Jack + Sally | Halloween 1 Cut File | Belinda Jane

Hello beautiful friends! I’m so happy to be sharing another spooky layout with you this month. For this project, I used just one component from the Halloween 1 Cut File to create a fun base to build my layout fromt.

I have been loving the departure from my standard white cardstock cut files and the dynamic contrast that using black cardstock for my cut files is contributing to my Halloween layouts. To see how I created this layout in more detail, please go ahead and check out my process video below.

Here are a few more close up images of the completed layout.

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by today. I hope you have a great day!

Happy Halloween | Tarrah McLean

Hi creative friends!

It’s Tarrah back with you today to share a new Halloween themed layout. I chose the awesome Happy Halloween title cut file enlarging it slightly in the Silhouette Studio software and cutting it out from light blue cardstock for something a little different.

Happy Halloween cut file

I teamed the cut file with the Goosebumps collection by Pretty Little Studio, backing the Happy word with one patterned paper and the Halloween word with another. I then adhered the cut file to a grid style patterned paper background. I tucked my photo in to the top right of the cut file overlapping the Halloween word at the bottom.

On the web part of the cut file, I layered a colourful web die-cut and a punched out circle word on top of the web using foam tape. I added a few enamel dots around the page and also some stickers and phrases to help tell the story. I love to overlap embellishments on top of cut files as it draws focus and adds interest.

I kept the embellishing fairly simple on this layout as I felt the cut file makes a great statement on my page and I did not want to cover it up. A Halloween page would not be complete without a spider added, the die-cut one at the top of the page fits in so well as it balances with the web at the bottom of the cut file.

Happy creating!

The Best | Kirei Baldwin

Hi CUT to YOU fans! I’m sharing a layout using one of the newer cut files from the September release called ‘Sundae’ which you can find here in the shop…. it was just perfect to go with this photo of me and a rather large bubble waffle sundae!

I decided to use up some of the July Hip Kit Club kit that I had in my stash and used some of the patterned papers to back the cut file, using foam pads to create dimension.

I used white cardstock for my background and trimmed it down so that I could add a black patterned paper frame to it, which I then machine stitched a border in white thread.

I used a pink distress oxide to add a background using the packaging technique and when that was dry I added some stencilled hearts around the edges of the inky background. Then I finished off with some splatters of mint green shimmery watercolours.

Then I attached my fun Sundae cut file to the background and and added my photo which I mounted using a mix of patterned papers.

I added a large embellishment cluster to the right of my photo and then dotted around some sequins and small flat backed pink pearls.

I finished off with some journaling and a pretty pink title to match my sundae!

CUT to YOU | Popcorn Cut File | Keep Calm & Eat Popcorn | Melinda Sweetman

Hello scrappy friends, Melinda here with you today and I’m really excited to share this scrapbook layout I created!!

I’m using the super fun Popcorn cut file for this page that I’ve cut in textured white cardstock.

If you follow me at all on social media you will know that I have recently gotten adult braces so this particular indulgence of popcorn was well and truly planned for!! And then Gwen created this cutfile which is just perfect!!

I decided to use the very few pieces of a 2017 Summer collection, “Summer Lights” by Pink Paislee, along with only scraps to create this page.

Aren’t those holographic pops so, so fun?!? I actually used an envelope for those – it was totally the wrong size for the cards I make so I figured I’d use it a different, super fun way!

As I started designing this page I realised I had totally designed myself out of a place for journalling! With a little creativity and another scrap of pattern paper I created this flap for somewhere to add my journalling. Yes, it’s “hidden” but not secret. I’m thinking of adding a cut along the page protectorto have the bottom part of this page on the outside so if anyone flipping through our album cares to read my words it’s easily accessible!

I wanted a fun title and wasn’t really sure what to go with so used google for some ideas and came up with this fun one!

I have a process video for you if you’d like to see how this came together, just hit that play button below!!

I hope that you have enjoyed my share today!! Make sure you head over to the shop, Gwen has pulled together all of the super fun “At the Movies” cut files into a bundle!!

Until next time, happy scrapping!!
Mel

Make your move | Tamara Buckler

Hey hey scrappy friends,

I’m up today sharing my latest CTY layout using one of our new Chess cut files…. For a layout about skateboarding 😂😂

I started this project by altering the Cut File slightly by erasing the chess pieces, and then proceeded to cut it out of white card stock.

I then backed the open words using one piece of patterned paper. To make the cut file pop off the page a little more, I inked around the edges in black and then popped it up on foam tape.

I tucked the bottom of my photo under the ‘M’ on move. I find I do this on a lot of my pages where I use titles, I feel it connects the two largest elements on the page.

I created embellishment clusters to the bottom right of the cut file, the top left of the photo and the top right of the page. My spreading them out like this, it creates a visual triangle that captures the Cut File within it, which helps to create flow and focus on the page.

Thanks for stopping in today. Make sure you pop by the shop and grab yourself a Cut File today!

Happy Halloween | Belinda Jane

Hello friends! I am so excited to be sharing my first EVER Halloween layout with you today. The Happy Halloween Cut File was perfect for this layout.

I am so happy with the contrast between the black cardstock I used for the Happy Halloween Cut File, the pastel tones of the paper and embellishments and the pops of bright pink in the photo and butterfly embellishments.

You can see how I created this layout in my process video over on YouTube.

YOU | CROSSWORD BACKGROUND NO.1 | KAREN JARMAN

Hi CTY Friends Karen with you today. I hope you are able to get in some creative time. How did it get to October already, this year is just flying by and with Halloween approaching it has me thinking of Christmas but that is a whole other post!

My layout this week is embracing the colours of Halloween, Black, Purple and Orange which is all a perfect colour combination for the CSI Challenge Case Number 369!

The photo prompt for the challenge gave me the inspiration to use the Background Crossword No1 file. This represents the tiles in the chimney and for some dramatic flair I painted the file black using a paint pen.

I love how beautfully purple and orange sit boldly together and really pop off the page with the mixed media background

To see more of how I created this one you can visit YouTube here!

Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you can join in on the fun with the CSI challenge this month!

Happy Haunting | Ali Skifton

Hello my spooky CTY friends! It is Ali here with you today sharing a spooky layout using the Jack o’ lantern cut file that is currently in the shop. As soon as I saw Jack I knew he would be perfect for the haunted hike we did last Halloween at Phantom Lake. He reminded me of the huge Jack o’ lantern in the woods we came across during our spooky hike.

I wanted to cut Jack out of black cardstock since it is a Halloween layout. I used the new Halloween Party collection from Echo Park Paper to back fill Jack. I used 4 different patterned papers to make him a little more friendly looking than so scary. I back filled his eyes and mouth with colored paper from the collection since his body was busy with the other patterns. I used foam tape to add dimension to Jack.

Since I added Jack to another patterned paper I decided to keep it simple with other embellishments. I wanted the focus to be on Jack. I did add some black hand stitching on the white cardstock to frame him.

I triple matted this cut file and love how he is the main focus of this page, along with the spooky picture of his twin. Mwahahahaahhh! I hope everyone has a spooky Halloween Season and make sure to pick up this guy because you can use him for any of your Halloween Pictures this year!

Happy haunting my spooky friends!

Love, Ali xoxo

Happy Day | Tamara Buckler

Hey hey CTY friends!

Up on the blog today sharing my latest layout for Cut to You, and this time I’m using the Happy Day Title Cut File, but for a Halloween page!!

I don’t usually scrap Halloween, and up until the last few years we haven’t actually celebrated Halloween at all. But I finally relented and let my daughters trick or treat, and now I have photos to scrap! To find my inspiration, I have played along with this month’s CSI Challenge #369.

I have channeled the very traditional Halloween colours for the case file, cutting it in black card stock and using orange, purple and black patterned papers when backing my Cut File.

I added some mixed media to the background to pull in more elements from the inspiration piece and then popped the whole Cut File up on foam.

To finish off my page, I added a few embellishments clusters, and that was that. The Cut File literally did all of the work for me!

Thanks for stopping by! Make sure you check out the Halloween Cut Files over at the shop this month.

GUEST DESIGNER | CLAIR RIGBY

Hello Cut To You friends! It’s Clair, back today with another seasonal layout and, on the 1st October, it seems only fitting that it’s autumnal 🙂

I love the Celebration Flowers cut file and decided to use it to document my favourite break time spot – on the steps in my back yard. It’s beautiful out there in the early morning, or the late afternoon – with the scent of roses in the air – as the golden sunshine of autumn hits our yard.

To back the cut file, I used a soft gold, glitter cardstock and some vellum. Glitter cardstock can be a little tricky to combine with cut files, as it’s texture can make it ‘lift’. I recommend a wet adhesive and a lot of tea!

Once I had my cut file backed, I shifted the roses around a lot, before I found some balance. I then added a spritz of shimmer with Distress Spray Stain in ‘Tarnished Bronze’ which dries as a lovely soft colour. Sticking with a monochromatic look, I then added a lot of ‘extra’ leaves from the Jen Hadfield ‘Hey, Hello’ Collection and a title with alphas from Citrus Twist.

I’d then intended to add one of my favourite quotes about the beauty of the everyday, but it was a little too long and covered a lot of the lovely shimmer of the Distress Spray Stain. So, I’ll leave it to one side for a little while and, hopefully, I’ll find a suitable quote to add soon! Does anyone else set their layouts aside for a while before they consider them ‘finished’ and fileable? Perhaps you have a favourite quote you could share with me in the comments or in the Cut To You HQ over on Facebook? I’d love to know!

That’s all from me for now, but I’ll be back later in the year to finish off my little ‘tour’ of the seasons. In the meantime, I would love it if you would visit me over on Instagram, or on YouTube.
