Loved | Tarrah McLean

Hi everyone! It’s Tarrah McLean and I am beyond excited to be here sharing my very first layout as part of the amazing CUT To YOU design team! I absolutely LOVE Gwen’s cut files (well who doesn’t right?) and can’t wait to create more projects using them! I hope you enjoy my projects that I will be sharing twice a month right here on the CUT To YOU blog!

My first layout share is this soft and pretty layout below featuring the gorgeous new Frame Trio cut file

Frame Trio cut file

To begin, I sized the Frame Trio cut file in the Silhouette software to suit my layout and cut it out from white textured cardstock, I then chose some soft, pretty patterned papers to back the florals in the cut file design. Where there were leaves, I tried to add green but the florals were a mix of colour which I love!

On the ‘Loved’ title part of the cut file design, I decided to leave it plain on my layout however you could easily ink, paint or watercolour this to suit your page. For the 3 frame spaces in the design, I decided to add the photo of my gorgeous nieces in the centre one and then I backed the other two with some patterned paper and also added some pretty quotes over the top.

2020-05-21 16.02.06

Once the cut file was all backed, I added craft foam underneath it all so that it would sit up off my chosen background paper and create some shadows and dimension. You can see in the detail photo above the shadows created underneath the ‘Loved’ title part of the cut file. To achieve this, I cut the craft foam down very small in order to adhere it without seeing any foam adhesive.

2020-05-21 16.02.21

I added some beautiful embellishments including some die-cuts, enamel dots, epoxy stickers and 3D stickers to finish my page and enhance the cut file design even more. I also like to include the date stamp on my layouts so that people who may look back in the future will know when the photo on the layout was taken.

Thank you so much for stopping by the CUT to YOU blog today! I hope you enjoyed reading how I put my page together. Make sure to check out the CUT to YOU store for all the amazing cut file designs available!

Hello Blue Skies | Marie Hirst

Hey there CUT to YOU friends! It’s Marie here with my latest share!

I wanted to try something a bit different this time so chose the Triangle Pinwheel Background Cutfile.

I started by cutting it from white cardstock around 10 inches across but then decided not to back it (which is something quite different for me!) I wanted to use the file as a background feature to add some subtle texture so I just glued it down as it was!

I decided to pair the cutfile with some papers from Pinkfresh Studio’s Super Cool range as the green was a perfect match to my son’s jumper! I used the grey striped paper as my background paper and then fussy cut some of the polaroid frames to create a banner across the page.

I added adhesive foam behind the polaroid frames and photo and added some Cardstock stickers to embellish, tucking them in in different places.

I used an acrylic title in a light blue to match the layout and then added a few black splatters to break up the white space.

I love how this turned out and I loved using the cut file to add subtle detail.

There are lots more cut files like this in the shop, so be sure to check them out here.

Until next time, stay safe scrappy friends,

Marie x

Oh Snap | Tamara Buckler

Hello scrappy friends,

I’m popping in quickly today to share with you my layout inspired by this month’s CSI Challenge. I have used the Oh Snap Title Cut File, which I have treated quite simply, but I think it’s turned out super sweet.

The CSI Case File Challenge (no. 318) was filled with little icons, lots of orange and a cute little fox. I paired this back a little and used more peachy tones, inspired by the sweetest Die Cut fox from my stash.

I cut the ‘Oh Snap’ file from white card stock and then coloured it with a Posca pen. I then backed both elements with white paper and popped them up on foam squares. Such an easy title option, and ready to go in just a few minutes!

To keep with the feel of the inspiration, image, I tucked lots of cute little elements around my title and my photo.

Thanks for stopping by today. Make sure you pop over to the CSI blog and have a go at their challenges. And if you looking for easy title options, jump over to the shop and have a look in the titles section.

Stay safe and well!

Big loves, Tam xo

Wowza! Miniversum | Piroska Czako-Radvanyi

Miniversum is a great, detailed model layout featuring Hungary’s beautiful sights and places in an interactive exhibition. Unfortunately it closes at the end of the month, so we decided in January to have a look. I made tons of photos while having fun.

When I first saw the Stepped Cubes cut file, I thought it would be great to scrap this memory.

I cut the Stepped Cubes cut file from smooth white cardstock, and printed my photos in different sizes as I wanted to back some of the quadrangles with mini photos.

Then I started to back the cut file with patterned paper, I used a 6″x6″ paper pad of Pinkfresh Studio My Favourite Story collection.

When I was ready, I glued the cut file with foam adhesive on a patterned paper of the same collection. I added some flowers from the cut outs, my title, comment, enamel dots, and even used some stamps.

I hope you like my inspiration. Go to the shop and grab the new cut files from the March Release! They are awesome! 🙂

Waiting for Sunny Days | Piroska Czako-Radvanyi

Hi there, Piroska is here today with my latest layout. As you know, I just love leaves in scrapbooking, so I immediately fell in love with the beautiful Lots of Leaves cut file.

I really like the colours of the Looking for Sunshine paper of the Pinkfresh Studio My favourite story collection. I decided to cut my leaves from that paper, making it a bit ombre by arranging the cut file so that it reaches 2 similar colours. This way are the leaves 3″ tall.

I cut 12 leaves, 3 in each colour combo, but for the layout I used 10 of them. On a single white cardstock they looked a bit pale. I didn’t want to use watercolours this time, so I chose the Joyful Heart paper with those rainbow and (almost) the same colours as my leaves.

And it was time to play: I put my photo which I matted before with several patterned papers on the left rainbow above. I used many flower cut outs and my digital cut leaves to frame my photo – it was made at Lake Balaton (Hungary), at the beginning of our holiday. The weather was not so good, not cold but not good enough for going to the beach. So that’s what my title is about, which I also framed by some leaves.

I hope you like my layout and could inspire you to use leaves on your works. Get over to the CUT to YOU shop and grab some leaves design, Gwen has made several beautiful cut files!

You are my Sunshine | Tamara Buckler

Hello lovely CTY friends,

My turn on the blog today to share a page that I was recently challenged to complete over at Cut to You HQ. We had HQ members choose a File for us to use and I was challenged to use the Sunshine Background Cut File.

This page is really special to me, as it focusses on a photo of my beautiful Mum in her youth. I lost my Mum when I was a young girl, and I don’t have a lot of photos of her, so it was really special to document this one.

I started this page by first cutting this file from white card stock and then cut it again from a piece of Pinkfresh patterned paper, using an internal offset to space out the rays inside the Cut File.

I rotated the file so that the rays were coming from the bottom of the page, distressed the inner pieces and then adhered it to a piece of CVS patterned paper.

To embellish the page, I clustered some Die Cuts from both CVS and Pinkfresh around my photo, and created my title using some thickers and puffy stickers from Crate Paper. The final touch was to splatter some gold Heidi Colour Shine gently around the page.

Thanks so much for stopping by today, make sure you join in over at Cut to You HQ so that you can challenge our DT next.

Tam xo

12 Days of Christmas Giveaway – Quilt Grid Three Day 11

Hey crafty friends, so we are nearly at the end of the Cut to You 12 days of Christmas GIVEAWAY! So many gorgeous free cut files.

Today I have some gorgeous Christmas cards to share using the fun Quilt Grid Tree cut file. Being a quilter I had to incorporate this into my card!IMG_1930I have used the 2018 PinkFresh Studio Christmas collection to create my cards. Firstly I cut two of the grid measuring 5×5 inches which I adhered to white card stock (I used wet glue and a cotton bud to do this). 27F1A6F9-EC45-47A8-9B2A-431C12E7809BI chose two colour/patterns to achieve my quilt pattern look. As I always do I used the ‘Release Compound’ function which also means you never waste paper and it always looks super precise and neat. You could create any pattern you wished and could use more colour/pattern combos.Untitled-4Once I was happy with the two patterns it was then time to embellish. I under embellished rather than over do it because of the ‘busy’ background I had created.Untitled-3I used foam tape to add some of the embellishments to create dimension which again is important if you have a ‘busy’ background.Untitled-5I chose contrasting colours for my embellishments so they did not get lost in the red and blue.Untitled-6And there you have it two super easy but visually eye catching cards that I am sure someone would love to receive.Untitled-2And you can have this cut file free yay! This cut file would be fantastic to use for any theme certainly not just Christmas!

12 Days of Christmas Giveaway – Merry Everything Day 10

Hello my creative friends and a big welcome to day 10 of our 12 Days Of Christmas Giveaway!  We have Melinda back on the blog today with some more Christmas inspiriaton for you all.

Today’s freebie is this fun Merry Everything cut file!

Last year for Christmas I decided our Christmas Card would include a photo of my little family so we donned some Christmas hats and headed up to my parents-in-law’s block. My father-in-law is quiet a good photographer so he picked the location on their block and got to snapping! This was the photo we ended up using and I realised that I hadn’t yet scrapped it so I figured “Merry Everything” was the perfect title to pair with it!

I haven’t done anything fancy to my title this time, I simply cut it on my Cameo in textured white cardstock. I did get my Cameo to do all the “hard” work of cutting the internal letters and you can see how that came happened in my video near the end of my post!

If you don’t do videos or are unsure of how to make this happen here’s a quick run down for you:
1. After you have cut the file right click and select “remove compound path” This will separate ALL of the pieces of the letters so you can move/delete/edit etc
2. Remove the complete outline of the cut file by clicking on it and then hitting delete on your keyboard (or right click, delete)
3. Using your mouse click on the pieces between the letters and again delete. You should be left with just the internal pieces of each letter
4. Use your mouse to select the all the letters and then go to the “offset” function in your silhouette software – it’s shaped like a star
5. While your cut file is selected use the arrows to change the offset around each letter until you think you have enough to allow you to back your letters without over hang. This amount will vary and it’s really down to personal preference
6. When you are happy with the offset amount, hit apply then you can delete your original internal pieces and cut your filling pieces!
I work on a PC so this is the keys I use and have never worked on a Mac so I can’t help with the exact instructions for that but I do hope this helps someone!

I dove into my Christmas Stash for this page and chose the Pink Fresh Studio “Holiday Wishes” collection from last year. I don’t have much of it but LOVE it! To back my cut file I used the “Season’s Greetings” pattern paper and then used the same paper again as a border for my whole page.

As you can see I have used a tonne of pink on my background which is not a “traditional” choice for Christmas but one of my all time favourite colour combos in navy and light pink. The pattern paper I used combines those 2 colours so I immediately jumped at the chance to use those. And I really feel that softer pink really makes my photo and title pop!

I have included my whole process for the background in my video but the layers from bottom to top are pink mist painted on, splatters in pink, red and gold, white tissue paper with red “ho ho ho” all over it and finally more splatters in the same 3 colours.

I’ve kept the embellishing pretty simple here, I didn’t want to cover up much of anything lol I did 2 lines of straight machine stitching in gold around both the white card stock and the photo. I’ve added a very fine border of the “Very Merry” pattern paper behind my photo and also included a little vellum envelope behind my photo. The envelope is for me to add in the rest of the photos that were taken that day.

I have another process video for you today, just click below to play! I hope you enjoy and it inspires you to get your Christmas on!

12 Days of Christmas Giveaway – Holly Baubles Day 2

Hey Everyone! Welcome to Day 2 of our 12 Days of Christmas Giveaway!

Our file for today is Holly Baubles.

IMG_1929

Rachel  has combined it with the fun Happy Times title cut file available in store now.  Her stunning page is below.

IMG_4451

I have used the new Christmas collection by Pebbles Inc Merry Little Christmas.

Untitled-8I have used white card stock as my base cutting it at 10×10 inches as I wanted a solid border to show off the gold dots.

I cut three of this cut file but only used five carefully cutting off the extra one. I then paper pieced them (using the Release Compound function on my Silhouette Cameo). I added a row of machine stitching to add definition to the hanging string. I then added word sentiment banners to the top of three of them (rule of thirds) with a brad.9EADEBC1-F3EC-458F-A635-93E24C5B8DEC

I then cut my title in white and added with touches of wet glue, in the centre of slightly over the baubles. I cut the letters in a patterned paper and used foam tape to attach creating a 3D effect and ensuring my title really stood out!2BB81A57-9ED8-43A4-B92B-D07F5348138A

I added my photo directly under my title and again attached with foam tape.

6027DD1E-B1A7-4658-8BCE-2D1E3E4777ABThen for the fun part, embellishing! I added embellishments to each side of the title which helps draw your eye to it.

5DFB9026-8117-48C2-BE1B-AF120D0835B5Some I tucked under the title and others I added foam tape all adding height to my layout.CD9335C5-62A9-4F0A-A0AB-60DE18ED9E64Under my photo I added a sub title banner  and holly die cut which frames it of sorts.58788DF8-36F2-4A05-8843-DDC9EBDCC6E8Simply enter the code:  HOLBAUBLE  to get this design for free.

One of a Kind | Tamara Buckler

Hello CTY friends,

It feels like it’s been a while since I shared a layout with you all, so I’m please to be back with this pretty little number!

I’ve used the Wedding Cake Cut File to document this photo of my daughters 10th Birthday Cake.

I loved the whimsical look of this Cut File, so I went with soft and dreamy papers from Pink Fresh Studio to back the file.

I backed each portion of the cake and flowers separately and then popped the whole thing up on foam tape.

It was a little tricky to embellish this page, as I didn’t want to cover up the beautiful Cut File. So I worked to keep my clustering tight around my photo and tucked a few other bits under the edges of the Cut File.

This is a pretty simple page overall, but I think the gorgeous and whimsical Cut File does all the work for me!

Make sure you pop over and check out the CUT to YOU Shop to see all the new release Cut Files, or jump over to CUT to YOU HQ for stacks of inspiration!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Big Loves
