Autumn Walks | Kirei Baldwin

Hi CUT to YOU fans! Kirei here with my latest layout using the new Autumn Acorns cut file which you can find here in the shop. It is just perfect for my photo of us out on our regular walks around our local area during Autumn, love the trees changing colour!

I cut the Autumn Acorn cut file quite large as I wanted to make it a feature on my layout.

I backed all of of the cut file with patterned paper raised on sticky foam pads. But then wanted to really emphasise the acorns so filled the inner with lots of tiny gold star sequins and gold flat backed pearls. Love the sparkle it adds!

For my background I trimmed down a sheet of white cardstock, distressed the edges and stuck to a dark green patterned paper frame. Then I added a few stitches around each edge.

I sprayed a fine rose gold mist over the background so that it wasn’t too white on white.

From here it was pretty quick…. mounted my photo on a couple of coordinating patterned papers then stuck down with a couple of tags popping out of the top.

I added just a few leaf embellishments from Paige Evans Bungalow Lane collection, it didn’t really need much more as the cut file was like one large embellishment!

Then I finished off with my title and journaling.

HELLO NYC | CIRCLE GARLAND CUT FILE | NENASCRAP

Hi CUT TO YOU friends,

It’s NenaScrap back with you today to share a new fall layout featuring the fabulous Circle Garland Cut File.

I cut the cut file twice with my Silhouette Cameo : once in white cardstock and a second time in printed paper, keeping only the outer edges. This way I was able to back my cut file very easily by superimposing the 2 cuttings. I love the it looks !!!

I used the pretty fall collections Bungalow Lane by Paige Evans and Peaceful Heart by Jen Hadfield.
I cut a circle in the center of the Bungalow Lane #12 printed paper. I used my cut file as a template for this.

I glued a white cardstock behind my printed paper which forms with the Circle Garland cut file like a frame on the white background. I glued my cut file with 3D foam squares to add volume.

The cut file being in 2 parts, I hid the gap between the 2 with my photo on the right and my embellishment cluster on the left. This gives the effect of a wreath of leaves.

I used Bungalow Lane die-cuts and epoxy stickers as embellishments. I love the beautiful fall colors in this collection, which goes perfectly with the Circle Garland cut file and the photo of my kids during our trip to NYC in 2014.

You can find the video process of this layout on my YouTube channel :

I hope you like this layout and that it inspires you.
Thank you for stopping by.

Have a happy crafty day.

Hugs & Kisses from France.

Grateful Heart | Kirei Baldwin

Hi CUT to YOU fans! Kirei here with a new layout using this fab Beaded Circle cut file which you can find here in the shop. I wanted to use it as a central focus and then add my clusters to the top and bottom so you can still see the pretty cut file.

I teamed the cut file up with the lovely Cocoa Vanilla Studio ‘These Days’ collection which was just perfect with my photos and the message I wanted to say.

I coloured the Beaded Circle cut file using Distress Oxides blending them in one to the other. Once I was happy I then painted over it with a super sparkly clear ink which doesn’t show up that well in the photos but it has the prettiest glittery look to it!

I added two small square photos to the top left that I had mounted onto white tissue paper which just added a soft layer between the photo and background.

Then I built up a cluster around the photos using the coordinating ephemera, puffy stickers and gold glitter hearts. I added some matching sequins from my stash to add more sparkle!

Then I created another cluster to the bottom with the matching embellishments and a title using the foam title stickers.

Get Your Witchy On | Halloween 2 cut file | Tarrah McLean

Hi creative friends,

It’s Tarrah back with you and today I am sharing……..yes another spooky Halloween layout! I chose to cut out the Halloween 2 cut file from one of the plain patterned papers in the Crate Paper Hey Pumpkin paper pad. I then adhered the cut file using my trusty Nuvo glue on to the orange spotted paper, I love the contrast of the white against the orange. Very effective. I trimmed the orange patterned paper down slightly on one side and the top and adhered it to the black cardstock.

Halloween 2 cut file

You can see in the photo above that I didn’t adhere the web cut file down completely, how you can tell is the shadow that you can see where the cut file lifts up off the page slightly. I love dimension and shadows on a layout! Don’t you?! I decided to place my photo on the right portion of the page and placing my embellishments and title in a horizontal design across the page.

The Halloween 2 cut file was perfect to go with my photo as the photo is of me with a Halloween Snapchat filter, aren’t those web eyes cool?! I pulled out a few bits and pieces from a few different Halloween collections including some chipboard, stickers and ephemera. I wanted to keep most of the outside of the web cut file free of embellishments, choosing to only add the 31 chipboard piece at the top and some sprinkles of black mist. I also stamped the date stamp and freehand drew a black outline around the outside of the layout using a black pen.

Thanks so much for stopping by the CUT to YOU blog today! I hope you enjoyed my layout as much as I enjoyed creating it?! Check out all the Halloween cut files in the CUT to YOU store, I am certain there is something there for your next Halloween project!

Happy creating!

Tee Time | Kirei Baldwin

Hi CUT to YOU fans! For my latest layout I’m using the Rock Star cut file that you can find here in the shop. I think it is a a really versatile cut file that can be used for all sorts of photos…. so it was perfect for the photo of my husband and his best mate playing golf on a weekend away, they are superstars after all!

Firstly I backed the large star on the cut file using a patterned paper from my stash, and then backed all the other stars using vellum. Both the patterned paper and vellum were raised on foam pads to add dimension.

I cut my white cardstock down to 11 1/2″ (29cm) and distressed the edges and then stuck it to a patterned paper frame. Then I placed the Rock Star cut file onto the background and once I was happy with the position I roughly marked in pencil where it sat so that I could add my mixed media in the right place! I used three different Distress Oxides inks that coordinated with the checked patterned paper and applied them using the packaging technique in the three areas that would show beneath the small stars of the cut file. Once it was dry I added splatters of the same coloured inks and once that was dry I then splattered it all over with white paint.

I also added splatters to some of the small inner stars from the cut file so that they coordinated with the smooshy background.

Once it was all dry I stuck down the backed Rock Star cut file. I then added the individual stars (after distressing the edges) curving up the points slightly and only sticking them down in the centres.

Then I added my square photo that had been mounted to another coordinating patterned paper.

I added a number of word embellishments around the photo but it didn’t need much as I wanted to showcase the cut file and mixed media background. A few Bramble Fox star Perspextives of matching colours were added in and around the cut file stars.

And of course I finished off with a title and some journaling.

Happy Halloween | Tarrah McLean

Hi creative friends!

It’s Tarrah back with you today to share a new Halloween themed layout. I chose the awesome Happy Halloween title cut file enlarging it slightly in the Silhouette Studio software and cutting it out from light blue cardstock for something a little different.

Happy Halloween cut file

I teamed the cut file with the Goosebumps collection by Pretty Little Studio, backing the Happy word with one patterned paper and the Halloween word with another. I then adhered the cut file to a grid style patterned paper background. I tucked my photo in to the top right of the cut file overlapping the Halloween word at the bottom.

On the web part of the cut file, I layered a colourful web die-cut and a punched out circle word on top of the web using foam tape. I added a few enamel dots around the page and also some stickers and phrases to help tell the story. I love to overlap embellishments on top of cut files as it draws focus and adds interest.

I kept the embellishing fairly simple on this layout as I felt the cut file makes a great statement on my page and I did not want to cover it up. A Halloween page would not be complete without a spider added, the die-cut one at the top of the page fits in so well as it balances with the web at the bottom of the cut file.

Do you normally document Halloween? If so make sure you check out the CUT to YOU store for all the amazing Halloween cut files for your crafting!

The Best | Kirei Baldwin

Hi CUT to YOU fans! I’m sharing a layout using one of the newer cut files from the September release called ‘Sundae’ which you can find here in the shop…. it was just perfect to go with this photo of me and a rather large bubble waffle sundae!

I decided to use up some of the July Hip Kit Club kit that I had in my stash and used some of the patterned papers to back the cut file, using foam pads to create dimension.

I used white cardstock for my background and trimmed it down so that I could add a black patterned paper frame to it, which I then machine stitched a border in white thread.

I used a pink distress oxide to add a background using the packaging technique and when that was dry I added some stencilled hearts around the edges of the inky background. Then I finished off with some splatters of mint green shimmery watercolours.

Then I attached my fun Sundae cut file to the background and and added my photo which I mounted using a mix of patterned papers.

I added a large embellishment cluster to the right of my photo and then dotted around some sequins and small flat backed pink pearls.

I finished off with some journaling and a pretty pink title to match my sundae!

Autumn Leaves | Kirei Baldwin

Hi CUT to YOU fans! I’m here today with a layout using one of the fab new releases called Fall Leaf Circle which you can find here in the shop. I combined it with the autumnal Paige Evans ‘Bungalow Lane’ collection and some photos from last year showing all the glorious leaf colours we saw as we went on our daily walks.

I backed the cut file with one of the papers that has lots of different patterned squares on it so was perfect as the patterns were smaller and just right for the each of the leaves!

Then I prepared my white cardstock background my covering the edges with a piece of paper so that just a sort of elongated circle was left in the middle and then added lots of splatters using shimmery paints to match the colours in the patterned papers.

Because I didn’t want the cut file to be too hidden behind my photos I cut it in half which meant only a small part was covered. I stuck that down to the background using sticky foam pads to add dimension and then added lots of small jewel embellishments from my stash. I had some of the fab autumn leaf Bramble Fox Perspextives in my stash and these went perfectly added in around the cut file.

I mounted each of my photo in a colour to coordinate with the photo and then distressed the edges slightly, as this allows them to stand out a little more when layered up. Then I added these to my layout with more sticky foam pads.

To finish off I added a title using the coordinating ‘Bungalow Lane’ alphas which I stuck onto some of the dark navy patterned paper so they stood out above the cut file, along with some other gold Thickers from my stash.

Sweet Friends | Kirei Baldwin

Hi CUT to YOU fans! I’m sharing my first layout for August and this time I’m using the lovely Rosey Posey Polaroid cut file as a background piece…. you can find it here in the shop! I thought it was perfect to go with the pretty Maggie Holmes ‘Garden Party’ collection.

I firstly painted the cut file with soft shimmery pink and sparkly green watercolours. Once it was dry I backed the rose and leaves with vellum and the polaroid element with a floral patterned paper. I love the delicate look the vellum gives to the cut file, and still allows the background to peep through.

Then I used the packaging technique to add more of the pink watercolour to an 11″ x 11″ white cardstock background and when that was dry added pink and gold splatters. I stitched that down onto a 12″ x 12″ black and white zig zag patterned paper frame.

I added stick foam pads to the back of the polaroid part of the cut file and stuck it down to the background, before adding my square photo that was mounted onto one of the patterned papers.

There was a fab floral paper that I fussy cut a couple of large pink flowers from and then tucked them under both sides of my photo. They were only stuck down in the centres so that I could curl up the petals for added dimension.

Then I went through the matching embellishments and added house, butterfly, cupcake and bow stickers, puffy floral and heart stickers, gold glitter epoxy hearts and a word banner.

To finish off I added a title using the coordinating word Thickers and alpha stickers and popped some journaling just to the right side of the layout.

CUT to YOU | “Hey Bestie” | Melinda Sweetman

Hey and hello CUT to YOU friends!!! Melinda back again today and no, you are not going crazy!!
I do indeed have another layout share using the same cut file which also happens to be my page title!!

Again, I’m using the “Hey Bestie” cut file from the store.

If you don’t remember my last page here it is again and I’m using the “left overs” to create this page!

The insides of my letters were too beautiful to ditch so I immediately cut the title once again using textured white cardstock and used some foam tape to pop up all of the pretty letters.

I wanted this page to look and feel different to my last one so straight away decided I was going to use some different supplies; but still Heidi Swapp goodies. This time from the Storyline Chapters collection. And to not use any mixed media!!

I’ve pulled out another of my newly printed photos with one of my other besties and started layering up the photo, cut file and patterned papers.

For some extra detail and texture I have stitched around my photo and my 3 biggest patterned paper layers, bending up the edges of all the papers.

I ended up with a more vertical design on this page and decided to a) use a tag behind my photo to house my journaling and b) work with 3 main embellishments clusters that follow that vertical line down the page.

I cannot express just how much I ADORE that yellow patterned paper in my background so I made sure to bring that to the foreground of my layout also.

My finishing touch was some little black gems that I scattered on a loose diagonal (but almost vertical) from the top left cluster to the bottom right and added in some white glitter enamel hearts.

As always, I have a process video for you, just hit that play button below and I do hope that you enjoy!!

Here is a quick look at my layouts side by side!

If you didn’t know I’d used the same cut file you’d never know!! I just love that about digital cut files!!

When you are shopping take a look and think “how can I use this cut file multiple times/ways” before you purchase.
The best thing is, even if can’t come up with anything right now you can cut and use the file as many times as you like after you own it!!!

I hope you’ve enjoyed my share today.
Did you notice that this isn’t the only cut file I’ve used more than once???
I hope you have a fab, scrappy day and I’ll see you back here on the blog later this month!
Mel x
