Pool Cocktails | Kirei Baldwin

Hi CUT to YOU fans! We have a celebration this month as it’s CUT to YOU’s 3rd birthday! Woo hoo! Happy Birthday! To celebrate each of the Design Team are scraplifting one of Gwen’s past layouts…. I chose one she did back in March 2020 which you can find here, and I followed the design of the layout by using a large cutfile to the left of the photo.

I chose the fun Tropical Punch cut file which can be found here in the shop as it was perfect to go with my photo of a past holiday back in 2019 to St. Lucia in the Caribbean.

I decided to back the cut file using different patterned papers from the lovely Cocoa Vanilla Studio ‘Sunkissed’ collection. The different pieces were all raised on foam pads to add dimension.

Once I placed the cut file on my white cardstock background I realised it needed something more behind it to ground it and help it stand out more. So I added a smooshy teal background using the packaging technique and some lovely shimmery watercolour paints from my stash. Then I finished off with lots of splatters… and once dry, I stitched it using gold thread to a frame of yellow cardstock.

I tucked my photo, which was mounted on one of the patterned papers from the collection in just behind the bottom right flower on the cut file.

I picked out some of the fun coordinating ephemera, clear stickers and gold hearts from and created two embellishment clusters to the bottom left of the cut file and bottom right of my photo. Because I wanted some of the clear stickers to be stuck over some of my photo and the cut file I stuck them onto white cardstock first and then fussy cut around them. This helps them stand out more an allows you to layer them.

Then I finished off with a title using two different Thickers alphas from my stash and of course added some journaling below my photo.

Spring Flowers | Kirei Baldwin

Hi CUT to YOU fans! I have a fun layout today featuring a cut file that I have used before though I cut it much larger last time! It’s called Spring Tulip and can be found here in the shop.

I wanted to use quite a few smaller photos of a walk we did in our local park in March. It was lovely seeing the spring flowers all coming out but was slightly odd when I spotted all the knitted ducks hanging off the trees! On closer inspection they had been put there for children to find as part of a Duck Hunt! The Simple Stories ‘Bunnies and Blooms’ collection was perfect for this layout, I used the pretty ditsy floral paper as a frame that I stitched my main white cardstock background to using yellow thread.

As I was using six small photos I cut the Spring Tulip cut file quite small. I went traditional and backed the three Spring Tulip cut files with a mix of the patterned papers from the collection, all mounted on foam pads to add dimension.

These were then added to the centre of my layout in a vertical design. I then tucked my small photos, that had all been mounted on patterned paper and edges distressed, in and around each of them.

I then fussy cut the bunny, duck and basket of flowers from one of the patterned papers and added them to the layout, along with a mix of embellishments including puffy stickers, enamel dots and word stickers. The cute bunny Perspextives from Bramble Fox just had to be included on this very Spring layout!

To finish off I added a title using a mini alpha from Thickers and my journaling.

Snow Much Fun | Kirei Baldwin

Hi CUT to YOU fans! I’m back with a wintery layout featuring one of the fab title cut files from the shop. This one called ‘Snow Much Fun’ was perfect for my photos from the one day of decent snow that we had in January! I cut it reasonably large but not too big so that it allowed me to add a photo on either side.

I backed the letters using one of the pretty papers from the Maggie Holmes ‘Garden Party’ collection which is definitely not a winter collection but by choosing the right papers worked perfectly! I used sticky foam pads to attach the backing so that I created some additional dimension.

For my background I used a pretty pink grid patterned paper and added some gold stitching as a border. Then I added some white paint splatters under where I knew the cut file to sit as it created a snowy like finish. I added some gold stitching to the snowflake before backing it with some vellum and then one of the papers to create more of a translucent look to it.

Once the cut file was stuck down I then added my photos on either side. They were both mounted on coordinating patterned paper with lightly distressed edges and then layered with some matching tags.

Then I created an embellishment cluster around each photo using vellum ephemera, gold and pink hearts, clear glass drops and some pink bow stickers. I punched out some small snowflakes using an old Martha Stewart punch and added a large glass drop to the centre of each one.

To finish off I added a fun icicle Perspextive from Bramble Fox between the words ‘MUCH’ and ‘FUN’.

Happy Easter | Bunny Silhouette | Tarrah McLean

Hi crafty friends and Happy Easter!

It’s Tarrah back with you today to share a new Easter themed layout for CUT to YOU featuring the Silhouette Bunny cut file. As soon as I saw this cut file, I knew exactly what I was going to do and had the layout already worked out in my head!! Do you ever do this?!

Bunny Silhouette cut file

I enlarged the bunny design in the Silhouette software and then cut it out from white cardstock. I chose a cute pastel spotty paper to back the bunny with. Once it was backed, I added craft foam underneath and adhered it to my background paper. I layered a paper underneath the super cute photo of my son as a bunny and adhered this to the right of the bunny cut file, tucking it in so the bunny overlapped the photo.

I adhered a circle chipboard piece here also that says, ‘Bursting With Excitement’ because he really was! I fussy cut out some scallops from a pastel paper similar to the spotty one and adhered them under my photo, bending up the edges to give the layout some dimension. I wanted to ad some flairs to this layout too and grabbed out 2 from my stash, I adhered the cute bunny one to the centre of the bow in the cut file design and the Hop Hop Hop one above the photo. On the bunny cut file, I also adhered a Charm’s Creations spotted handmade heart and also typed out some journalling and cut it into strips.

My title I placed at the bottom underneath the scallops, I used a puffy alphabet and spelt out Happy Easter. Some of the final embellishments I added were some puffy shape stickers, some enamel dots, a few die-cuts and another chipboard piece. The Silhouette Bunny cut file was the perfect design for my page to go with the cute photo of my son.

You & Me | Floral Ampersand cut file | Tarrah McLean

Hi CUT to YOU friends!

It’s Tarrah back with you today to share a new layout with you for our floral theme for this week! I chose the stunning Floral Ampersand design to create this layout. I cut the design out from white cardstock and backed the pieces behind in different patterned papers from the Truly Grateful collection by Paige Evans.

Floral Ampersand cut file

This cut file is so versatile for all kinds of projects. It would also look great cut out small and not backed!

I was strategic when I backed the cut file, making sure that the large flower and the leaves could stand out. I did this by using a bright pink for the flowers and a dark green on the leaves. Once the cut file was all backed, I added craft foam underneath and adhered the cut file to the centre of another piece of white cardstock. I love the shadows and dimension this adds to my page.

I placed my photo over on the right side of the Floral Ampersand cut file design and tucked a tag behind the photo. I also overlapped a die-cut ampersand piece onto the photo on the left. This was the perfect piece to add as it was so florally and fit next to my photo perfectly.

By adding craft foam underneath the cut file design and popping it up off the page I was able to tuck lots of die-cut flowers to further enhance the floral design and theme of my page. I didn’t add too much else to the top of the cut file design as it was quite busy already, I decided to place the foam alphabet either side of the design so that it could be included in the title. Lastly I added some more die-cut pieces and phrase stickers and also added some journaling following the shape of the bottom half of the Ampersand shape.

Just One More Chapter | Book Lover cut file | Tarrah McLean

Hi crafty friends!

It’s Tarrah back with you and today I am here to share a sweet layout featuring the gorgeous Book Lover cut file. The Book Lover cut file set has lots of elements making it excellent value for money! For this layout, I chose to use only the Just One More Chapter title.

Book Lover cut file

I cut the title from white cardstock and then backed it with a pretty pink paper. I knew I was going to use the yellow patterned paper as a background so I needed a contrasting colour to make the title stand out from the background. Once the cut file was all backed, I added craft foam underneath the cut file and adhered it to the yellow background. You can see in the close up photo below the dimension and shadows this creates.

As the title cut file design is heavy on the right side, the left side was the perfect place to add the sweet photo of my sister and her daughters reading a book together. It also worked well that my photo was in landscape orientation, it fit perfectly next to the title. I did overlap part of the title onto the photo so that everything flowed altogether.

On the right hand side of the cut file, I placed some chipboard pieces that are books and also the die-cut piece reading, ‘Books and More Books’. I couldn’t add too much to this side as the design of my page travels right across the page from left to right. Small embellishments are perfect to help tell the story and enhance the design. I also added a few things on top and below the cut file to add some more subtle detail and interest.

I love how my layout turned out and hope you enjoyed it too?! Make sure to check out the CUT to YOU online store for amazing cut file designs for all your projects! Thanks for stopping by today!

Shine Bright | Tarrah McLean

Hi crafty friends! Its Tarrah back with you today to share a new layout created for an awesome collaboration between CUT to YOU and Spiegel Mom Scraps!

Spiegel Mom Scraps has recently come out with some gorgeous foil called Fab Foils! It is so easy to use and it adds a gorgeous shiny, shimmery effect to cut files, die-cuts, you can even emboss it. No need for any extra machine with this foil!

First thing to do was to adhere the foil to the cardstock, you have to do this process a little slowly to make sure there are no bubbles in the foil. I then loaded the cardstock and foil into my Cameo. I decided to cut out 3 different sized diamonds from the Too Glam cut file design. The Cameo cut through both perfectly.

Too Glam cut file

I chose the diamond shape cut file design because I thought by adding the foil it would give it that extra bit of shine, I love how the diamonds turned out! I backed the largest and smallest with a soft pink paper and the medium sized one with a black and white stripe paper. Once the diamond shapes were backed, I added craft foam underneath each one and adhered them to my background paper starting from the largest to the smallest.

In the close up image below you can really see the shine from the silver foil. Its so pretty and just enhances the design so much more. I chose to title my page, ‘Shine Bright’, I used some older Thickers from my stash and placed it under my photo. The photo for this layout is of my 2 gorgeous nieces, I just adore these girls to pieces. I miss them terribly as they live in England but we video call as much as we can.

I love to layer embellishments right on top of cut files, I have added some chipboard words, resin stars, stickers and a Charms Creations X and O. I also added a mini black and white fabric bow.

I hope you enjoyed my layout today?! Don’t forget to check out the awesome Fab Foils over at Spiegel Mom Scraps and stop by the CUT to YOU store for gorgeous cut files for all projects.

Super Star | Tarrah McLean

Hi everyone!

It’s Tarrah back with you today to share a new boy themed layout featuring the awesome Rock Star cut file! The Rock Star cut file is a very versatile cut file! You will want this one for boy layouts, Christmas layouts, travel layouts, birthday layouts and so much more!

Rock Star cut file

I cut out the Rock Star design from white textured cardstock and then backed all the open star spaces with different patterned papers. I used the Teen Spirit collection by Echo Park paper. I decided on a red paper for the large main star in the centre to help my photo and title pop.

For the star to the left of the photo, near the title, I added a Charm’s Creations fabric star, it fit perfectly right in that spot! I layered a cute pixelated heart sticker on top of the star. I added craft foam underneath the cut file and adhered it to another piece of white textured cardstock, I love the shadows and dimension this creates. I then trimmed down the cardstock and matted the whole layout with one of the 12′ x 12′ papers in the Teen Spirit collection.

I layered one of the papers from the 6′ x 6′ paper pad under my photo and adhered the photo towards the right of the main star, I also added my wood veneer title here to the left of the photo. I also added a boy themed flair to the right of the photo.

Some of the embellishments I added were some die-cuts above the photo and above the title. I also added some wood veneer stars and a sticker under the wood veneer title.

Everyday Happiness | Tarrah McLean

Hi everyone!

It’s Tarrah back with you today to share a new design team layout featuring the gorgeous new Heart of Flowers cut file! As soon as I saw this beautiful design, I knew I wanted to use it right away!

Heart of Flowers cut file

I cut the design out from white cardstock and then backed all the pieces with various papers in the Pinkfresh Studio ‘Just a Little Lovely’ 6′ x 6′ paper pad. I will admit this did take some time but I think its worth it in the end!

Once the pieces were all backed, I added craft foam underneath and adhered it down on my chosen background paper using a liquid adhesive. It took a little bit of jiggling and shifting to get the heart shape to look right, that is the beauty of using a liquid adhesive on cut files, you have a little bit of time for repositioning if needed before the glue dries.

I chose a photo of my eldest niece for this page, I adhered the photo over to the right slightly and popped it up with craft foam too. I added a die-cut and a layered sticker to the left of the photo and also added some gold glitter enamel dots to the centres of each flower. On the right of my photo, I added a Charm’s Creations handmade heart in a cream colour with a sticker placed on top. I also added a banner die-cut above the photo.

Thank you so much for stopping by the CUT to YOU blog today. I hope you enjoyed my layout and that you were inspired in some way? Make sure to check out the CUT to YOU store for this gorgeous new cut file as well as hundreds of other cut files designed to suit any project!

BOO BOO BOO| Tarrah McLean

Hi CUT to YOU friends!

It’s Tarrah back with you today to share a spooky layout featuring the awesome Halloween 1 cut file. I don’t know what it is about Halloween but I just love documenting it!

Halloween 1 cut file

The cut file was cut using black cardstock and although I cut out the entire design, I decided to leave off the half spider web part, I have put it aside to use on another project. I felt like it would have been squashed on the page and may have looked out of place, I am happy I left it off.

I just recently purchased the Hey Pumpkin collection from Crate Paper so I just had to use it for this layout of my lil pumpkin, Amelia, my gorgeous niece! How super cute is that photo?! The Boo title connected to the spider web was perfect too as Amelia looks like she is jumping out of the pumpkin and saying Boo! So I backed the ‘BOO’ title section with one of the papers in the collection and then added craft foam underneath, I love the dimension this brings to the page, I even added tiny strips of craft foam under the spider web to help it sit up too!

Above the spider web was the ideal spot to place my photo, I layered a tag underneath the photo and added some embellishments here. On the spider web, I added the white chipboard spider web and some wood veneer stars. On the title section, I layered more chipboard pieces, cut outs and puffy stickers. The pieces I chose help tell the story, I love the piece that says, ‘You’re the Pumpkin to my Spice’!

The Halloween 1 cut file would look great cut out in white, orange and purple too! I would love to see how others use it. Make sure to share any of your projects in the CUT to YOU Community Facebook group!

Thanks so much for stopping by today, I hope you enjoyed my layout. Happy creating!
