CUT to YOU | Christmas Wreath Cut File | Joyful Moments | Melinda Sweetman

Hey & hello everyone, Melinda here with you today on the CUT to YOU blog sharing my latest scrapbook layout using a CUT to YOU cut file!

Yes, it’s April and yes that’s a Christmas page but I just could not resist the stunning “Christmas Wreath” cut file any longer!!

I’ve cut this on white textured card stock so that it sits below my pair of photos and “hangs” the same way it would on a wreath!

Todays layout was created with a Cocoa Vanilla Studio collection called Joyful and it’s just beautiful to work with!! I started with the A5 Paper Stack and backing my cut file. I also used some vellum pieces to back some of the leaves.

Next I chose my title “Joyful Magic Moments” as these photos show the pure and absolute joy on my boys’ faces on Christmas morning as they opened “the” gifts from Santa! Do you remember how that felt when you were just 9 or 11 years old?!? Pure MAGIC!!

A layer of pattern behind my photos, some dimension behind my photos and title/journaling card and a few embellishments and my page is done!! And, of course, gold splatters!!! How can I call a Christmas page complete without gold splatters?!?!

I have a process video for you which is linked below, just hit play!

As always, thanks so much for stopping by and I hope I have inspired you!!
I’m going to leave you with a question… Is there ever a wrong time to scrap Christmas for you? Clearly the answer for me is a giant no but I’d love to know your thoughts!!

Until next time, happy scrapping!
Melinda

Merry and Bright | Tamara Buckler

Hello and Happy New Year CTY friends!!

I’m so happy to be back with you again this year! Hope you are all well and have had a lovely festive season! Today I am up sharing a Christmas layout I created while we had a little down time, and I’m using the Merry and Bright cut file and some older Christmas pics of my girls.

I think I have mentioned before that I am Christmas scrapping convert, and one of the ways I have made this work for me is to use non-conventional colour stories on my Christmas pages. For this page I have gone with green, black and white, and I love how this works!

I have used the Merry and Bright cut file as my title, which I had cut out from white cardstock, and have coloured it using a black Posca pen. This is such an easy way to alter your cut files, and in this instance I feel it made the file stand out a lot better on my page.

I have used a black Charms Creation star over the top of the star in the file, and I love how this gives the title a bit more dimension, which can sometimes be tricky with really fine files like this one.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Make sure you stop by and check out the Christmas Shop for lots more cut files to document all your Christmas memories!

Take care out there.

Big Loves, Tam x

Dear Santa | Gift Wrapped cut file | Tarrah McLean

Happy New Year creative friends!!

It’s Tarrah back with you and today I am sharing a new Christmas themed layout featuring the pretty Gift Wrapped cut file.

Gift Wrapped cut file

I cut out the cut file as large as I could from a red patterned paper from the Crate Paper Busy Sidewalks collection, I then backed parts of the ribbon with a plaid patterned paper from the 6′ x 8′ paper pad. I then adhered the cut file to a plain white cardstock background using regular adhesive, placing it a bit straighter than the example in the cut file image.

I placed my photo using craft foam, and the layers underneath, towards the top right of my page so I didn’t cover up the cut file design too much. I tucked in some tag die-cuts at the bottom of the photo and some more die-cuts, chipboard and stickers around the photo. I opted for some gold puffy title stickers for my title, these were perfect to add as a title as they didn’t cover up too much of the cut file either. I also placed a flair button here. Lastly I stamped the date stamp and sprinkled some black mist.

I love how this layout looks like a gift you can open up with the pretty bow and ribbon! I really enjoyed creating this layout and I hope you enjoyed reading how I created it?!

May your 2022 be the most memorable, happy and healthy year yet!

Happy creating!

Merry Everything | Tarrah McLean

Hi creative friends and Merry Christmas! I hope you all had a wonderful few days celebrating!

It’s Tarrah back with you to share a new Christmas layout featuring the awesome Merry Everything title cut file.

Merry Everything cut file

I started by cutting the Merry Everything cut file design out of white cardstock and then backed it with different papers from the Kringle & Co collection by Photoplay Paper. Once it was all backed I adhered the cut file with foam tape to the left of a patterned paper background also from the Kringle & Co collection. I then trimmed this paper down and matted the entire layout on the red plaid paper.

I adhered my photo to the right of the cut file with a small plaid paper layered under the photo. I added a gorgeous red and black heart from Charm’s Creations to the left of the photo and also added a flair from Just Add Flair to the centre of the ‘R’ in Every.

I kept the embellishing fairly simple, adding just a few stickers and die-cuts here and there. I like to add embellishments to the top of my cut files, I like how this helps to draw your eye to the cut file. Lastly I stamped the date stamp.

Thanks so much for stopping by the CUT to YOU blog today! I hope you all had a lovely time celebrating Christmas.

Be sure to check out the CUT to YOU online store for all the amazing cut file designs to purchase!

Happy creating!

25 Days of Christmas | Fast, Fun and Festive Scrapbook Ideas | Day 25

Hi Creative friends, Gwen with you back on the blog for the last day of our 25 Days of Christmas blog feature. I have one last Scrapbook layout idea for you, its a special layout about the night before Christmas.

I started the layout by backing the ‘December Title’ cut file in a mix of pattern papers from the Cocoa Vanilla Studio ‘Joyful’ collection. I’ve used the paper stack for this as the prints in the designs are a smaller format to those in the 12×12 sheets. I love how you can see more pattern in the open space of the cut file when working with these sized papers.

December Title Block

I’ve then gone ahead and created my background for the layout and mounted my photo. I’ve then added my signature stitching, I am crushing on this contrasting thread for this collection.

For the design of the page, I’ve gone with the photo on the left and then the title block cut file on the right. I’ll also be adding most of my embellishments on the right hand side of the page. I was also super keen to use one of the puffy sticker words to make my title ‘December Moments’. I’ve layered the puffy title over the top of the cut file, you can see above the beautiful shine on these stickers.

This photo was taken on Christmas Eve so I could not help but use this sweet sticker from the collection… just one sleep until Christmas! The number one is a Thicker from my stash, and was the perfect shade of Gold.

I’ve used a mix of chipboard and stickers, wood buttons and die cuts from the collection to embellish the page. Adding these details on top of the cut file. I am careful that I don’t add too many things, ensuring that the letters are still able to be read easily.

I finished up the page with some gold star elements and die cut stars from the Ephemera pack which you can see here.

I have also made a YouTube video of my process for this one which you can watch here:

25 Days of Christmas | Fast, Fun and Festive Scrapbook Ideas | Day 21

Hey & hello CUT to YOU friends!! Melinda here with you today for day 21 of our 25 days of Christmas and I hope that you have been loving all the inspiration around here as much as I have!! Also, with only 4 short sleeps until the big day I hope you are ENJOYING this time of year, whatever you are doing!!

Like I said, I’m here sharing for day 21 and here is my layout.

For this one I chose the super fun “Christmas Banner” cut file. I LOVE this cut file. Seriously LOVE, however, I had a really hard time trying to work out just how I wanted to incorporate it into a layout before I created this page. But I super love my page and am glad that I waited for the “right” page to create!!

One thing that REALLY helped me with this page was selecting a collection to work with before I did anything further than cut my cut file. I’ve chosen the Cocoa Vanilla Studio “Merry & Bright” collection from 2020, pulled out the A5 paper stack, popped on a fave Christmas movie and got to tracing, cutting and sticking. Before I knew it, I had a completely backed cut file to work with and a collection to embellish with!!

Photo choice was next and I found this photo of my boys from Christmas 2018 with Santa and I really LOVED how the bold colours in the photos contrasted with the colours in the CVS collection.

With all of my elements now chosen the page kinda just fell together from here. I did add some gold machine stitching along the “string” parts of the banner and around the photo which of course meant I had to finish the page with some gold splatter!!

Working with a biggish cut file like this can make the process super quick after you’ve backed the cut file. And it’s so easy to pick up the cut file and sneak in 5 minutes here or there when you’re busy to back the cut file too!!

I hope you have enjoyed my share today and if you’d like to see my page come together just hit that play button below or head on over to my YT channel!!

25 Days of Christmas | Fast, Fun and Festive Scrapbook Ideas | Day 19

Hello Everyone, it’s Piroska here today with my latest post for CUT to YOU. I hope you all follow our 25 Days of Christmas fun on the blog and get the digital cut files each day from the shop 80% off. If you haven’t yet, it’s time to do so, Christmas is coming 😉

For my inspiration I chose the Happy Christmas Circle Cut File. I love these circle cut files, they are so special, and you can play with them a lot! You can cut them multiply times in different sizes, or just one time, but you can still make different layouts with it.

First I cut the Happy Christmas Circle cut file from white cardstock. My idea was to highlight the circle design of the cut file and make a dimensional layout. So first I cut the edge of the cut file with my circle cutter. After that I backed the letters of the cut file with some red patterned paper. I used the Winter Cottage collection of Simple Stories from last year.

I cut a smaller circle from a patterned paper of the Winter Cottage collection and an other one in smaller size. To add a special effect I cut some circles from gold glitter cardstock and added them under the cut file and one of the patterned papers, and the photo.

I started to glue everything down – I added some foam under each section to get it more dimensional. It is almost like a tiered cake 😀

Then I cut some pine branches with my Sizzix and glued them around the biggest circle. It looks like an Advent wreath.

I also cut some other branches and some poinsettia flowers with my Sizzix, and decorated my photo and the layout with them diagonally.

25 Days of Christmas | Fast, Fun and Festive Scrapbook Ideas | Day 11

Rebeca Ruiz on the blog today guest designing. I hope you are having a joyful day! Today I’m sharing with you a layout I designed for Cut To You by Gwen 25 Days of Christmas’ projects share. I used the Star Cluster cut file, it is a beautiful design that can be used for Christmas projects but also for many other themes like birthdays, Disney, and more. Go to her blog for more Christmas ideas and don’t forget to visit her shop for amazing designs! But now, let’s talk about this layout and how I made it. Also, you can see the process video at the end of this post.

I started this layout by cutting the cut file twice, in different sizes. The biggest cluster was backed using a metallic vellum but you can use any kind of vellum for this. The smaller cluster was backed using patterned papers from Cocoa Vanilla Studio Merry and Bright collection.

Star Cluster

I started by cutting the Leaf Sprigs design from white cardstock and then backed the leaves and berries with different patterned papers. I will admit, it did take a little time to get the spaces all backed neatly however I love how it turned ouI separated the stars from the cluster using a scissor and fixed the end points, then added them on top of the vellum cluster using foam tape in the center. This creates a beautiful effect and adds dimension to the layout.

To help the cut file stand out in the white background, I added a coral paint to it. For that, I prepared the white cardstock with clear gesso and let it dry. Then, using Shimmerz paints in Peachy Keen and Cheeky Pink mixed together and diluted in water, I added color to the paper using a brush. Once the paint was dry, I added splatters using the same coral paint, Shimmerz in Miner, Miner 49er, and white acrylic paint.

To enhance the stars a little more, I used gold gumdrops from Your Next Stamps. They look great in the stars and add that glitter and gold touch that is perfect for Christmas projects.

When the background paint was dry and ready, I started adding the papers to the layout. For that, I used a sheet of green gingham from the 6″ x 8″ paper pad because this pattern is not available in the 12″ x 12″ papers. Then, using a doily border punch by We R Memory Keepers I created two borders, one in peach and the other in blue, both using patterned papers from the collection. I love adding these touches to my project because they are simple, I can use my punches, and they gives the layout texture, dimension, and interest, while making the layout more elegant, girly, and pretty.

For more texture, I distressed the edges of the papers and photo mats a little. The title was made using Thickers from American Crafts in gold. I always add a little bit of liquid adhesive to secure them to the layout because I live in a hot and humid island and they tend to fall from the pages.

Since I love to stitch in my projects and recently bought a metallic gold thread, I wanted to use it and this was the perfect opportunity. I reduced the white cardstock to 11 3/8″ x 11 3/8″ and framed it with the woodgrain paper. In the video you can see that I save the interior part of the woodgrain paper by making a frame of 1″ around all the border before adding the layout to it.

The last detail I added to the layout were wood stars that I had in my stash. I don’t know who made them because I bought them in a local craft store some time ago and placed them in a resealable bag without any info on the manufacturer. They are very cute and came in three sizes, which add interest and balance the layout.

This is a quick and fun layout that you can replicate to document your Christmas memories or any other moment. If you want to see a quick process video of how I made it, you can find it in my YouTube channel. If you like and enjoy the video, don’t forget to give it a like and subscribe to my channel for more inspiration.

25 Days of Christmas | Fast, Fun and Festive Scrapbook Ideas | Day 10

Hello CUT to YOU and Christmas fans!! Melinda here with you for day 10 of the CUT to YOU 25 Days of Christmas!
Each day this month right up to (and including) Christmas Day you’ll want to check back here for all the fun things we are sharing and, I for one, have had so much fun creating to help inspire YOU to create fun and festive layouts!!
Enough chit chat, here’s my layout for you for today!!

And I chose the gorgeous “Poinsetta Wreath” cut file to work with today. I love poinsettia’s so this cut file is just darling!!

I am playing with the Simple Stories “Vintage North Pole” collection – I CANNOT resist a vintage Santa – and have very simply backed my cut file using the 6×8 paper pad using traditional poinsettia colours.

Just to shake things up a little – I don’t love the traditional green & red Christmas combo – I decided to use some pink cardstock for my background with a dark green pattern paper to edge the entire page. This particular pink shade is super hard to photograph “correctly” but the image below is the best match to real life 😉

Most of the “work” for this page was the backing of the cut file which felt like it took no time when I popped on a fave Christmas movie and got to tracing, cutting and sticking!

I chose an OLD photo of myself and my little brother from 1985 with Santa and kept the whole page pretty simple but LOVE how my cut file and photo just POP off that background!

Finally, a process video for you to watch my page come together if that kind of thing is your jam! Hit that play button below and I hope that you enjoy!!
