Hi Cut To You Creatives, Karen sharing with you a super sweet layout featuring the Shine Bright Build a Page file. I am also solving another CSI Cold Case and this one is number 370. I have to admit this one is different for me, I don’t often use softer colours but I love how it turned out!

To go along with the colour board choices for the CSI challenge I also leaned in on some of the options from the evidence list. I couldn’t go past the cheesecloth and gold elements.

I have used pretty much every component of the cut file by using the negative and positive sections,. I love it when that happens. To reflect the gold element I went a little old school and covered the letters gold embossing powder. I was undecided if I was going to pop the letters up on foam and nestle them inside of the cut file but I opted to keep them flat and just glued them into place inside of the title.

The moon portion of the cut file was backed in patterned paper and once I added the sequins I felt it needed more to make the layout feeling more dreamy and that is where the muslin (it’s sort of cheese cloth right?) came in. I tucked it across the moon to give the appearance of floating.

You can see more on how I built this one here on YouTube!

Thanks so much for stopping by, I hope you get to create a little this week!

Hi CTY Friends Karen with you today. I hope you are able to get in some creative time. How did it get to October already, this year is just flying by and with Halloween approaching it has me thinking of Christmas but that is a whole other post!

My layout this week is embracing the colours of Halloween, Black, Purple and Orange which is all a perfect colour combination for the CSI Challenge Case Number 369!

The photo prompt for the challenge gave me the inspiration to use the Background Crossword No1 file. This represents the tiles in the chimney and for some dramatic flair I painted the file black using a paint pen.

I love how beautfully purple and orange sit boldly together and really pop off the page with the mixed media background

Words Give Flight ] Karen Jarman

Hi Cut To You friends, it is so great to be sharing my latest layout with you today. My layout also solves another case file at CSI Challenge blog. This one solved case number 366 and features the Fly a Kit Trio cut file which is available in store here.

This months CSi’s challenges have been all about books and reading, I took inspiration from the photo prompt and substituted the butterfly nets with the kites. I felt the kites suited my title of Words Give Flight to Imagination and conveyed what I was trying say more successfully.

I backed the kites with velum and only glued down the centre of the kite so the edges could be lifted up to give some dimension and the feel of flying. Of course I couldn’t resist adding some fussy cut butterflies fluttering around the kites as well.

To see more of how I drew inspiration and created this one I would love it if you popped on over to YouTube

Thanks again for stopping by. Karen x

Our Story | Karen Jarman

Hi Cut To You Creatives

Sharing my first layout for September using the book component of the Our Story cut file. It was perfect to document my sisters love of Jane Austen’s’ Pride and Prejudice.

My layout was inspired by this month’s CSI Challenge Scene #367.

Amongst the flowers I also wanted to give the book an aged feel so I added some metallic paint with my fingers in the centre of the file and gradually lightened the paint around the edges.

I love dimension on my pages so I added layers of fussy cut flowers and turned up the edges of he cut file to give the impression that the pages were curling up.

I would love it if you visited YouTube to see how the CSI inspiration prompts came to life

Road Trip | Karen Jarman

Hi Cut to You creatives,

It is so great to be sharing another layout with you this month. I am working with the challenges over at the CSI challenge blog, make sure you pop over and check out the crime scenes.

My layout today solves Case number 365. The moment I saw the picture prompt I knew I needed to scrap a wonderful memory of a road trip to Central Queensland a few years ago.

I couldn’t go past the Road Trip file to feature on the page and grunged it up in a pretty way (well my version of pretty) by using water colour and pinkish paste over the cut file and finished off with inking the edges in black.

Here are a few close-ups

To see more of how I built this layout I would love it if you popped on over to YouTube to watch the vid.

Case Solved! I would love it if you have a go at this month challenge!

Thanks for stopping in today I hope you have a great creative week.

So onto my (gulp!) first creation for Cut To You using the gorgeous Floral Ampersand file which you can find here in the shop

I was completely inspired by the tropical feel in CSI CASE File No.363. You can get more details on the evidence you need here .

I kicked things off by backing the flowers and leaves with patterned paper and left the main component clear from backing and created a mixed media background that would peak through the cut file.

You can see how I created this one here –

Thanks so much for stopping by today, I hope you can join in on the fun challenges at CSI this month, make sure you share and tag #CuttoYou! we love to see your creations.
