Totally | Geo Triangles cut file | Tarrah McLean

Hi creative friends!

It’s Tarrah back with you today to share a new layout featuring the awesome Geo Triangles cut file. The geometric cut files by CUT to YOU are perfect for boy themed pages! I used the Teen Spirit collection by Echo Park with the cut file.

I decided to cut the Geo Triangles cut file design out from black cardstock for a change, I also intended on turning the design so that the triangles were vertical. Black cardstock cut files really suit boy pages especially when the cut file is backed with some bright papers! Once the design was cut out, I picked lots of different papers to back the triangles with.

Once the cut file was all backed, I adhered it to a plain sheet of white cardstock using double sided tape. I often adhere cut files up with craft foam however with the thin lines in this one, I decided to lay it flat. This way it also gives me the option to machine stitch if I wanted to.

I placed the photo of my youngest son slightly on the left of the page to allow for a title in the centre and some embellishments on the left of the photo too. I also didn’t want to cover up too much of the cut file design with the awesome papers backed behind it. I kept most of the embellishing to a minimum adding just a few die-cuts and stickers, some wood veneer stars and a flair button.

Thanks so much for stopping by the CUT to YOU blog today! I hope you enjoyed my boy page as much as I enjoyed creating it! I hope you are inspired to grab some awesome cut files like the Geo Triangles one and create some awesome projects!

Happy creating!

Smile | Circle Eights cut file | Tarrah McLean

Hi crafty friends,

It’s Tarrah back with you and today I have a new layout to share to fit with the black cut file theme for this week!

When I think of black cut files, I immediately think to create a boy page which is exactly what I did! I love how the black Circle Eights cut file pops off the white cardstock background. I also love the bright colours from the patterned papers that I added behind the cut file.

There are so many awesome ideas you can create with this cut file. Another idea you could try is to back the individual circles with patterned papers for a different look. You could also cut a few smaller ones and have them scattered all over the page too!

I decided to cut out the Circle Eights design fairly large so that it took up most of the room on the page. Once I had backed all of the segments in the circle, I added craft foam to the under side and adhered it to the white cardstock background. I love the shadows and dimension this creates.

I didn’t want to cover too much of the design however I knew that I would be placing my photo, title and embellishments on top so I kept the photo fairly small and placed most embellishments centering around my photo.I added 2 flair buttons to this page, the one on the left side fit in the circle of the cut file design perfectly! One thing I like to do when I have a bright and busy background is to may my photo with white cardstock or to print it out with a white border. This helps to make my photo stand out from the busy background rather than get lost amongst the colour.

Thanks so much for stopping by the CUT to YOU blog today! I hope you enjoyed my layout and perhaps give the black cut file look a try yourself? Make sure to check out the CUT to YOU online store for amazing cut file designs to suit your projects!

CUT to YOU | Magnolia Bouquet Kit | Forty

Hello friends and welcome to the CUT to YOU blog today!

I was given the challenge of using a black cut file for this share and funnily enough already had a couple cut in black so was super excited to get this one used up!

The cut file on this page is actually from one of the KIT to YOU kits “Magnolia Bouquet” and, as you can see, I’ve used it TOTALLY differently to the way Gwen used it in the kit and I just love this file in black!!

For this layout I have chosen to play with the Pink Paislee “5th & Monaco” collection which I had purchased to scrap at least some of the photos from my big 40th last year.

I’ve used the 6×8 paper pad to back the cut file in pretty pinks and white with gold foiled patterns and love the way the black cut file makes it pop off the page!

My title is actually the acrylic piece that was used as my cake topper! Hubby just (carefully!) removed the spike and I have a giant shiny acrylic piece to pair with my beautiful cut file and photo!

I’ve done a little mixed media in the background – totally inspired by the amazing Sue Plumb! You can see my page come together over on my YT video, which is linked below for you!

I think I will use this page as a kind of “chaper title” page in my 2020 album so kept the journalling pretty short – to the effect of “With all of the uncertainty of 2020 I am so very grateful that I got the chance to celebrate this milestone birthday with those I love!”

I hope that you have enjoyed my share today and that maybe you have been inspired to create with a black cut file! Or perhaps you have a KIT to YOU kit that you are inspired to use in a different than “designed” way or maybe even as a great place to start something new if your mojo is a little meh at the moment!

Until next time, happy scrapping and make sure you check out all of the beautiful KIT to YOU kits in the store! I just love them so much!!

You and Me | Valentine | Belinda Jane

Hello beautiful friends!

I am delighted to be sharing another design team project with you today. This time around I have used one of the fabulous files from KIT to YOU. This month I have been challenged with creating a layout using a cut file cut from black cardstock and I wanted to try creating something different with the Valentine Cut File and Kit from what Gwen has put together in the kit instructions.

You can see how I created this layout in my process video:

And here are a few more close up images of the completed layout.

Thank you as always for taking the time to stop by and I hope you have a wonderful day!

CUT to YOU | Bee My Valentine | Bee My Valentine Cut File

Hello Everyone, it’s Piroska here today with my latest layout for CUT to YOU. To make it more exciting for the team and more inspiring for you, from February each Design Team member has a special challenge to fulfill. This time my task was to use a black cut file – if you know me, you know that I hardly ever used a black cut file before! So it was really a challenge for me! 😛

As Valentine’s Day is getting closer I went with that theme. I cut the Bee My Valentine cut file from last year’s release from black textured cardstock.

I got some older Valentine’s Day collections from my stash, I chose the My Love paper from the Heart Day collection of Crate Paper as my background.

I backed the cut file with the Hugs & Kisses paper, and the bee with the Adore You paper from the same collection.

As the black cut file is big and impressive, I didn’t add many embellishments to the layout. I matted my photo with the same patterned papers, and added some stickers and chipboard stickers from the Crate Paper Main Squeeze collection, and some ScrapUp phrase stickers in Hungarian.

What do you think, did I manage to fulfill the requirements for the challenge? Would love to hear, what you think. Thanks for being with me today, let’s get crafty with more cut files, cut white or black 😉 Visit the shop, you can find a gorgeous new release there!
