastic stencil material I bought off of amazon. I LOVE this stuff!!

The other cut file I used was Besties for Life. This one was perfect because I just went on vacation to visit 2 of my sisters this past week.

I was so excited to use this one and had the perfect photo my mom took of my sisters and I.

To make the cut file pattern stand out, I used some Molding Paste by Golden. I then used my favorite Amy Tangerine water colors released earlier this year and created a few differe pink, purple and blue hues.

I backed the Title cut file in a pretty water color paper so it would stand out against the background and all the layers.

I decided to cut apart the cut file so that it would connect the whole layout. I felt that looked best.

Since there were so many pretty colors on the layout I decided to use a black and white photo I added a few layers behind the photo and added some banners to give it more texture around the bottom of the photo.

I added some extra hearts and some sequins as my embellishments. I wanted the cut files to shine on the layout, along with the photo, so I didn’t want to use any embellishments to take away from that.

I just absolutely LOVE how this layout turned out I want to encourage you to try using 2 cut files on a layout this month! It was so fun to challenge myself in that way and go outside the box. I hope you will check out my process video below.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Make sure to visit the shop to pick up some amazing cut files.

Bubbles of Fun | Meggy Blethen

Hello Scrapbookers!! This is Megan with you today and I have a super fun and simple layout for you using the Bubbles cut file! When I saw this one I immediately knew I had the perfect bath photos for it!

I don’t know about you, but when my kid we’re little I took so many photos of them taking baths! I thought these photos of my youngest were so cute playing with the bath toys
My first thought was to outline the cut file with sequins but when I got started I decided I wanted the white cut file to shine by itself.
I added some clusters around a few of the bubbles and outlined a few of them as well. This makes them pop but also gives them the subtle look I was going for.
I hope you enjoy this layout! I will have a process video up on my YouTube channel this weekend!

Make sure to pop over to the shop to grab this adorable cut file. You can view my process video below!

Thanks guys,

Crafty Meggy

Beautiful | Meggy Blethen

Hello everyone! I am so excited about sharing my layout today using one of July’s new releases. I also got my color inspiration for the layout from the Birthday Mood Board:

I used 2 cute files on my layout for today. The first one is called Spring Roses Frame.

The second one is called Spring Roses. You can find these two cut files and so much more in the CUT to YOU shop.

I recently got my hair cut and I thought these cut files, along with the mood board would go perfectly with pictures of me and my new look.

I wanted the photos and the cut files to stand out on the layout so I used a dark background with a dusty pink mat around the photos.

I don’t normally mix the colors white and off white, but the word ‘beautiful’ fit these photos and the elegant cut files so well.

The vellum flowers from the Maggie Holmes Open Book collection help move your eye around the layout. They bring out a different color as well, which I love.

I used some Spiegelmom Scraps Hex -a- glam sequins for the middle of each vellum flower.

In this cluster by the title I used a few of the Spring Roses cuts to bring more emphasis to the title and photos.

Lastly, I added an off white tag to the top left along with a few more of the Spring Roses and some journaling.

I hope you will enjoy watching my YouTube process video below. Make sure to check out the CUT to YOU shop and grab your new releases!

Books I’ve Read: 2019 | Meggy Blethen

Hello CUT to YOU friends!

I’m Meggy and this is my very first layout as a DT member. I am so excited to be on the team this year and hope I can inspire in new ways to use Gwen’s gorgeous cut files!

I have loved my Silhouette Cameo so much this past year and have ventured more into using it in my scrapbooking. When Gwen sent us the new releases for the month I immediately knew I HAD to use the Book Stack cut file because I have been reading a lot this year!

It is the perfect file to use for a “Books I’ve Read” layout! This is actually the first time I’ve ever made a layout recording this part of my life. I normally focus on my kids and family events more than myself. It was so fun to change up the subject.

I love how my layout turned out. I had so much fun making this one! I was a bit nervous not using a photo, but in the end it was so exhilarating to do something out of my comfort zone.

Here you can see the cut file in all it’s glory. I just love it! I decided to make it stand out against the white background a little bit more by using Tutti Fruiti and Coral me Crazy Dazzlers by Shimmerz Paints.

Instead of using a photo I pulled out a cute 3×4 card that kind of goes along with my theme. I like to give myself a theoretical high five after reading because I feel like I never have time and I have to force myself to do it. This card was perfect!

For the bullet points for each book I read this year I used some cute acrylic pieces from Paige Evan’s cute Fancy Free collection. I also used circular puffy stickers from my stash and an acrylic heart from Color Cast Designs.

I decided to use a mix of stamping with my cursive handwriting to write out the titles of the books. These are the 4 I had read when I made this layout. The exciting part is that in the last week I already read another book and I’m halfway through a second!! I’m on a roll with reading and it makes me so happy to record this memory.

Make sure to check out the shop for all the new awesome releases that came out this month. I will be back in a couple weeks with a new layout to share with you.
