For my layout, I chose to use an inlay technique for my layout. I hand painted each heart using Shimmerz acrylic paint or Distress Oxide ink in Vintage Photo. I then added some black splatter for a little extra detail.

Once the background was finished, the layout came together easily with some coordinating embellishments and paper.

Fabulous Happy Days | Tamara Buckler

Hello lovely CTY friends!!

I’m so happy to be back today to share another layout with you. I’m constantly trying to think of different ways to use our Cut Files, because I want to use them on all the things, and so today I have come up with a bit of a twist on a background file.

I have used an oldie but a goodie on this page – the Heart Lovers Unite Background Cut File – which I have used previously here.

Instead of treating this like a complete background, I resized it in my silhouette software, and trimmed around the hearts I needed to create the matt for my photo cluster.

I adhered some tissue paper behind the Cut File and used some foam tape to lift the matt up off the background.

I went around the outside of the Cut File matt in white roller pen for further definition, and roughed up the edges for some dimension. I think using black card stock against this background has really helped too.

I love how using the Cut File this way has held together all my photos and embellishments, and while it may not be the most prominent part of the layout, it plays a really important role because of this.

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope I’ve inspired you to use your Cut Files in different ways! Make sure you pop over to the shop to check out the latest release and all the new Christmas goodies!

Big Loves,

Guest Designer – Tracey Mc Kee

Hey Creatives,
Introducing our first guest designer for August – the very talented Tracy Mc Kee!
Hey Everybody! Tracey here, I’m super excited to be a guest designer for CUT to YOU this month! I’ve had heaps of fun creating these layouts to share with you all.  I hope that you love them just as much as I do.
I started this layout off knowing that I wanted to use the ‘Concentric Hearts’ Cut file, it was just perfect for the idea that I had in mind.
I started off adding a good coat of white gesso to a thick sheet of white card stock so I could add some soft colour to give a nice hint of colour to my background.  I used Distress Oxides in the colours, Tattered Rose, Picked Raspberry, Spun Sugar and Worn Lipstick.  I simply rubbed the patches of colour onto the background in random areas and then added some water and spread the colour out with a paintbrush.  I then used my heat gun to dry it all off.
I then drew my focus to the ‘Concentric Hearts’ cut file, which I cut on plain white cardstock. I used the same oxide colours as mentioned above, plus the colour Worn Lipstick to add some colour.  When doing this, I made sure that the colours were evenly spread out.  To add them I just used an ink blending tool.
After glueing the cut file down to my background I began to work on the layers for my photo, which is of my son and his Aunty picking berries. I used pieces of scrap paper, some pink tulle and a pink doily (which was mostly hidden). I just love the way the tulle and doily add some subtle softness and texture to the layout.  I then added my title, ‘Everyday Adventures’. These foam thickers are a beautiful copper/rose gold glitter and I think that they complement the pink tones well.
For my embellishments, I went to the sticker pad from the Kaisercraft ‘Magenta’ range and added some of the beautiful watercolour flowers, butterflies and phrase stickers.  I decided to stick a few of these to white cardstock and fussy cut them so that I could add some foam tape so that they add some height to the layout.  At this point, I’m still feeling like the layout is missing something, so I added an array of pink sequins and some Nuvo drops in the colours- Copper Penny, Antique Rose, Bubblegum Blush, Party Pink, Carnation Pink, Rhubarb Crumble and Raspberry Pink.  I just love how this Nuvo drops really pack a punch when used amongst sequins.
I had such a great time using the cut file for this layout, it’s just perfect for when you want to make a soft, subtle and delicate layout effortlessly.
Back later this month with another layout share.
Tracey

Hello Happy | Tamara Buckler

Hello again beautiful CTY friends,

I’m so happy to be back with you again to share a super sweet and pretty page featuring one of the awesome Cut to You Background Files. This one is called Heart Lovers Unite and it is divine!!

I cut this File from white card stock at slightly smaller than 12×12. I backed some of the hearts with various patterned papers, I did this a little strategically to create a space for my photo cluster and also for another embellishment cluster.

I stitched around the edge of the white card stock and also through the filled hearts before mounting the whole thing on foam tape. I love the separation this gives between the Cut File and the background paper.

I chose a patterned paper to back this Cut File that had a smaller pattern in the print. I love the impact that this Cocoa Vanilla Studios paper creates with the darker background, and the bright florals that helped to inform the rest of my colour scheme.

This page just worked out perfectly to document this sweet photo of my daughter and her BFF. And the best thing about this Cut File, is that I already have more ideas for other ways to use it!

Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you enjoyed my sweet little page!

Big Loves,
