CUT to YOU | Rose Garden Frame Cut File | Merry Memories | Melinda Sweetman

Hey and hello CUT to YOU friends!! Melinda here with my next share for you all featuring another stunning CUT to YOU cut file.

Yep, it’s a Christmas page using a NOT Christmas cut file!! I’ve used the gorgeous Rose Garden Frame cut file released a couple of months ago and I just LOVE how it came together!

As you can see on my page I have actually flipped this cut file so that my page “reads” more top left to bottom right. I chose this gorgeous cut file as I had recently received the stunning new Cocoa Vanilla Studio “Joyful” collection and I just knew that the colours and patterns in that would work beautifully to back the cut file!

I’m working on textured white cardstock with a pattern paper border from the collection – “Tis The Season” – and some gold stitching to add some texture and a beautiful border to pull it all together.

I used the flip the cut file and pattern paper over, trace, cut and glue to back my cut file and, like I said before, just LOVE how beautiful this looks!

I did some very simple mixed media in my background using a flat paint brush and 2 colours of Distress Oxide – Abandoned Coral & Candied Apple – to add a texturey painty finish to my background. And, of course, some gold splatters with Heidi Swapp Gold Colour Shine.

WIth my cut file taking up so much real estate on the page the rest of my page came together super quickly!!
I layered my title over the bottom of my photo and added a few small pieces to add interest.
Another small cluster to the top right of my photo and then some of the gorgeous puffy gold stars to round out my page.

This cut file is just beautiful and I am so, so glad that I picked this one to work with. I think it just goes to show how verstile cut files can be and that we can really use them in so many different ways! Make sure to check this one out along with all of the gorgeous florals Gwen creates over in the CUT to YOU shop!

If you’d like to see this page come together hit that play button below!! I hope you enjoy!

Until next time, happy scrapping!!

Together | Kirei Baldwin

Hi CUT to YOU fans! I’m back with another layout featuring a cut file from one of the releases earlier this year called Floral Mandala 2 which you can find here in the shop….

I decided to back the cut file with different patterned papers from Cocoa Vanilla Studio ‘These Days’ collection, which I raised up with foam pads to add the dimension that I love!

As I was going to add the cut file to a white cardstock background I wanted some additional colour so that it popped from the background. I used some paints from my stash in coordinating blue and coral colours and applied them using the ‘packaging’ technique and then flicked lots of splatters with a paintbrush. I then stuck that to a frame of the woodgrain paper from the ‘These Days’ collection and stitched a border around the edge using white thread, subtle but adds texture and definition.

Once the cut file was stuck down I could add my photo which I mounted to one of the coordinating journaling cards and the scalloped edge frame ephemera.

I then added a couple of floral clusters either side of my photo.

A few fussy cut butterflies added at opposite corners helps draw the eye to the centre of the layout.

Finally the ‘together’ title from the Foam Title Stickers pack was added just below the photo. I did add my journaling but forgot to do it before I took the photo, but it is there!

Happy Together | Kirei Baldwin

Hi CUT to YOU fans! I have another layout to share using the older Hearts on Strings cut file which you can find here in the shop! I decided to use it as a layer between the patterned paper background and my photo so that it added some definition but also highlighted that fabulous ombre paper from the new Cocoa Vanilla Studio ‘These Days’ collection.

I cut the Hearts on Strings cut file in white cardstock so that it popped out from the background. I stuck it down flat but only used glue in a few places so that parts of it still lifted slightly as I wanted to keep some dimension in my layout.

Then I took all the inner hearts that were leftover from the main cut file and painted them in colours to match the background, using some pretty shimmery watercolours from my stash.

My portrait photo was mounted on a coordinating piece of patterned paper and I stuck that down centrally using sticky foam pads on the top edge only. On the bottom edge I added my title using the ‘Happy Together’ from the ephemera pack raising it up on sticky foam pads.

With the hearts now all dry I added them around the photo raising some on foam pads and leaving others flat (though only using glue in the centre) as I curved up the edges.

Then I added lots of embellishments from the collection… puffy stickers, ephemera, clear stickers, wooden buttons, gold hearts and little word stickers.

To finish off I stitched a border around the edge of the layout in gold thread as I just felt it needed something to pull it together and flicked some splatters of gold paint all around the cut file.

Chasing Rainbows | Tarrah McLean

Hi creative friends!

It’s Tarrah back with you and today I am sharing a new scrapbook layout featuring the gorgeous Chasing Rainbows cut file! I pulled out the gorgeous Sunkissed collection by Cocoa Vanilla Studio to use with this cut file.

The Chasing Rainbows cut file

I cut the Chasing Rainbows cut file from white cardstock as I normally do and then chose some cute patterned papers to back behind the design. For the rainbow section of the cut file I chose some bright, striking papers and behind the clouds in the design I chose the cloud paper. In the title part of the design, I picked 2 of the bright papers from the rainbow section to repeat down in the title. Once it was all backed, I adhered it with craft foam underneath to a plain piece of white cardstock. I love the shadows and dimension this adds to my page.

I trimmed down the white cardstock background and matted the entire layout with two gorgeous 12′ x 12′ patterned papers from the Sunkissed collection. With big cut file designs like this one, sometimes it is difficult to decide where your photo/s are going to be placed. I usually audition all of the possibilities for my photo and decided on the right of my design was the best. I did not mind that the photo covered part of the cloud at the top and part of the title at the bottom.

Once my photo was placed, it was time to embellish! Under my photo to the left, I added a 3′ x 4′ journal card, I just loved the colours in this card and the big large sun was perfect! I like how the card draws your eye towards the photo too. I also stapled a small yellow, rainbow banner sticker to the top right corner of my photo too. On top of the small sun in the cut file, I added a wood epoxy bead of a sun, this was the perfect place for this! I added some small puffy stickers around my page and also one of the large rainbow die cuts above the photo. Lastly I added some accessory phrase stickers to help tell the story, I added these to the top of the cloud on the left and stamped the date stamp on the right of my photo.

Thanks so much for stopping by the CUT to YOU blog today! I hope you enjoyed my layout as much as I enjoyed creating it?! I just love Gwen’s cut files so much! There are some amazing cut file designs in the CUT to YOU online store so make sure to check them out!

Happy creating!

CUT to YOU | Floral Banner 3 Cut File | This Face! | Melinda Sweetman

July is here which means it is time to celebrate!! Yep, it’s CUT to YOU’s birthday month which means lots of fun inspiration for you and each of us DT members have been given instructions to scrap lift the boss! Here is the page that I created and I just LOVE how it turned out!

Here is the Boss Lady’s original page that I lifted.

Pretty close, yeah?! AND I was able to totally make my page more ME!!!
Did you notice that in Gwen’s original design there is NO cut file?!? Well, I can’t scrap lift the boss for birthday month without using a cut file so I chose this gorgeous Floral Banner #3 (yep, I’ve used it before!!) to replicate the horizontal lines in Gwen’s orginal page.

The other very obvious (to me at least!!) thing on Gwen’s page that I wanted to include on mine was the almost vertical design with the florals and the photo. I have manipulated the Floral Banner #3 cutfile in the Silhouette software to replicate and re-size just the florals and then cut those on white cardstock as well.

I chose the Cocoa Vanilla Studio “Unforgettable” collection for this page. I thought that it would compliment the photo’s I’m scrapbooking perfectly and I couldn’t have been more right!! I love it!!

I’ve backed the cut files using the 6×8 Paper Stack. And then in true Gwen style I have created cascading clusters both above and below the photos. Even chopping off parts of the extra florals to then tuck in else where!

Gwen also used a couple of butterflies on her layout so I knew that I simply HAD to incorporate a couple into mine! There were 2 left in the ephemera pack and they worked beautifully, one on either side of the photos!

In order to take this page from “Gwen” to “Melinda” I added some messy thread behind the 2 butterlies and finished off with some Rose Gold splatters to tie in the Thickers I used to build my title. Definately a “Melinda” page but I think I totally nailed the “scraplift the Boss Lady” brief! What do you think??

I’ll leave you with my scrapbook process video below AND make sure you are a member of the CUT to YOU HQ group on FB – you really don’t want to miss any of the fun for birthday month!!

I hope that you have enjoyed my share today and that you are thoroughly enjoying all of the extra inspiriation we have for you this month! Remember to check back in the store for NEW RELEASES (so fun!!) and, if you haven’t already, make sure you check out this post for all you need to know about applying to be a part of this amazing DT team!!

Until next time, happy scrapping!

CUT to YOU | Selfie Cut File | First Let Me Take a Selfie | Melinda Sweetman

Melinda here with you today sharing my latest creation with a super fun cut file on a super fun scrapbook layout!

I’ve used the “Selfie” cut file which you can find here in the store. Isn’t it so fun!

The photo’s I’m scrapping today are fun Summer photos so what better collection to pair them with than the vibrant Sunkissed collection by Cocoa Vanilla Studio!!

My cut file was cut in textured white cardstock and I cut it BIG!! I’ve used my Cameo to also cut the letters from the “Bright Side” 12×12 pattern paper. And the A5 Paper Stack to back the camera and a couple of layers behind my fun photo strip on the left hand side.

I just LOVE this floral camera and wish I could have one in real life! How fun would that be?!??

As you can see I have used a photo behind the lens of the camera. I just love how that brings your focus to the photo and then directs you around the rest of the page!

My largest photo was a tiny bit not wide enough, so to cover that up I’ve created an embellishment cluster, right on top of the photo and the cut file. From there I wanted to draw the eye diagonally across and down the page to my other photos.

If you’d like to see this page come together just hit that play button below! I hope you enjoy!

With such a large cut file most of my page was already designed for me so this one came together pretty quickly. And I love that I was able to overlap a few things without losing either the meaning or design of the cut file.

I hope that I have inspired you to perhaps create with a really BIG cut file or maybe to use a photo as a part of the backing of a cut file. Make sure you head over to the shop for all of the beautiful and fun designs Gwen has been loading up! Have you seen that there’s a new category in the shop for Bundles!!?! So, so great AND there is a disount when you buy any of them!

Have a fab, scrappy day and I’ll see you soon with my next share!

CUT to YOU | Spring Floral Edge Cut File | Fur Mum | Melinda Sweetman

Hey and hello scrappy friends!!
Who else is in total shock that we are already in June?!? Where has the last 5 months disappeared to?
Anyway, Melinda here to share my latest creation with you and I do hope you enjoy!

I used the gorgeous “Spring Floral Edge” cut file for this one and I just love the way this came together!

I have duplicated and flipped the cut file in Silhouette Studio to create an almost 12″ vertical strip. When I was happy with the overlap of the 2 pieces I welded them together and cut them as a long vertical piece. I would love to take full credit for this idea but I cannot – I did see it somewhere else a couple of months ago but sadly cannot remember who’s it was!! But full credit to that incredible scrapper!! Thank you for your inspiration!

As you can see, after I cut the design I have carefully pieced it all back together. The negative pieces were stuck directly to my background while the floral/leaves were popped up on little pieces of foam to create this 3D look! So effective!!

I have picked the Cocoa Vanilla Studio “Sunkissed” collection to work with for this page. With that very colourful background I wanted to add some contrast so threw in a few pieces of black along with my title acrylic piece. I love the way the black makes everything pop.

I have kept my embellishing pretty simple with a few florals around my photo and title. I made sure to connect my floral pieces to the cut file to make it all work together.

I have a process video for you which is linked below! I. hope that you enjoy!

I really love how this cut file has become a part of the page background rather than the main focus. So often it’s a case of “look, there’s a cut file!!” it’s nice to do something a little different! And still so, so effective!

There are so, so many designs in the store that you could use this technique on, make sure you check them out! I particularly love the “Stained Glass 1” and the “Triangles Stacked” designs for this idea!!

Until next time friends, happy a scrappy day!

CUT to YOU | Floral Banner #3 Cut File| Love You Mini Album | Melinda Sweetman

Hey there and welcome to the CUT to YOU blog today!!
Melinda here to share my most recent creation using a CUT to YOU cut file!

Yes!! That is a mini album!!
Something different for me and all of the pages have been created using the Floral Banner #3 cut file.

So, I’ve got a tutorial video for you today showing exactly my process for what and how I cut this cut file in a couple of different ways to create my mini album pages and some step by steps below!

Firstly, after I had opened and traced the cut file in Silhouette Studio, I horizontally flipped the cut file so the banner was on the right hand side. This piece is then what I used to create the different layers and becomes the backed cut file on the front page.

The black base pages were created by doing an offset of the original file, setting it to 0.075in for the offset.
I then removed all of the inner pieces of the new, slightly bigger, cut file.

I used my Cameo to cut all of the internal pieces of the florals and the banner to easily back my cut file.

This was done by copying the original file and then releasing compound path.
Delete the entire outside edge of the cut file.

Next, select all of the pieces of 1 floral, right click and select “make compound path” and repeat for other florals and the leaves with 2 pieces.

Once all of your compound paths have been created select florals, banner and leaves and do another offset. This one was set to 0.05in.
After confirming your offset, delete the smaller, internal, original pieces.

Now, you have the cover cut file pieces ready to cut along with the black base pages. All that is left is the pattern paper pieces that get layered onto the black cardstock.

Once again, make a copy of the original cut file and release compound path. This time you need to delete all of the internal pieces which will leave you with just the outline which is the part you want cut to layer onto the cardstock.

It seems complicated and a little tricky but once you get started and the more you practice the easier it becomes and honestly, making mini albums with cut files means the only constraints you have to work within is your own imagination!!

I have used a Cocoa Vanilla Studio collection, Fresh Cut, to create my album and used some Storybook sequins by Spieglmom Scraps to add those finishing touches.

I’m certain you worked out that this was a gift for a very close friend of mine and I’m happy to report that she loves it!

Have you ever used cut files to create a mini album?? What cut file from the store do you think would make a great mini? I’d love to know!

Oh, and bonus!!! I almost forgot, I also have a video flip through of this mini for you!! I do hope you enjoy and I’m looking forward to sharing my next creation with you soon!! Until then, happy scrapping!

Everyday Is An Adventure | Tarrah McLean

Hi crafty friends!

Its Tarrah back with you today to share a new outdoors themed layout featuring the awesome Everyday Is An Adventure cut file.

Everyday Is An Adventure cut file

I cut the title cut file from white cardstock and backed all the words with open spaces with different patterned papers, making sure that there were not 2 patterned papers the same in each word. Once the words were backed, I turned the entire cut file design over and added craft foam underneath. I adhered the whole thing down in the centre of a woodgrain patterned paper background. I love the dimension this gives the page and I love how the white cut file looks against the woodgrain paper.

I added craft foam underneath my family photo and adhered it to the right of the cut file design covering up the stars in the design. With this cut file design, the obvious place to add your photo is where the stars are in the design however if you didn’t want to cover the stars, you could place a smaller photo here or choose a landscape orientated photo instead.

I love to add embellishments over the top of cut files, on this layout I have added some die-cuts. In between the cut file, I have added some enamel dots on contrasting colours. I added some clear stickers to white cardstock and then adhered them just below the cut file. I also included a flair button from Just Add Flair above the die-cut near my photo. The Legenday collection by Cocoa Vanilla Studio goes perfectly with this cut file and my photo, I love how my layout turned out.

Thanks so much for stopping by the CUT to YOU blog today! I hope you enjoyed my layout. Be sure to check out the CUT to YOU online store for amazing cut file designs for all kinds of projects!

Happy creating!

CUT to YOU | Sisters, Besties for Life | Melinda Sweetman

Hey there and welcome to the CUT to YOU blog this lovely Wednesday, aka Hump Day! Melinda here with you to share my latest creation!

When I decided it was time to scrap this photo of myself and my little sister I just couldn’t go past this “Besties for Life” cut file available in the store!

I’ve pulled out my Cocoa Vanilla “Sunkissed” collection (just swoon!!) to create this page as I love the bright and bold colours in it and thought they worked beautifully with this almost Summer 2020 photo!

I used the A5 Paper Stack to back my cut file and had my Cameo do all the “hard” work cutting the letters!

With the orientation and placement of faces in my photo I did have to do a little surgery on my cut file but that was easy to cover up with a cute heart puffy sticker!

There is a process video for this page which is linked below! This was all shot in ONE go! I can’t believe it lol and I do hope that you enjoy!

I’ll leave you with a few close up photo’s and I’ll see you again real soon with another share for CUT to YOU!
Make sure you are subscribed to the newsletter for all of the fun things…. Yep, that’s a little hint right there for iNSD 2021, wink wink!!
