2020 Holiday Card | Christmas Banner | Nicole Bingaman

Hello creative peeps, Nicole again! I am so excited to share another project this month. Today I am sharing a layout I created to document our Holiday Card for friends and family from 2020.

I paired my holiday card with a sketch that showed a lot of hand cut banner pieces. I immediately remembered the Christmas Banner Digital Cut File in the shop. Using a cut featuring cute layered banner all in one piece stepped up the dimension and interest in one step.

I cut both banners with my Cameo on white textured cardstock. I didn’t have a large enough piece of gold paper to cut the files with gold, so instead I used gold stamping ink and a dauber to color the white cardstock gold. This took the plain white outline up another notch.

I used 6×6 paper pads to back the openings in both banners. Knowing that one of the banners would be flipped and arching across the top of my photo card I made sure to be aware of any papers that featured text on them to insure that they were right side up in the finished product.

Once I had all the openings filled in, I attached the banners to the layout with liquid glue. Then I layered on lots of different products to add depth and dimension to the banners with die cuts, brads, enamel dots and stickers.

You can see the entire process in the video below, I love sharing my layouts over on YouTube and love chatting in the comments!

25 Days of Christmas | Fast, Fun and Festive Scrapbook Ideas | Day 23

Hello! Hello! It’s Clair here and I am thrilled to be back as a Guest Designer for the 25 Days of Christmas! It’s been such a fantastic event and I have lots of ideas ready to use in my own Christmas albums!

As soon as I saw the ‘Jingle Bells‘ cut file from Cut To You, I immediately said “Every time a bell rings, an angel gets his wings” and knew that I would use the cut file to document my love for the film, It’s A Wonderful Life. It is my favourite Christmas film and, whenever I’ve been able, I visit our local theatre for their special Christmas Eve showing. It’s a lovely seasonal tradition and I’ve documented it several times in my albums. So, instead of a layout, I decided to create a Memorydex card – and have a little fun with the cut file and the beautiful Twinkle All The Way collection from Rosie’s Studio.

I sized the Jingle Bells cut file to around 5 inches across (Memorydex cards need a base of no more than 4 inches, but if you add the main focal to a base, you can make them a little wider) then backed it with patterned papers from the Rosie’s Studio collection, before I added it to a Memorydex base. I then created a little embellishment cluster – which includes a beautiful little angel. Lastly, I typed up the quote, and added it to my Memorydex card like journalling strips. Voila!

I have a lot of seasonal quotes and lyrics that I would love to document and it’s my intention to create some more Memorydex cards with my favourite Cut To You cut files! Do you think you could use this method to document any of your own favourites? Please visit me on Instagram and let me know!

25 Days of Christmas | Fast, Fun and Festive Scrapbook Ideas | Day 13

Hi CUT to YOU fans! It’s December which means all of the Design Team are having fun using some of the fab Christmas collection cut files that you can find in the store here.

Over here in the UK, the cold weather has settled in and it has started to go dark by 4pm…. winter is coming! So I had to scrap a photo of my husband and I on the one snow day we had last year! Which meant I just had to use the fab Snowflake cut file that you can find here in the store….

I decided to go large and cut the Snowflake cut file big enough to fit across the 12 x 12 background, and once it was cut I painted it with a clear, shimmery paint that adds just the right amount of sparkle! And just to finish it off I stitched through it with silver thread.

Then I picked out this pretty snowflake patterned paper from the Vicki Boutin ‘Warm Wishes’ collection to use as my background, just love the teal colour with all the white snowflakes! To add a bit more sparkle I stitched around the border a few times using silver thread.

I then mounted the Snowflake cut file onto the background using sticky foam pads to add dimension.

My photo is mounted on some white tissue paper to add some separation between that and the background. I then stuck it down just to the left of the layout

Now I normally like to use lots of embellishments but when playing around with them decided that actually the layout really didn’t need many at all as it would have just detracted from the the cut file, plus with the patterned paper background it was already pretty busy. So, opted for a couple of chipboard stickers from the ‘Warm Wishes’ collection and then the flair badge and tassel from my stash… easy peasy!

The only extra embellishments I added were the pretty holographic flat backed droplets, and I added these to the Snowflake cut file and to some of the snowflakes on the background paper.

All that was left to do was add my title and some journaling!

25 Days of Christmas | Fast, Fun and Festive Scrapbook Ideas | Day 12

Hello! Hello! It’s Clair here and I am thrilled to be back as a Guest Designer for the 25 Days of Christmas event here at Cut To You!

The ‘Bauble Trio’ cut file is really versatile and the individual elements are so easy to resize for smaller format layouts, albums or mini books (and I am sure that I’ll use them for other projects) but today I’ve created a 9×12 layout with the cut file as a focal. It’s so sparkly and fun – and I just love how it turned out!

First, I found this photograph of my little cat, Banbury. Our cats are thrilled every time the Christmas decorations make an appearance and, we captured this photograph of her playing with the baubles on the tree in December 2019. There have definitely been a few cat/ornament incidents, but their joy is so infectious!

I resized the photograph to 3×4 which works well for a 9×12 layout, then I resized each of the bauble elements so that the bows are around 3 inches across. I chose to use a super sparkly glitter card to back some of the ornament details, before I backed the remainder of the ornaments with some of my Felicity Jane stash. Once the cut files were backed and decorated, I added my journalling and some gold splattering to my cardstock, before layering the baubles with my photograph onto the base. Then, I added some extra embellishments from my Felicity Jane stash – thrilled to find a few smaller baubles that work well with the cut files!

I then mounted the Snowflake cut file onto the background uPlease visit me on Instagram and let me know your favourite ornament related Christmas memories!

Cute Snapshot | Kirei Baldwin

Hi everyone! It’s CUT to YOU’s 2nd Birthday and Gwen has a month of celebrations going on including a YouTube hop with some fab Guest Designers, a bunch of new cut files, and two fun challenges with prizes to be won!

My first layout for the month uses one of the brand new cut files called Star Trio that can be found here in the shop.CutToYou_KireiBaldwin_CuteSnapshot_layoutA_July2020

XStarTrio

I also played along with the Moodboard Challenge that was full of pretty pinks, pops of black and lots of fun images to be inspired by! Anyone can join in as long as you use a CUT to YOU cut file on your layout, then add your layout to the relevant album in the CUT to YOU HQ Facebook group to be in with a chance to win a prize pack!  Entries close 10th August 2020.

Now when I started my layout I wasn’t quite sure what I was going to do other than I wanted to cut out lots of the stars and paint them all! I painted them while they were still on the Silhouette mat as that makes it easier. I also added some white and gold splatters, then let them dry before removing them from the mat. Then I stitched each one onto the white cardstock background with gold thread.

This was mounted onto a bright pink patterned paper frame and also stitched with gold thread.

I added a square photo that I mounted onto some patterned paper and white tissue paper. Then added lots of coordinating embellishments along the bottom of the photo including ephemera flowers, hearts and tags, a pink tassel, flair badge, puffy hearts and gold twine.

My title was stuck to some of the bright pink patterned paper so that it stood out from the background.

My journaling is on one of the two tags that I popped behind my photo.

I added more gold splatters to the entire layout and then lots of pretty pale pink sequins to finish off.
