To create this layout I first cut the file on a sheet of 12×12 white cardstock, first adjusting the image placement to work with my photo. I then cut the butterflies a second time, same size, but this time without the stitching holes.
The cut file was not removed from the base paper, I instead placed the patterned papers on the back side of the base paper and adhered them.
Next, I completed the stitching using three strands of floss, and then adhered the second cut file directly on top of the base, only adhering the bodies of the butterflies so the wings have some dimension.
To finsh it off, I then cut some “bodies” from the same pp that I backed the photo with for visual interest.
Adding some random fussy cut paper strips to add a little more whimsy and movement.

Hello, hello fellow CTY fans!!! Melinda here with you sharing my latest DT creation with you.
As you can see I’ve used the gorgeous Butterfly Cut n Stitch file (I’ve been busting to use this beauty!!) with a photo of myself, The Boss Lady, Gwen, Tamara, Bernii and Rachel D from the DT! We recently attended a retreat together and I just couldn’t wait to scrap these photos!!
A girly cut file means a pretty, girly collection and I couldn’t help but bust out the gorgeous Cocoa Vanilla Studio Unforgettable collection. I’ve used the 6×8 paper pad to back the butterflies that I had cut on some textured white card stock.
If you haven’t seen or used the Cut n Stitch files yet they come with both the cut file (butterflies in this case) and the stitch lines already in place. I “designed” my page in Silhouette Studio knowing that the card stock that had the stitch holes would ultimately be my back ground paper. This was a super easy and quick file to stitch with a straight back stitch. You could also use the chain stitch for extra texture! Then I added splatters using 2 different pinks and an aqua-y/teal-y colour.
With the cut file backed and the butterfly trails stitched onto my background that didn’t leave me much room for where to put things which made this page come together super quickly! I knew pretty quickly I wanted to mount the white card stock onto a pattern paper so chose the gorgeous pink pattern called “Unscripted”, cutting out the centre.
My photo is printed just under 6×4 with a white border. I’ve added some of the same paper and a doily behind my photo and tucked that between the butterflies on the bottom right.
As so much of my pages real estate already taken up it was a matter of adding a few small embellishments and my title. I’ve used the diagonal line from the top left to the bottom right and added a few bits and pieces. Because I used gold letters I also added in some gold splatters on that same line. Finally finishing the page with some enamel dots.
And my title using a clear sticker stuck onto some white card stock paired with those gold thickers.
I have a process video for you today and I do hope you enjoy! This cut file is so, so pretty and I just love it with this collection!
