Love, You are my SUNSHINE | Michelle Stokes

Hello friends its Michelle S back here today with a new layout to share with you all. I chose an older file to create with from the CUT to YOU store, a background design that I could use as the base to my layout – Heart Burst. This paired with the stunning new collection from Paige Taylor Evans = a match made in heaven

The pattern paper was quite thin so I cut the design out on white cardstock and joined them both together to create a little extra thickness.

I adhered the entire design to the backing cardstock using glue dots and tiny staples before creating one massive photo and florals cluster

I layered complimentary patterns and colours to the photo stack and adhered these over the top of the cut file using foam tape for a little added dimension

To the right of the photo I added multiple ephemera pieces and florals to create a title and stretch the large cluster across the page

At the top of the layout I added a couple of elements to bring it all together then splattered the entire layout with some gold colour shine to finish it off.

Well thats all from me today, thank you so much for stopping by. Be sure to check out the CUT to YOU store to find all the NEW and FUN cutfile designs, and don’t forget to share your creations with us in the CUT to YOU Facebook group.

Until next time, Happy Scrapping

Have I told You | Michelle Stokes

Hello Hello! It’s Michelle S back here today with my first share for March. We’ve just had a NEW release of cutfiles in store this month but I thought Id share the love with something older from the shop for today. I chose the super fun Squiggles Background Cut File which was such a good background to use to create this fun layout of Leila.

I kept the file quite large, ensuring that it would fill most of the background up. I cut it out on pattern paper from the Lucky Us collection using my silhouette and adhered to the background cardstock using raised glue dots under each messy cluster. As simple as that. No altering the file or chopping it up like I’ve done in previous shares. Keeping it simple today.

I chose a couple of fun photos of Leila from the night before her last birthday. She was ‘posing’ for her annual ‘last day of’ photo and making some hilarious faces, most of which were too blurry to use on a layout.

I used the same pattern paper from the cut file to use as the backing border of the entire layout to bring it all together and used complimentary patterns to back the photos along the middle of the layout

To the left and right of the photos I added clusters of ephemera pieces and stickers. Over on the right I also added a mini title on top of the cluster.

Theres a couple extra bits n bobs tucked in here and there and a sprinkling of enamel dots, my favourite embellishment to add to a layout

I really like the crazy messy look this file gives the layout without having to actually get messy. You can find it in the store HERE

Lastly I added a strip of washi tape and some stickers under the title cluster then a splattering of gold colour shine to complete the layout

Well that’s all from me for today, thank you so much for stopping by. Be sure to check out all the NEW cut files released in store this month, theres plenty to choose from!

Bee My Valentine | Michelle Stokes

Hello Friends it’s Michelle S back today with a new layout share. We had a challenge within our CUT to YOU HQ group on facebook recently – for Group members to choose a certain file that YOU wanted to see shared by our DT on upcoming layouts. One particular file that was mentioned, and I felt was perfect to document during the month of Love was BEE MY VALENTINE.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE how this layout came together using the BEE MY VALENTINE file along with the FLORAL WREATH cut file that I layered underneath. I used the Lucky Us Collection from Pink Paislee to continue to the lovey dove theme I had happening, and a sweet photo of my little family from many moons ago.

To begin the creating process I enlarged both designs in silhouette studio, traced, edited and cut both designs out on plain white cardstock.

Prior to cutting the Bee and title on cardstock I separated the Bee from the letter M so that I could have 2 complete pieces – Bee and Title. I did this by copying the file twice and using the eraser tool (outline selected) to cut the Bee away from the M on one, and the M away from the Bee on the other. This ensured that both the M and the Bee cut out in whole pieces and could be used on different areas of the page.

I backed the bee with papers from the 6×8 pad in the collection I used along with some velum for the wings. I also added a cut apart strip, hearts and stickers to finish the cluster

For the title piece of the cut file I used a text pattern paper for the words and 2 darker pink patterns for the hearts. I also recut the hearts squiggle on more cardstock to give a little extra dimension to the sweet hearts in the middle of the title.

I created a photo stack on a slight angle to the left of the hearts squiggle and added a couple of other heart elements to fill the gaps

I also cut a majority of the leaves off the FLORAL WREATH as they weren’t sitting quite right under the title, but I felt the layout needed a circular element to bring it all together. I left the wreath flat on the backing paper and raised the Bee Cutfile and title up off the layout using thin foam tape for that slight lift and dimension.

Well friends thats all from me today. Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you have enjoyed seeing my creation made with a file chosen by YOU. Hopefully it’s inspired you to let loose with cut files and to chop them up to work with your creative ideas.

Don’t forget to keep an eye out in the CUT to YOU HQ on facebook for future DT Challenges. Its also a place where you can regularly drop in to chat, offer advice and share all things CTY.

You are my Everything | Michelle Stokes

Hello Hello! It’s Michelle here today with a new layout share featuring one of our fun NEW cut files released this month. As February is know for being the month of LOVE I went with a little lovey dove rainbow theme documenting my 2 loves.

We have a super sweet collection of new cut files this month, and my favourite of all is the Rainbow Love one. Perfect for documenting these 2 in their little love bubble.

I enlarged the design in silhouette studio to fill a good portion of the background paper and cut it out on white cardstock. I used multiple different pattern papers from the Dear Lizzy ‘She’s Magic’ collection to back the individual layers of the rainbow – in rainbow order of course.

Once all pieces were backed I adhered them slightly above the centre of the layout. I had planned on adding some journalling to the layout, but felt it didn’t need any once I had completed all the other elements.

I added the photo to the frame and adhered over the right of the cut file, a TONNE of foam tape was used on this layout to create different heights of dimension between all the pieces

Over on the top left I added a little cluster of elements to fill the blank space and to balance it all out. I also adhered the entire layout to a cut apart paper to give an extra pop of colours around the edge.

Well thats all from me today. But before I go, did you happen to catch our most recent Newsletter? Heres a sneak peek if you missed it.. Be sure to SIGN UP for regular updates – 2 newsletters per month = 2 FREE cut files. Who doesn’t LOVE a freebie??

Make a Wish | Michelle Stokes

Hello Hello, It’s Michelle back here today. I’ve gone on a little walk down memory lane for my layout share this week using a photo from a couple years back, an older cut file from the vault and a collection that was released many many moons ago.

I’ve used the Pinwheel file to compliment a couple of photos I took of Leila a few years back. This can be found in the CELEBRATIONS & FUN section of the shop. I also chose the sweet Life is Beautiful collection for its whimsical feel.

I cut the design out on white cardstock in 3 different pieces. To do this I traced the original design in silhouette studio then released the compound path so that the 2 individual pinwheels were no longer grouped to each other. In order to still keep each pinwheel a whole piece I needed to regroup the pieces back together so that I could still move them as a whole, but also keep tham as 2 separate pieces. Next I copy & pasted the larger of the 2 pinwheels and resized it slightly larger than its original size, thus creating 3 separate pinwheels ready to cut out.

Once the designs were cut I chose the pattern papers and backed the 2 smaller pinwheels, leaving the 3rd plain Jane. I didn’t glue the rounded edges completely to the pattern paper as I wanted the lifted edges to give a slight dimensional look rather than flat.

I used the extra pinwheel to fill the white space at either side of the layout as I felt this gave it a soft subtle texture to the once before blank areas. I simply cut the pinwheel in half and glued it down to either edge, and raised certain areas with glue dots

I added frames around the photos and adhered these over the edge of the larger backed pinwheel and created a floral cluster of different elements from the collections ephemera pack.

I balanced out all the colour in the middle of the layout by adding a cluster of similar elements to the top right of the layout

and also continued the large cluster of elements into the bottom left corner

Lastly I added some white alpha stickers to the top and right of the photos to create a title

I sewed through the letters to ensure they stay adhered to the page for years to come, but also because I like adding a little extra texture to a layout here and there.

Well thats all from me today, thanks so much for stopping by the CUT to YOU blog today. Be sure to check out whats new in store if you haven’t already, theres a new release of cut files not too far away also!

Until Next time, Happy Scrapping

Grade 2 | Michelle Stokes

Hello Everyone, Michelle back here today with my first layout share of the year. Cannot believe were already almost 3 weeks into this new year. Time flies way too quick thats for sure! Todays layout features one of our newest cut files for the month – Grade School – and I’ve combined that with the awesome You Rock collection from Cocoa Vanilla Studio. Both the cut file and collection are perfect for documenting some first and last day of school photos of Leila in 2019.

I only cut 2/3rds of the actual cut file out on white cardstock. I did this in a couple of steps that work best for me that I will run through below, others may have a different way of going about this.

To begin I opened the file within silhouette studio, resized to fit the grid then traced the entire image. Thinking back now I could have made it a whole lot quicker and less steps if I had just traced over the part of the image that I wanted to cut out. Silly me HAHA

Next I slowly erased the areas that I didn’t want to cut out using the eraser tool, set to ‘outline’ in square form and the biggest size it will go. This meant that parts of the bottom of the file weren’t joined together and I needed to hand cut them off the cardstock after cutting out on the silhouette. I don’t mind doing this as it was pretty straight forward.

Once the file was cut and ready to go I backed each letter of the word GRADE using different pattern papers that complimented both the background paper and photos of Leilas first and last days of school in 2019.

I backed the number 2 with some red stars to signify the grade of school for the year, then backed all the numbers with vellum. The entire cut file piece is raised off the background paper using foam tape for slight dimension.

I added extra stars to the layout and a few extra embellishments but not too many as I wanted the photos and cut file to be the hero of the layout.

I really like how this layout came together, and cant wait to continue the tradition of first and last day photos in the years to come.

Thanks so much for stopping by today, be sure to check out whats NEW in store and even sign up for our newsletter – theres a FREEBIE included every issue.

Until next time, happy scrapping

December Magic | Michelle Stokes

Hi crafty friends its Michelle here to share my final layout for the year. I went with a festive feel for this layout and scrapped a recent photo of our resident Elf on the Shelf. The one that gets up to all kinds of mischief this time of year.

This sweet photo documents our Elf’s arrival on Leila’s birthday. Every year she shows up with a basket full of Christmas goodies for Leila to enjoy as an early present from Santa.

The December cut file I chose to use was recently part of our 12 days of Christmas cut files and was perfect for creating one massive title on the layout.

I cut the design slightly larger than the photo and paper stack, and backed it using a pretty festive pattern paper from the Pebbles Merry Little Christmas collection.

I added the cut file pice to the right of the photo using some foam tape to lift it off the background

I tucked a couple of tags into the layers of the photo to create a cluster of embellishments along with the floral stickers

Along the bottom of the cut file I added the word MAGIC using some puffy stickers to finish off the title.

Well thats all from me today. Short and sweet to end the year just nicely.
Thanks so much for stopping by today and for all your continued support this year. I’ve really enjoyed being part of this team and hope to continue to provide monthly inspiration in the near future.

Until next time, happy scrapping!

12 Days of Christmas Giveaway – Snowflake Day 4

Hello and welcome to DAY 4 of our 12 days of Christmas GIVEAWAY!

It’s Michelle here today to share with you a page I’ve created using the Snowflake Cut File, which is available for free download today (04/12/19) and then for purchase from our Christmas collection after that.

I’ve used the Winter wonderland collection by Heidi Swapp to create this layout as I just love the colours and felt they worked well with the design of layout I was wanting to create. I resized the snowflake design within silhouette studio to 4 different sizes. 1 large piece to layer behind the photo stack and 3 individual snowflakes to ‘hang’ from the top left corner of the layout – to replicate the snowflakes our Elf created last year.

To begin the layout I cut the white cardstock down slightly and adhered to the red pattern paper then got to work creating the large photo stack. I used the larger snowflake as the base and layered a couple of pattern papers under the photos with some ephemera popping out here and there. I added some ribbon to the top of the tag and my title to the top of the photo using puffy letters and an ephemera word.

Next I adhered the smaller snowflakes to the top corner using glue dots, then added twine to each to make them look like they were hanging from the top of the layout. I added a few plain and snowflake sequins within this cluster along with a few ephemera pieces and a splattering of gold colour shine to finish it off

Oh What Fun | Michelle Stokes

Hello Crafty friends! It’s Michelle back here today with my 2nd share for November and boy am I excited about this one! I got myself into the Christmas spirit well and truly with this cut file and I absolutely LOVE how it all came together.

I’ve used the Christmas Tree Row from last months release after being inspired by a layout made by our one and only Boss Lady, Gwen. I increased the size of the design in Silhouette Studio and cut it out on white cardstock before cutting the design in half to layer under the photo I chose.

Our cheeky house Elf gave us a not so subtle hint to decorate the tree last year and Leila thought it was hilarious! I chose the collection I’ve used based solely on the colours from the photo, which are all very bright and christmasy.

I’ve used 6×6 papers from the Merry Little Christmas collection by Pebbles to back all the trees. I adhered the tree cluster to the left of the photo using foam tape, then did the same with the trees on the right. The photo is popped up slightly higher using a piece of foam sheet. I didn’t layer any more pattern papers under the photo as I felt it looked best without

I added gold and silver glitter paper to the stars on top of the trees, adhered with tiny staples, then layered a second star on top of the first to give them a little extra dimension

I kept the embellishing very simple with just a couple of ephemera pieces and a gold puffy letter title. The red HOHOHO strip was from the bottom of the candy stripe paper that I used to matt the white cardstock within the wash tapes layered bottom right of the photo are from the same collection.

Well thats all from me today. Short and sweet, but so much fun!

Thanks so much for stopping by. Be sure to pop into the CUT to YOU HQ to share the love of all things CTY and don’t forget to tag us on instagram when you’ve created with our files.

Until next time, happy scrapping

OH SO Pretty | Michelle Stokes

Hello Hello, its Michelle back again today with a new layout to share with you all. I’ve used an older cut file designed for use in Travellers Notebooks for this creation, but as you can see its perfect for layering into a 12×12 page.

I cut the INTERSECTING HEARTS design in silhouette studio on a bright pattern paper from the Paige Evans Whimsical collection. It’s approximately 11 inches long from top to bottom. I used the same pattern paper for the base of the layout, under the white cardstock background, to make the cut file and photo stack really pop. I adhered the file to the cardstock using my tiny attacher.

Next I gathered a few other pattern papers from the same collection to layer behind the photo, I’ve even tucked in a few ephemera pieces

The photo I chose to document is one of Leila and her favourite bear from a couple years back, they were pretending to be Kind and Queen. So cute!

I kept the embellishing pretty simple with a few more ephemera pieces and a small title, plus a splattering of gold ink and some hand written journalling.

Well thats all from me today, thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing a short but sweet layout share using an older TN file for something other than TN scrapping.

I’ll be back again soon with another share, but until then be sure to stop by the CUT to YOU group on facebook to share all the things you love about CTY. The CTY shop has also just had a restock recently so don’t for get to check that out too!

Happy Scrapping
