Hello and welcome to the blog today. Melinda here with you and I am super excited to share this project with you!!
This was a Christmas gift for a friend and as soon as I saw the “Rainbow Burst” cut file I knew it would work perfectly with this photo!!
I’ve used the stunning “Daydream” collection by Cocoa Vanilla Studio and created my own background to work with this amazing cut file! I love, love, love that very subtle water colour rainbow under the photo, swoon!
You can hit play on the video below to see how I created this. This process video includes a little bit of a Silhouette Studio tutorial too which shows how I very slightly altered the cut file to suit my needs! I hope you enjoy and if you have any questions please let me know!
Finally, I will leave you with a few close up images of this page. I do hope you enjoy and that I have inspired you to create a subtle rainbow of your own maybe to work with this stunning new cut file!
Make sure you head over to the store for all of the new January releases and happy scrapping!! Mel
I started by cutting the design from white cardstock and chose 3 different patterned papers from the Hello Summer collection by Cocoa Vanilla Studio to back the sun and words with. I knew I wanted to back the sun with the awesome yellow sunburst paper, I then chose 2 other contrasting papers.
Once it was all backed….yes this does take some time….I added craft foam underneath the entire cut file and adhered the whole piece to another patterned paper in the Hello Summer collection that I chose as my background paper. I love the shadows and dimension this gives to my layout.
I love title cut files like this one where the design of your page is decided for you! The obvious place to adhere my photo was at the top of the cut file, I layered a patterned paper underneath and also added a kite die-cut here.
Another thing I love to do is to layer embellishments over the top of cut files. I like how this draws your eye to certain parts of my page and helps tell the story. You can see I have added a flair button and a wood veneer piece to the ‘O’ in ‘Hello’. I also added a few things to the sun shape and a phrase die-cut piece on top of the word ‘Sunshine’.
A few more embellishments were added around the cut file design including another flair button, accessory stickers, enamel hearts and some floral die-cuts.
Thank you so much for stopping by the CUT to YOU blog today, I hope you enjoyed my layout and that you are inspired in some way?! Make sure to check out the CUT to YOU online store for amazing cut file designs to suit any project!
Hello one final time for 2020 from me!!! And boy what a year it’s been! I don’t know about you but this year sure has given me time to think about the things I’m grateful for and lots of time to scrap!! Today I have for you a scrapbook layout about ME! And some fun winter PJ’s! I hope you enjoy!
I don’t know if you have seen this most gorgeous fox in the store but I have seriously been hanging out to use her for the longest time! She is “Mrs Fox” is available here in the CUT to YOU store. I have cut her on the “Stepping Stones” pattern paper in the Daydream collection by Cocoa Vanilla Studio. The colours in this collection were just PERFECT for this photo!
Gah, isn’t she just the cutest little fox ever?!? However, I do think she needs a “Mr Fox”, Gwen….. Anyways, I have backed her using the 6×8 Paper Stack in the Daydream collection and then used that gorgeous blue with the feathers for my background. Mrs Fox and my photo just pop right off that background!
As usual, I have a process video for you all! Please be aware, this video was made away from home so looks a little different to my “normal” videos but I figured a video was better than no video 😉
I’ll leave you with a few close up shots of this and I do hope that I have inspired you to scrap a little something about YOU!!
If you are reading this post the day it goes live there are only 9 short days until the excitement of Christmas morning is actually here! However you celebrate, even if your Christmas Day is a not a “traditional Christmas celebration”, I wish you all a magical day, filled with lots of love and laughter and hopefully surrounded by those you love!
Thanks for stopping by and have a fantastic remainder of December and 2020!! Mel xx
Hello, hello CUT to YOU friends and family!! I’m really excited to be here with you to share this somewhat (ok, ok, VERY!!) busy page that I created using 2 cut files and a quick and easy mixed media technique on my background!
And here is the first file I used – “Happy Birthday Title“. This was cut in white textured cardstock and backed with the 6×8 Paper Stack from Cocoa Vanilla Studio’s Legendary collection.
And the second one I used is “Rock Star“. Now, if you follow me you probably know that I love stars so when I saw this cut file when it was released I was so bummed when I didn’t come up with an idea straight away! But, it’s on a page now and I love it! This was cut on a pattern paper – Cocoa Vanilla Studio – Legendary – “Brave Heart”.
I’m also playing along with this fun CSI Challenge which is all about using older products!! I’ve pulled some acrylic paint from my stash as my “older stash” and then pulled on the fun, bright colours and also included lots of layers on my back ground and distressing.
Of course, I have a process video for you which is below! For me to include all the things it’s a bit longer than “normal” so make sure you grab a cuppa and I hope you enjoy!
I seriously had so much fun creating this page! It’s messy, bright, layered and features my boy on his 10th birthday with a few loving words from Mum to Son. I’ll leave with you a few close ups and make sure you head on over to CSI: Color Stories, Inspiration to join in one, some or maybe even ALL of the challenges that are current! Remember, CTY is a major sponsor!
I hope that you have enjoyed my share today and that it has inspired you to maybe play along with one of these challenges for some great prizes! Or perhaps, to try a new (maybe messy?!?) technique?!? I’d love to hear!
Oh, one last thing before I leave, have you seen the gorgeous new Christmas cut files in the store?!?? SO many beautiful designs! I can’t wait to share my next page with you, wink wink 😉 Thanks for stopping by and happy scrapping!
Hello Everyone! Sara with you today playing with one of this month’s new cut files, Love Your Selfie. This cut file is so fun, I especially love the cute Instax- like camera. I knew it would look fabulous backed with some fun patterns.
I paired the cut file with papers and embellishments from Cocoa Vanilla Studio’s new line, Daydream. I just got this collection and Im already hooked…these colors are swoon-worthy. I havent gotten any new lines in a while so I dug right in and went to work..well, play (creating this layout was anything but work!)
I paired the cut file with flowers, lots of flowers. Fussy cut flowers from the collection paired with die cuts. I added this cute little corduroy heart to the camers lens. The heart and the floral element really added whimsy to the camera.
My photograph is a selfie…with a llama. I have a confession, I love llamas. I wanted to add one to my page, but in a subtle way. So I added a “hidden llama” to one of my floral clusters. He is sooo cute, right??
I added a llama to my title using some Thickers and I added some more hearts to the middle of the letter O’s to create a visual triangle around my page. And if you look closely…you’ll find a little “hidden cactus” too.
I thoroughly enjoyed creating this layout. Using new products and brand new cut files was fun, and creative! Be sure to head over to the shop HERE and take a look at ALL the new cut files this month. You will not be disappointed!…promise!
As soon as I saw this cut file, I just knew I was going to create with it. Isn’t it gorgeous?! It can easily be used together with any scrapbook collection. I cut it from white textured cardstock and I will admit it took some time to back all those intricate leaves and flowers but isn’t the result so pretty? I love the pops of pinks and blues from the colours in the gorgeous Midnight collection by Cocoa Vanilla Studio.
Once I had all the flowers and leaves backed, I decided to add vellum to the square section in the centre. I then turned the whole thing over and added craft foam, I wanted to create some shadows and dimension once the cut file was placed onto my chosen background paper. You can see some of the shadows created in the detail photos.
I adhered the photo of my niece toward the right so that the bottom right corner could be tucked into the floral part of the cut file design. There was an item in the photo that I wanted to disguise so by tucking the photo in and adding some more florals in die cut and sticker form, I think it worked a treat!
I decided to split my title up to have the first word at the top and the rest at the bottom. This is a good way to draw your eye around the entire page. I kept the embellishing fairly minimal as I wanted the photo and the cut file to shine. In the centres of a few of the flowers, I did add some butterfly stickers, I love how it looks like they just happened to land there. A few heart die cuts, heart stickers and some phrase stickers finished off the page.
Thank you so much for stopping by the CUT to YOU blog today! Make sure you check out the amazing cut files in the CUT to YOU store. There is something for everyone! I hope you enjoyed seeing my layout today and that you were inspired in some way.
Hello, hello everyone and welcome to the blog today!! Melinda here to share my second creation with you for this oh so fun birthday month!!
Yep, that is back to school 2020! I tend to scrap as I feel inspired rather than chronologically. I have used the Back To School cut file released earlier this year which I really, really love and have had cut for ages!
This month was the PERFECT time to use this cut file and play along with the Two-Riffic Birthday challenge happening right now over in the HQ Facebook group! Head over here for the challenge album and have fun creating!
I have a process video for you which you can see below, just click that button, sit back and enjoy!
And here are a few close up details!
I hope you have enjoyed my share today and I look forward to seeing your creations for both of the fun Birthday challenges happening until 10th August!
Hello scrappy friends and welcome to the CUT to YOU blog today. Melinda here with you today sharing another scrapbook layout I created using 2 cut files!
The first file I used is clearly very obvious, this gorgeous title “Love this Moment” which I have cut on smooth white card stock.
The second cut file, which is a little less obvious, is the fun “Book Stack Background” cut file which is part of my back ground design. To get this one onto my page I have used my foil quill in my Silhouette Cameo with some pink foil and oh boy, I love this so, so much!
With my main element already on my background I got straight into the messy stuff!! I have added lots of blues using mostly Distress Oxide Ink pads and the packaging technique. My white back ground has not had any treatment at all. With the design in the back ground being foiled it didn’t smudge or get covered over when I added all of the colour which is one of the reasons I chose to foil it!
My title was going to be pretty prominent on my page so wanted to make a feature of this also. This took a bit more effort and quiet a few coats of paint, water colours and gesso but I got there in the end lol I was trying to make as close a match to the flowers in the back ground of my photo as I could! Happy in the end!
I backed the word “this” and the hearts in the cut file with an ombre blue paper from the Cocoa Vanilla Midnight collection. The hearts looked super dark so I added some white gesso and then some darker blue paint to add sparkle and some difference in colour.
Upon going through my stash after my cut file was done I chose to work with the Cocoa Vanilla Studio “Wild at Heart” collection. I used some paper scraps for layers behind my photo, some ephemera pieces and a few stickers.
I’ve also tucked in 3 fussy cut butterflies around my page – one big one to the left of my title and then 2 smaller ones. These were added to both above and below the photo.
With my page almost complete I felt like it needed something around the edges but I wanted to do something different. I ended up tearing a small section into each side of the card stock background and then mounted my whole page onto another pattern paper from the same CVS collection. Finishing off by adding in a few staples to the torn and rolled sections of card stock.
My final touch was my journalling which I have added in grey pen right to the book below my title so it’s “in” the book! A very subtle detail but I think it’s a bit fun 😉 And, I have a process video for you below, just hit play and I hope you enjoy!
I really, really love how this page came together. That cut file foiled in the back ground is so so fun and something a little different! You could use this effect with SO many of the cut files available in the store! My first stop to explore will be the “Backgrounds” section – how fun!!
I hope you enjoyed my share today and it has sparked some creativity for you! Until next time, happy scrapping!! Melinda
Hello friends and followers, its Michelle S back here today with my second share for this month. Sadly this is also my final layout share as part of the CUT to YOU Design team as its time for me to say farewell for a while. I have loved every minute of being part of this wonderful team, and I thank each and everyone of you for all the love and inspiration you have given and shared along the way. I’m not good with goodbyes so let’s just move on to the layout sharing shall we?
For this layout I chose a NEW cutfile from the June 2020 release – Create Title. A fun large title style design that I had intentions of using for a title, but during the process of creating became a fun rainbow background.
Like most cutfile layouts I create I started by cutting the design out on white cardstock and backed it using a rainbow painted stripe paper from the Happiness Collection by Cocoa Vanilla Studio. I adhered the entire cutfile design to the centre of some More white cardstock using some foam tape for dimension. I added an extra pop of colour around the edges of the layout by matting the white cardstock with the remnants of the rainbow paper used to cut the backing design out on, and sewed around the edges for a little extra texture.
The photo I chose to document is of my crafty space, one of my favourite places in our house and one that I’m very thankful to have. I’m extremely lucky to have a space all to my self and even though its big enough to share, its very rare that I need to.
By using the one pattern paper to back the cutfile I was able to save time by playing around with the design in silhouette studio to remove the centre pieces of each letter, leaving just the outlines. I regrouped them all together and cut the entire piece out On my cameo which is way easier than having to fussy cut each letter or word like I would normally do.
I did however do a little fussy cutting of some florals, cause I just cant help myself. I tucked these elements along with some ephemera pieces into the top of the photo and added some butterflies too.
Lastly I created a title using a cardstock word and some hand writing plus a mini cluster of elements to even out the layout. I also added a sprinkling of gold colour shine to finish it off.
Well friends that’s all from me today. Thank you so much for stopping by to see my last creation for CUT to YOU. Be sure to keep sharing your amazing inspiration within the CTY facebook group as I will still be popping in to see what you’re all creating.
Thanks for all the love, and as always… Until next time, Happy Scrapping! Michelle xx
