Love Your Llama Selfie|Sara Scraps

Hello Everyone! Sara with you today playing with one of this month’s new cut files, Love Your Selfie. This cut file is so fun, I especially love the cute Instax- like camera. I knew it would look fabulous backed with some fun patterns.

I paired the cut file with papers and embellishments from Cocoa Vanilla Studio’s new line, Daydream. I just got this collection and Im already hooked…these colors are swoon-worthy. I havent gotten any new lines in a while so I dug right in and went to work..well, play (creating this layout was anything but work!)

I paired the cut file with flowers, lots of flowers. Fussy cut flowers from the collection paired with die cuts. I added this cute little corduroy heart to the camers lens. The heart and the floral element really added whimsy to the camera.

My photograph is a selfie…with a llama. I have a confession, I love llamas. I wanted to add one to my page, but in a subtle way. So I added a “hidden llama” to one of my floral clusters. He is sooo cute, right??

I added a llama to my title using some Thickers and I added some more hearts to the middle of the letter O’s to create a visual triangle around my page. And if you look closely…you’ll find a little “hidden cactus” too.

I thoroughly enjoyed creating this layout. Using new products and brand new cut files was fun, and creative! Be sure to head over to the shop HERE and take a look at ALL the new cut files this month. You will not be disappointed!…promise!

Have A Lovely Day!

Hello Sunshine | Tamara Buckler

Hello again lovely Cut to You friends!!

I’m back on the blog today with my first share for October. I have used the ‘Hello Sunshine’ Cut File from the recent September release.

I started by cutting this file from white card stock… I actually cut quite a few files from 1 sheet of 12×12 card… and I accidentally made a mistake and cut the top of the sun off… Oops!

I will often end up with files that aren’t perfect, but this doesn’t phase me too much as there are always ways to ‘make it work’ as Tim Gunn says! Some ways I do this is to incorporate them into my layers, cut them into smaller pieces which I then tuck into clusters, or I add them to mixed media background for added texture.

In this example, I was able to tuck the dodgy element underneath my photo stack, and voila, it’s perfect! I did decide however to paint it black with acrylic paint (before I stuck it down) as I wanted it to pop against my mixed media background. I’m so glad I took this extra step.

I love the way that the mixed media ‘fills’ the file and creates so much impact. And even though the files not backed or popped, it creates so much interest and drama just by its bold simplicity.

I also allowed the file to dictate where my embellishments went, tucking them around the title to create a nestled effect.

Thanks for stopping by today to check out my layout. I hope you’ve enjoyed!

Big loves, Tam xo

My Love | Kelly Pyron

Sometimes you just need a little floral beauty and creativity to brighten up your day! This was one of those days. The Simply Flora cut file made me happy just looking at it! I imagined bright and cheery blooms and colorful patterned paper … and my mood was instantly brightened and inspiration struck! I knew the perfect photo to go along with the cut-file and a layout idea was born! 🙂

I cut the file on textured white cardstock and then used bright and cheery colors and patterns to back the cut-file. As I was going through my stash, I came across this whimsical hedgehog and bird element and knew they had to make it on this layout. I mean.. just look at all that cuteness! ❤

I used clear gesso on my backgroud and added some watercolor splashes and gold mist droplets under the cut-file for another layer of happy color and loveliness.

I layered more floral stickers, gold leaves, and hearts for more dimension and interest. (You can never have enough layers, can you?)

And taaa-daaa! A completed layout of my darling grand-love that makes me so happy and creatively satisfied! If you are in need of a mood lift, go check out all the lovely floral cut-files in the shop… it won’t take long before you feel inspired and perhaps a bit happier! ❤

Exhale | Belinda Jane

Hello beautiful friends! Today I am so excited to be sharing with you is one of my all time favourite layouts that I have created.

I knew that I wanted to create a really soft and pretty layout for what I was documenting and, although it might seem like an odd pairing, the  Pie Graph Cut File was really speaking to me.

This cut file was actually one of the newsletter freebies this month. If you’re not already a newsletter subscriber, you can go ahead and subscribe to the newsletter by clicking here.

I had a vision of a layered background using the Pie Graph Cut File which I achieved by first cutting it from some white cardstock, handstitching around and backing it with vellum. In my software I released the outside cut line to cut the ‘pie pieces’ from a white cardstock background piece, and then handstitched around each of those.

I layered the white, vellum backed, cut file on top of the background piece, rotating it slightly so that the pieces weren’t sitting directly on top of each other.

I backed my photo with a couple of simple and soft layers including patterned paper, vellum and tissue paper. I had lots of fun creating two goregously soft and floral embellishment clusters on opposite corners of my photo.

I used a chipboard word for my title and added my journalling in strips below the title. And of course I finished off with a little bit of mixed media splatters and my favourite Nuvo drops.

If you want a more detailed look at how this layout came together, I’d love for you to check out my process video below.

Thankyou, and I hope you have a great day!

BOO BOO BOO| Tarrah McLean

Hi CUT to YOU friends!

It’s Tarrah back with you today to share a spooky layout featuring the awesome Halloween 1 cut file. I don’t know what it is about Halloween but I just love documenting it!

Halloween 1 cut file

The cut file was cut using black cardstock and although I cut out the entire design, I decided to leave off the half spider web part, I have put it aside to use on another project. I felt like it would have been squashed on the page and may have looked out of place, I am happy I left it off.

I just recently purchased the Hey Pumpkin collection from Crate Paper so I just had to use it for this layout of my lil pumpkin, Amelia, my gorgeous niece! How super cute is that photo?! The Boo title connected to the spider web was perfect too as Amelia looks like she is jumping out of the pumpkin and saying Boo! So I backed the ‘BOO’ title section with one of the papers in the collection and then added craft foam underneath, I love the dimension this brings to the page, I even added tiny strips of craft foam under the spider web to help it sit up too!

Above the spider web was the ideal spot to place my photo, I layered a tag underneath the photo and added some embellishments here. On the spider web, I added the white chipboard spider web and some wood veneer stars. On the title section, I layered more chipboard pieces, cut outs and puffy stickers. The pieces I chose help tell the story, I love the piece that says, ‘You’re the Pumpkin to my Spice’!

The Halloween 1 cut file would look great cut out in white, orange and purple too! I would love to see how others use it. Make sure to share any of your projects in the CUT to YOU Community Facebook group!

Thanks so much for stopping by today, I hope you enjoyed my layout. Happy creating!

Happy Moments | Piroska Czako-Radvanyi

Hello Everyone, it’s Piroska here today with my latest layout for CUT to YOU. I hope you are all doing well, have some time for our great hobby too! I really love to get out of everydays’ business and get crafty with some beautiful cut files 😉

For my layout today I’ve chosen the Magnolia Butterfly cut file, from the August Release. It is just.gorgeous! 😀 First I’ve been thinking it from patterned paper (which would also look great), but then I cut it from smooth white cardstock.

I backed the flowers and leaves of the cut file with some beautiful patterned papers of Cocoa Vanilla Studio Daydream collection. I love the combination of peachy blush and darker grey colours!

I decided not to back the whole cut file, because I didn’t want to glue the whole cut file down, only the middle of it. I wanted to have some floating effect with the wings.

As I put the cut file on the white cardstock background, it looked so empty on the left side with only the photo there. So I made a border onto the left side, using paper stripes and some die cut or fussy cut flowers and leaves. I also added machine stitching.

I matted my photo with some patterned papers from the same collection, and started to decorate my page. I added some more flowers and leaves around my photo and under the cut file.

Finally I added some phrase stickers, fussy cut butterflies and a paper rose from the embellishment kit of the Daydream collection. And the title and some journalling is a must-have too.

I really love how it turned out. Have you made something with this cut file? Show us in the CUT to YOU Facebook group! And go and grab some new cut files from the October Release, there are so many great cut files again, Gwen is making wonders! 😉

My Fave Story | Rachel Lowe

Hi CTY friends Rachel here! Today I have a fur baby love layout to share using the gorgeous Bow Cluster cut file.

I sized the Bow Cluster cut file as large as I could go on a 12×12 cutting mat. I used a beautiful floral paper to paper back the bows and add the bow centre with foam tape to add dimension. I have used a mixed media background paper (I have used Pinkfresh Studio Celebrate collection) to provide a contrast. This page builder cut file is perfect to add visual interest and layers to your layout.

I chose where I was going to add my photo but before adhering I created two floral bunches on either side of my photo. I then used foam tape to add my photo to create more height.

I then created an embellishment cluster that would also be my title under my photo.

I added some die cut butterflies over the floral bunches with foam tape so they didn’t get lost or appear flat on my layout.

I found a super cute wood dog embellishment in my stash and just had to add it even!

This layout is so pretty you could use many types of photos/themes, but my fur baby turned seven this week and I was a little nostalgic and found this puppy photo to scrap.

You will find this cut file in the shop now along with so many other gorgeous cut files!

Thanks for stopping by today and see you again soon.

LOVELY LIFE | GWEN WRUCK

Hey there Creative friends! Gwen back with you today for some more Scrapbook inspiration. Today I’m diving deep into my stash and using one of my all-time favourite collections from Cocoa Vanilla Studio called ‘Bohemian Dream’. I’ve also pulled a sweet pic of Miss C taken a few years ago now. I’ve teamed it with the ‘Triangle Pinwheel‘ cut file which I’ve cut nice and large to create a background feature for my page. Lots more details to see below.

Here’s a closer look at the cut file I’ve used. This one is nice and fast to back and I think adds a really striking element to the page. If you are new to working with cut files, this one is a great one to get you started.

To create my page, I’ve begun by backing my cut file design, I’ve simply backed each triangle one by one mixing and matching pattern paper scraps. I wasn’t too careful about the colour placement, I just made sure that no two colours were side by side. I’ve then added this whole piece to the cardstock background of my layout and stitched around the edge.

Next, I’ve mounted my photo with a 1/4 inch frame and added some stitching. I’ve then locked in the position of my photo onto my page.

Next up, I’ve worked on my title. I knew I wanted to use a larger title for this design so it was important to get it into position early in the design process. I just love the bold white chipboard I’ve used here.

Next up, I’ve created my main embellishment cluster. I pulled this ‘Charm Creations‘ heart from my stash and added that to some die cut embellishments and a flair from the collection. I love the different textures here.

I’ve then gone ahead and added in two smaller embellishment clusters mainly made up of the die cut ephemera pieces and some word sentiments. Most I’ve added on 3D foam tape for dimension.

The clusters help draw the eye from the top left hand corner of the photo down to wards the bottom left hand corner of the page. I’ve kept them pretty simple as I didn’t want to cover up too much of my fun cut file background.

AND, that is the page complete. Thanks for popping by today creative friends, I hope this one has inspired you to get creating. As always, I love seeing what you make so be sure to tag me on social.

Until next time,

Love You | Kirei Baldwin

Hi again CUT to YOU fans! I’m back with my second layout for the month using another of the fab new September releases…. I loved the Rocket cut file and initially was going to use it with some pics of my nephews however once I got started decided that it was going to be perfect for one of my lovely husband! You can find the Rocket cut file here in the CUT to YOU store.

I cut the rocket and stars out in white cardstock and then backed them with some patterned papers from the Cocoa Vanilla Studio ‘Legendary’ collection that I still have in my stash. I used foam pads when attaching the patterned papers to add dimension as that is probably my favourite technique when using cut files!

You can see I backed the star cut files with stars from one of the patterned papers, then added a swoosh from one of the striped patterned papers in the matching colour as I thought it created what looked like movement coming from the shooting star.

Once the rocket and stars were all backed I stuck them down to my background which is a very old October Afternoon paper that I have hung onto as I knew it would come in use one day!

I then added my black and white photo that I layered up with five different coordinating papers that I had , I stuck it down with foam pads on the top edge only so that I could tuck in the bottom edge just under the cut file. I tucked in a few stickers and a ticket from the matching ephemera.

Finally I added a title using the word ‘LOVE’ from the coordinating title pack, I mounted this to some of the yellow patterned paper so that it stood out more against the white cardstock of the cut file. Then I cut up some of the words to get the letters ‘Y’, ‘O’ and ‘U’ and stuck them down directly to the layout. I finished off with the sticker saying ‘To the moon and back’.

At this point I decided it needed something else on the background, so added some little stars that I stitched with silver thread, this just added the extra texture that it needed and I was happy!

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by! Don’t forget to pop on over to the CUT to YOU store to see all of the fabulous cut files available and if you want to receive a FREE cut file each month then subscribe to the newsletter here…. see you all next month!

Happy Scrapping!
