SO HAPPY CHILLIN | GWEN WRUCK

Hey Creatives! I hope you are all keeping well. Gwen here today with a new share and for today’s page, I was inspired to use a design from the ‘Home Bodies’ Collection. I’m sure like everyone, my family and I have been spending A LOT more time at home and thought why not document that! These photos are not actually from this year; we are homebodies from wayyy back, but I thought it was important to document, now more than ever because it is a big part of how we live. My journalling on the back talks about how we love being at home, not the events of 2020. This sweet photo is of my daughter and our cat, living their best life on the couch.

I decided on using the ‘Our House’ cutfile for this project and some of my older Maggie Holmes stash. I just love that a fresh new cut file can bring new life to older supplies!

I started by cutting the file design out using white card stock and then backing each of the pieces with cardstock and pattern paper. I’ve then added in some stitching using my sewing machine along the main lines of the design. I love this added detail, it really makes the cut file pop!

Next up, I started thinking about my title. Looking through my supplies, I found these cute puffy word stickers that said ‘So Happy’ and then thought to add the word ‘Chillin’ which I’ve found in the “Hashtag Stay Safe” title word set. My daughter loves chilling, she’s not an ‘outdoors’ type and her version of a perfect day is one spent in her PJ’s on the couch with the cat. So this page documents that 🙂 For the title cut file, I simply backed it with coordinating pattern papers alternating as I went. A super simple but really striking effect.

Next up, I backed my photo. For this, I’ve layered up some paper scraps and added some foam tape in between for dimension, added stitching and that was done. Now it was a matter of finding the best position for the large cut file, my title and photo.

With all of the larger elements in place, I was then able to enjoy embellishing the layout. I started with the bigger pieces first such as the cute bird and the plant chipboard elements. From there I’ve added in the smaller ones. How cute is that gold heart and it sits so neatly inside of the heart of the cut file, it was meant to be!

So, I’ve just kept going, adding bits and pieces until the layout looked complete. I’ve used quite a few older elements from my stash so I’m really happy about that.

I hope you enjoyed seeing how I’ve put this page together and that it inspires you to document some of the time you have spent at home with loved ones. This design would also be really fun to document a house move or renovation or even a back to school type page if you turned it into a school. Be sure to tag @cuttoyou if you make anything using the design, I really love to see your projects.

Until next time,

Homemade Happiness | Kirei Baldwin

Hi everyone, Kirei here with my second layout for the month and this time I used two of the fab new May cut files… called ‘Homemade Happiness’ and ‘Bakers Gonna Bake’ that are available now in the CUT to YOU shop! Now I don’t bake normally and am not a fancy cook but during lockdown I have been trying out new recipes and decided I needed to bake my husband’s favourite chocolate flapjacks! Nothing fancy but a big deal for me as I just wouldn’t normally do it…. so they had to make it onto a layout and these cut files where just perfect!CutToYou_KireiBaldwin_HomemadeHappiness_layoutB_May2020v2_withfooter

I decided to use the Pinkfresh Studio ‘Noteworthy’ collection as I love the colours but better still there was a cute little bakery shop in the ephemera pack which was perfect to go with the two baking themed cut files!

For my background I picked a pretty yellow gingham patterned paper, then cut a curved strip from the top and bottom of the layout. I distressed the cut edges then backed the top and bottom with the same patterned paper that I used for the cut file title.

I cut the ‘Homemade Happiness’ cut file title twice, from one of the patterned papers and from white cardstock as I wanted to combine the two. I filled in the ‘HAPPINESS’ letters with the ones I cut from the white cardstock, this helped it stand out more against my yellow gingham check background. I stuck it down with foam pads as wanted to add some dimension.

Then I cut the ‘Bakers Gonna Bake’ oven glove also from white cardstock and backed it with a pretty floral patterned paper. I attached it straight to the background but only in the centre as I curved the edges of the oven glove for more dimension. Then I added a small wooden enamel button to make it look like the oven glove was hung on it.

To finish off I added three small photos that I backed with a coordinating patterned paper, these are stuck down flat on the bottom edge and raised on foam pads at the top edges.

I finished off with some cute ephemera, puffy stickers and enamel dots to the right of my photos, and as a cluster at the bottom of the layout… love the little bakery!

The Best Days | Tamara Buckler

Hey Guys,

I’m here today to share with you a layout featuring one of the awesome Cut Files from our Home Bodies collection.

I am really super proud of how positive we have kept the vibe over at Cut to You HQ, and I love that our Home Bodies range has really focussed on the good things that have come out of the difficult time that has been Covid 19.

I chose to scrap a photo of my daughters having a picnic in the park at the end of our street. We are very lucky to live in a small village, so my kids have been able to get around outside without too much worry. I have loved how this time together has shifted and changed their relationship, particularly as my youngest takes her first steps into tween-hood.

I have cut the Best Days Cut File from white card stock and backed it with a gorgeous coloured paper from Cocoa Vanilla Studios. I then popped it up on foam, and adhered it to my patterned paper layer, overlapping the bottom of my photo slightly.

I really love how bright and fun this layout turned out, and I really hope that down the track it reminds my girls that they did have some fun during the Covid lock down!

Hope you are all safe and well!

Big loves, Tam xo

HomeBodies Unite/Sara Scraps

Hello Everyone! Sara here with you today! I’m featuring one of the Home Bodies Collection cut files.

My layout was inspired by CSI Challenge Case File #318. Cut to You is one of the challenge blog’s sponsors and we have been having fun playing along with their inspiration pieces over the last few months.

Here is the case file that inspired my layout today-

With all those orange tones, I knew I wanted to use a nice, muted color palette but I also wanted to make my cut file POP! To accomplish that I added some mixed media behind the cut file. The mixed media allows the backed cut file to really be visible and set it off.

I paired my cut file with a photo of my youngest son cuddling his dog on the couch..perfect homebodies uniting for sure!

I love the fun clusters of embellishments I used to define the line between the mixed media and the photo. It gives the whole layout balence and allows the photo to stand against the orange mixed media. Overall, I think that this layout came together so well and I love the cozy feel I was able to create!

If you haven’t seen these fun cut files yet, be sure to take a peek at them in the Cut To You shop HERE!

I also have a process video to share – in case you want to add a bit of mixed media to the background of your next cut file!

Have A Lovely Day!

Sara

#Staysafe At Home | Melinda Sweetman

Hey, hey CUT to YOU friends and family! Melinda here with you today sharing my latest creation using one of the fun new cut files from the “Home Bodies” collection.

As you can see, I’ve actually used 2 cut files on this page! The first is my title from the “Hashtag Stay Safe” cut file title set.

And the other cut file I used is one of my faves, the “Rainbow Love” cut file.

I had my Cameo do most of the “work” for me to back the files. This is actually pretty simple to do, especially with these less intricate shapes. Once you have the file open and traced in your Silhouette software, right click on the cut and select “Release Compound Path.” From there I removed the outer lines and worked with the inside pieces. Next select all of the shapes/letters and click on the “offset” button. This will create another line around the outside of all of the letters/shapes you have selected which you can re-size. I think I set mine to about 0.8″. Delete the original pieces you were working with and voila, you have all of your shapes ready to go to back your cut file!

I’ve dived into my Cocoa Vanilla Studio “Happiness” collection for this page. With the 2 cut files and 3 photos taking up so much real estate on the page embellishing was pretty minimal.

I added to my title using some small grey tile alphas to spell out “at home” since the photos I was using were of our front window painting. I hope people smile as they go past our home!

Working in a triangle around the important parts of my page I added a small cluster of embellishments right over the “empty space” in the middle and right hand photos. Oh, and I have also had my Cameo fussy cut a whole page of tiny butterflies from the 6×8 paper pad which I have used a couple of on this page.

Knowing I needed somewhere to add some journalling, and to complete my triangle, I have added one of the big floral pieces from the ephemera pack and a round journalling sticker to the top right of the page under the rainbow.

My final touches were some enamel shapes that I have dotted around all of my embellishment clusters and my title. I may have gone a little “sprinkle crazy” but I really love the finished page!!

I do have a process video for you to enjoy so just hit that play button, sit back and enjoy!

If you haven’t yet had the chance to check out the full “Home Bodies” collection you so should! Gwen has really smashed it outta the park, keeping it real but yet also positive. Because, in times like these, it’s often laugh or cry and I know if I can choose the happier side it makes my heart happy! Of course, there is still ALL of the other beautiful and fun designs in store, did you see the earlier April release!?

I hope you have enjoyed my share today and that however you are spending right now you are staying safe and looking after yourself!!
Until next time, happy scrapping!

Home Bodies collection | Piroska Czakó-Radványi

Hi there, it’s Piroska here today with my latest share. I hope you are all doing well, and have time, energy and inspiration to create something. In these days scrapbooking has become my shelter, a place where I can forget about everything, even more than before. Besides the 12″x12″ layouts I like to document the everydays in a Traveller’s Notebook, and now in a Heidi Swapp Storyline Chapters insert. The insert is 7.5″x9″, so it is perfect for using cut files in it.

And the new Home Bodies collection makes it easy to fill the pages in no time. The cut files help in designing the pages, and they just look great.

I used the Hashtag Stay Safe and the Our Street cut files as usual: cut them from smooth white cardstock and backed them with patterned paper.

I cut the Isolation Staycation cut file from patterned paper, and as I loved the left overs on my cutting mat, I decided to use them as a background on the other side of the spread.

I didn’t want to throw away the white letters that were left either, so I used my watercolours to give them some colour.

I hope I could inspire you to use the cut files also in a smaller format. Get the new cut files at the shop, and have some quiet minutes, hours just for yourself and your hobby!

HOME | Michelle Stokes

Hi Friends its Michelle S here today with a new layout share for you all. I chose to document a funny family photo for this creation to features one of the ‘Special Edition’ designs released as part of the NEW Home Bodies release. Its an interesting time world-wide right now, and were taking each day as it comes in our little house.

The Home Grid cut file is perfect for filling up an entire 12×12 layout, and those cut little houses! I had a hard time working out which pattern paper I wanted to back them all with.

I resized the design in silhouette studio to approx 11.5 inch square and cut it out on white cardstock. I then chose a couple of different pattern papers from the Bloom Street collection to back the different elements. Dark floral for the letters, ombre hearts on pink for the ‘O’ heart, multi colour hearts for the house’s, diagonal stripe paper for the house roof and the blue tartan style design for the chimney.

I’ve added some vellum to each area of the grid that had an element to fill in with pattern paper, then adhered the cut file piece to another piece of cardstock using foam tape for a slight hint of dimension. This entire piece was then adhered to a 12×12 piece of the dark / bright florals from the same collection.

I kept the layers behind our fun family photo to a minimum as there was already so much colour going on in the background. I chose elements that co-ordinated with the dark floral paper

Along the top right of the cut file Ive added a cluster of elements that sit slightly over one of the little houses

Diagonally across the page along the bottom edge I’ve added similar elements to the top cluster to tie it all together.

Well friends thats all from me today. I hope this post has found you safe and well. Be sure to check out the other cut file designs that are part of this collection. You can find them HERE. Also don’t forget to share all things CUT to YOU within the CTY HQ group on Facebook

Thanks again for stopping by!

Until next time, Happy Scrapping
