Happy Together | Kirei Baldwin

Hi CUT to YOU fans! I have another layout to share using the older Hearts on Strings cut file which you can find here in the shop! I decided to use it as a layer between the patterned paper background and my photo so that it added some definition but also highlighted that fabulous ombre paper from the new Cocoa Vanilla Studio ‘These Days’ collection.

I cut the Hearts on Strings cut file in white cardstock so that it popped out from the background. I stuck it down flat but only used glue in a few places so that parts of it still lifted slightly as I wanted to keep some dimension in my layout.

Then I took all the inner hearts that were leftover from the main cut file and painted them in colours to match the background, using some pretty shimmery watercolours from my stash.

My portrait photo was mounted on a coordinating piece of patterned paper and I stuck that down centrally using sticky foam pads on the top edge only. On the bottom edge I added my title using the ‘Happy Together’ from the ephemera pack raising it up on sticky foam pads.

With the hearts now all dry I added them around the photo raising some on foam pads and leaving others flat (though only using glue in the centre) as I curved up the edges.

Then I added lots of embellishments from the collection… puffy stickers, ephemera, clear stickers, wooden buttons, gold hearts and little word stickers.

To finish off I stitched a border around the edge of the layout in gold thread as I just felt it needed something to pull it together and flicked some splatters of gold paint all around the cut file.

Hello You | Tamara Buckler

Hello lovely CTY friends,

So happy to be back here today to share another messy mixed media layout with you. For this page I have used the negative pieces from our very popular Crazy Love Circle Cut File.

I actually cut this file 3 times by sizing the file to fit within itself in concentric circles. I am using the positive cut of this file on a different project that I will be sharing in the coming months, however I realised as I weeded the file for that project, that the negative pieces I was pulling out were too good to get rid of!

I used acrylic paint and a brayer to create my background, adding texture paste, ink, and doodling. I then added in the words from the cut file to my page free handed. I messed with the spacing and order to suit my layout, and really incorporated the file into my background.

I feel like sometimes we get so caught up in thinking we can only use our files by backing them and adding them to our page. Now dont get me wrong, I love that too, but I think our files are amazing for adding interest and texture to our mixed media projects too!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Make sure you are sharing your layouts with us over at CTY HQ on Facebook or tagging us at @cut_to_you over on instagram.

Big Loves, Tam xo

CUT to YOU | Love Grows Here | Melinda Sweetman

Hello my scrappy friends and welcome to the CUT to YOU blog today! Melinda here with my next project for CUT to YOU and I have something a little “softer” and somewhat “prettier” than my norm! I hope you enjoy!

I have used the beautiful “Love Grows Here” title cut file which was cut in white textured cardstock.

I have made a slight adjustment to the cut file – I cut off the stems of the daffodils that go into the “o” in the word “grows” for a simpler look. I have used a few pattern papers to very simply back my cut file and then I popped the whole thing up to help it pop off the background.

I have chosen 2 3″x4″ photos from Mum’s Day this year; one with me with each of my boys at the end of the day. The photo cluster tucked beautifully into the cut file, sitting on top of the words and to the right of the flower heads.

I really LOVE how this page came together, all the pretty, soft colours and patterns, something different to my “norm” and yet still me. You can watch this page come together on my process video, just hit the play button below!

I hope that you have enjoyed this share and that perhaps I have inspired you to step a little out of your own “normal” style. Maybe you can find something in the new releases for this month? Or perhaps there is another cut file that you have that you haven’t been sure just how to use.

Happy scrapping and I’ll see you soon my next share for CUT to YOU!

Magical Moments | Ali Skifton

Hello my CTY friends! It is Ali here with you today sharing another Disney layout using the new Magical Moments cut file that is in the shop. The picture that I used on this layout is of Mickey and Me and was taken on my Disney trip from 2018 . I am so happy that I am able to document this birthday moment with this special Mouse.

I backed the cut file using Echo Park Paper’s Remember the Magic collection. It was perfect colors to match the photo of Mickey and me. I decided to back all the stars with the yellow gold paper and love how it pops against the white cardstock. I added foam tape on the back of the cut file before adhering it to the white cardstock to add some dimension to the scrapbook page.

I threw in some glitter enamel dots around the stars to bring more magic to the page. I also used the sparkly enamel bling and added them to the centers of the letters A in my title. I love the look it gives the word magical.

To add more fun to the page I added three flairs from Scrappin Happy Studio to my page. Notice how I added two flairs to my title to ground it more and I love how they add a little something more to the title.

I hope you enjoy this magical layout and don’t forget to check out all those magical cut files that Gwen creates for us every month!

Love, Ali xoxo

CUT to YOU | Our Little Sweetheart | Rose Garden Frame cut file | Piroska Czako-Radvanyi

Hello Everyone, it’s Piroska here today with my latest layout for CUT to YOU. When I first saw the Rose Garden Frame cut file, I knew I want to make a layout with it! You know I love flowers and couldn’t wait to back it and make a layout with it. My perfect photo for this cut file was made in July, when we went on a holiday with the family for some days. Blanka’s hair was made by her brother’s girlfriend and she looked such a big girl with that messy bun! And of course sooo very beautiful too, that I had to make some portraits of her! 😉

First I cut the Rose Garden Frame cut file from white cardstock. As the colours of the Sunkissed collection of Cocoa Vanilla Studio matches totally the dress on the photo, I began to back the flowers in the cut file with matching colours from the 6×8 paper pad.

When I was ready I’ve been looking for a matching background paper, and thought that rainbow paper (called Bright Side) would look great with the rainbow coloured cut file.

I glued my photo to the cut file and placed the cut file on the background paper. Then I wanted to add more flowers to the layout, so I fussy cut some flowers from the Growing Wild patterned paper.

Finally I added my title – I chose some die cut titles from the Daydream collection: Our Little SweetHeart. I glued them on the rainbow, added my journalling and was ready.

I hope I could inspire you to use this beautiful cut file! You can find the Rose Garden Frame cut file and many beautiful cut files among the new release. So head on to the CUT to YOU shop and wishing you many crafty days! 😉

Happiness | Rose Garden Frame Cut File | Belinda Jane

Hello beautiful friends! I am so happy to be back with you today with another Design Team project to share. For this layout I wanted something soft and sweet and the Rose Garden Frame Cut File was absolutely perfect to document this floral heavy photo.

I just love the subtle detail that the Rose Garden Frame Cut File adds to this very soft, pretty and oh-so-pink layout. If you know me, you know that this layout captures all of my favourite things! You can see how it all came together in more detail in my process video below.

Sweater Weather | Michelle Gallant

Hey everyone, Michelle here today with a new layout to share using the Wreath of Leaves cut file and the Cozy Days collection from Simple Stories.

I know it’s still summer here but fall layouts are always my favorite. When I saw this cut file I knew I had to use it with some fall photos!

I used 4 different pattern papers to back up the leaves and then I stitched the vines using green thread.

I love how a white cut file looks on a dark background. It really pop from the page! I added a title and a few embellishment clusters besides my photos and my layout was done!

Road Trip | Karen Jarman

Hi Cut to You creatives,

It is so great to be sharing another layout with you this month. I am working with the challenges over at the CSI challenge blog, make sure you pop over and check out the crime scenes.

My layout today solves Case number 365. The moment I saw the picture prompt I knew I needed to scrap a wonderful memory of a road trip to Central Queensland a few years ago.

I couldn’t go past the Road Trip file to feature on the page and grunged it up in a pretty way (well my version of pretty) by using water colour and pinkish paste over the cut file and finished off with inking the edges in black.

Here are a few close-ups

To see more of how I built this layout I would love it if you popped on over to YouTube to watch the vid.

Case Solved! I would love it if you have a go at this month challenge!

Thanks for stopping in today I hope you have a great creative week.

Chasing Rainbows | Shannon Allor

Hello friends! It’s Shannon up on the blog today bringing you this fun and colorful layout featuring the gorgeous “Chasing Rainbows” cutfile. I love that it comes in two different pieces to tailor it to your specific project. I used the whole shebang and then brought in lots of Shimmerz Paints, SpiegelMom Scraps sequins as well as the Simple Stories “Sunkissed” collection.

Here is the gorgeous cutfile in question:

I used a whole bunch of Shimmerz Paints to alter my project. I used a single gorgeous blue tone for my clouds and then came in with a couple of sequin mixes to create a shaker pocket for the rainbow area.

Here’s another closeup where you can see that I created a rainbow of color across the Chasing Rainbows words:

You can see my full process here:

Have the best scrappy day!

Sweet Friends | Kirei Baldwin

Hi CUT to YOU fans! I’m sharing my first layout for August and this time I’m using the lovely Rosey Posey Polaroid cut file as a background piece…. you can find it here in the shop! I thought it was perfect to go with the pretty Maggie Holmes ‘Garden Party’ collection.

I firstly painted the cut file with soft shimmery pink and sparkly green watercolours. Once it was dry I backed the rose and leaves with vellum and the polaroid element with a floral patterned paper. I love the delicate look the vellum gives to the cut file, and still allows the background to peep through.

Then I used the packaging technique to add more of the pink watercolour to an 11″ x 11″ white cardstock background and when that was dry added pink and gold splatters. I stitched that down onto a 12″ x 12″ black and white zig zag patterned paper frame.

I added stick foam pads to the back of the polaroid part of the cut file and stuck it down to the background, before adding my square photo that was mounted onto one of the patterned papers.

There was a fab floral paper that I fussy cut a couple of large pink flowers from and then tucked them under both sides of my photo. They were only stuck down in the centres so that I could curl up the petals for added dimension.

Then I went through the matching embellishments and added house, butterfly, cupcake and bow stickers, puffy floral and heart stickers, gold glitter epoxy hearts and a word banner.

To finish off I added a title using the coordinating word Thickers and alpha stickers and popped some journaling just to the right side of the layout.
