Day Out | Kirei Baldwin

Hi CUT to YOU fans! It’s Kirei with you today sharing my layout using a funky floral cut file called Spring Tulip that you can find here in the shop. I’ve been wanting to use it for a while and as I had this photo of me and my husband visiting some local gardens for my birthday thought it would be perfect!

I wanted the cut file to be the main feature so cut it out large enough from white cardstock so that it would fill my layout. I then backed it with some lovely bright patterned papers which really make it pop!

Then I decided that I wanted to add a border to the white cut file so that it stood out from my white cardstock background so I drew around it and cut out a base from a coordinating soft pink paper that I then stitched with black thread… now it really stood out well!

CutToYou_KireiBaldwin_DayOut_layoutA_Aug2020f

I stuck the cut file onto my 11″ x 11″ white cardstock that I had stitched using black thread to a brightly coloured patterned paper frame.

My photo is mounted onto a few coordinating patterned papers and then added to the layout by just tucking the bottom corner under the cut file.

I fussy cut some large, bright flowers and leaves that I used to embellish around my photo and in the bottom right of the layout. Then I added some puffy stickers, word stickers and sequins.

To finish off I wrote my journaling to the right of the layout using a black fine liner pen and added a small title just above my photo.

Oh So Happy|Sara Scraps

Hello Everyone! Sara with you today to share a new layout featuring the new August releases from the Cut To You Shop!

I started my layout by creating an easy watercolor background to give it the look of a blue sky.

I started my layout by backing my cut files. I chose to work with two of the new releases- Oh So Happy and Orchid Bloom .

I embellished my layout with just few little touches. You don’t need a lot of embellishment when you are using multiple cut files- just a couple of small touches. I chose small die cuts, wood veneer, and some little clear bubbles to enhance my photo.

I added some inking to the bottom of the Orchid Blooms cut file. It gives the cut file a bit of extra dimension and POP! I just love how this whole layout came out. Fun, bright, and sweet! Perfection! You can check out all the fun details in my process video below and dont forget to swing by the shop HERE to get some new cut files for your August crafting adventures!

Have A Lovely Day!

For The Record | Melinda Sweetman

Hello CUT to YOU family and welcome to the blog today! I’m excited to be sharing my first project for August with you!

As you can see I’ve used the fun new “Office Clips” cut file. I’ve cut 5 of these on textured white cardstock after I altered them a tiny bit to make them like Instax prints.

On a whim I had also cut this “For The Record” title to fill the empty space on my white cardstock and then decided that it would work perfectly for the title for this page!

I’ve used the Shimelle “Never Grow Up” collection for this page and I really love the fun, kinda whimsy look of my finished page. You can see this come together on my YT video which is linked below!

And to finish off, here are a few close up shots!

I hope you have enjoyed my share today and I can’t wait to come back later in the month with my next page which I am already working on!! Until then, head over to the shop here for the awesome new August releases and make sure you sign up to the newsletter for the twice a month freebies!!

Happy scrapping,

Hello CTY friends,

It feels like forever since I have shared a page with you! Today I’m back to share a fun layout using the Create Title Cut File.

I have gone for high impact and lots of contrast with this page. I started by cutting the Cut File from black cardstock, and then backing it with a rainbow of patterned papers. Backing the file took quite a bit of time – so I suggest if you can use your cutting machine to cut the inside pieces out – I would!

I popped the Cut File up on some fun foam, and adhered it to the middle of my white card stock. I then layered some patterned paper behind my photo and mounted it to the right hand side of the cut file.

I was mindful not to over embellish the page, as I didn’t want to take away the impact of the Cut File. So I tucked a fussy cut floral piece around my photo, added a Charms Creations heart and popped a little flair badge on top (excuse the little rude word 🙊).

I added a bit of subtitle to my page, making the whole title say ‘create a life you love’. I thought this was particularly apt considering this photo was taken on my first day of working from home during COVID lockdown.

Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you are all doing well. Make sure you pop by the CUT to YOU shop and check out the latest release files, I can’t want to share these with you in the coming weeks!

And So The Adventure Begins | Tarrah McLean

Hi everyone,

It’s Tarrah back with you on the CUT to YOU blog! Today I have a new layout to share inspired by the CSI Challenges case file no. #327. If you know me, you will know that I absolutely LOVE to travel. I have been very fortunate to have traveled a fair bit already so I have lots of memories to document.

Each month CUT to YOU sponsors the challenges over at CSI, there are always awesome prizes up for grabs so make sure you check all the case files out, I am sure you will find something to inspire you and get creating!

Case File No. 327

I was inspired by the travel theme and the colours of this case file. I chose to cut out the awesome ‘ADVENTURE BEGINS’ cut file from white cardstock first. I then backed the openings of the block letters in red cardstock. I then added craft foam underneath the entire cut file and adhered it down to the plain white cardstock background. As I was constructing my layout, you can see in my close up photo below that I decided to make the word ‘Begin’ stand out more so I inked the word in black ink. As this word has the washi tape underneath it, I am glad I chose to ink the word.

Adventure Begins cut file

Title cut files like this one are great as they pretty much decide the design of your page for. As there was the space on the right of the title, this was the perfect place to add my photo and the layers under my photo. I used some red and black striped pockets for my layers and also a small Kraft envelope.

I added some travel wood veneer pieces including the globe one over the top of the ‘O’ in ‘So’. I also added a super cute red peg, a black arrow paper clip, a red resin star and a black and white fabric bow. On the right of my photo, I added a Charm’s handmade fabric star and layered a travel flair over the top of the star.

Lastly I added a few travel phrase stickers and a date tab at the top of the red and white stripe pocket at the top. I also trimmed down the white cardstock and framed the entire layout with a Kraft cardstock.

Thanks for stopping by the CUT to YOU blog today. Make sure you check out all the AMAZING cut files in the CUT to YOU store!

Happy August! Today I’m sharing a layout featuring the Leaf Cluster cut file. My daughter did a photo shoot with my granddaugher and I just love this photo.

I wanted to mix my style up a bit an leave the leaves open. I really love the end result and feel as if this decision creates a nice impact to this layout. I cut this in a few different sizes to add visual interest, which also creates impact.

Not much else to say other than showing several photos. Fussy cut flowers and a few extra details complete this layout.

Hi y’all! I tend to gravitate towards the floral designs, so selecting the super fun July 2020 Circles Sliced Background cut file was a little out of my comfort zone, but I have to say that I love how this layout turned out!

XCirclesSliced

I just had to use this file as soon as I saw it and once I decided upon a photo and the paper, everything fell togther easily.

My son-in-law recently took my granddaughter fishing and this photo of their special moments caught my heart.

savingPNG - Copy (17)

I pulled in the fish theme as well as colors from the photo. Adding several patterns keeps this layout fun and interesting.

savingPNG - Copy (19)

I added some die cuts to create some visual interest and to add dimension.

savingPNG - Copy (18)

Some clear thread creates an illusion of fishing line which adds to the overall theme of the page.

savingPNG - Copy (20)

Keeping the photo matting simple by using two layers of vellum is a simple way to add focus to the photo, but doesn’t distract from all the patterns.

I hope you step out of your comfort zone with your next cut file purchase! The end result just might turn out to be one of your favorites, just as this is mine.

Check out the CTY store for all the fabulous files.

See you next month!

Happy Play | Tarrah McLean

Hi everyone!

It’s Tarrah back with you today to share a new layout featuring the awesome Triangle Banners cut file! This cut file is a free one only included the newsletter so make sure you are subscribed!

I started out by cutting out the banner cut file from white cardstock. I then chose a few bright and happy patterned papers to back the triangle banners with. Once the banners were all backed, I machine stitched along the tops of the banners using white thread.

I wanted the banners to pop up off the page so I added craft foam underneath. I chose a plain black cardstock background for something different, I arranged the banners how I liked them on the page and then adhered them. You will notice I also included 2 white tiny pegs at the top left and the bottom right. The great thing with this banner cut file is the banners are all joined so its easy to place on your page!

I added a cardstock frame over the top of my photo and adhered it down with craft foam. I created a focal point with the photo over to the right of the page, I added some embellishments here and the title is under the photo also.

The super cute tiny black and white bow I have had for the longest time! I was so glad to be able to add this to my page! I created two other smaller embellishment clusters on the page also, I kept these small as I did not want to cover up all the banner goodness!

Lastly I added the date stamp and some splatters of white mist to my page. I love how the bright colours and the triangle banners look against the black!

Thanks so much for stopping by the CUT to YOU blog today! Don’t forget that to receive free cut files each month, you need to be subscribed to the newsletter, you can subscribe here.

Happy Birthday | Kirei Baldwin

Hi everyone! Kirei back with my second layout for the month and I am using another one of this month’s new cut files and it’s the perfect one to go along with CUT to YOU‘s 2nd birthday celebrations this month! The cut file is the ‘Happy Birthday’ title cut file and was just right to use with these photo’s of my husband’s godson’s 11th birthday that was also this month! CutToYou_KireiBaldwin_HappyBirthday_layoutB_July2020_withfooterXHappyBirthdayTitle

I cut the ‘Happy Birthday’ title in white cardstock but also used the offset feature in Silhouette to create a solid mat for the title that I then cut out of one of the Cocoa Vanilla Studio ‘Legendary’ patterned papers.

CutToYou_KireiBaldwin_HappyBirthday_layoutB_July2020a

I wanted to add shaker pockets to some of the letters so to do this I added some clear plastic packaging to the back of the ‘B’, ‘R’ and ‘D’ before using thin strips of sticky backed foam to create a wall round each letter. I then filled each one with some sequins before adding the backing. Now I did actually back each one individually as that was easier than trying to attach the entire title mat on with the loose sequins!

CutToYou_KireiBaldwin_HappyBirthday_layoutB_July2020b

For my background I distressed an 11″ x 11″ piece of the ‘Legendary’ woodgrain paper and stuck that onto a frame of the ‘Legendary’ star paper. I then added the entire title to the layout using foam pads as I really wanted it to pop from the page.

I layered my photos onto some of the coordinating patterned papers from the collection and stuck them down using foam pads on the the top edge creating a cascading effect above the title.

CutToYou_KireiBaldwin_HappyBirthday_layoutB_July2020d

To finish off I added some of the matching ephemera, clear stickers, stickers and enamel dots to embellish the layout… and that was me done!

CutToYou_KireiBaldwin_HappyBirthday_layoutB_July2020c

I was also joining in with one of the two fun challenges to celebrate CUT to YOU’s 2nd birthday this month called ‘Two-Riffic’….

Two-Riffic

Anyone can join in, you just need to use a CUT to YOU cut file on your layout and add a pic of your layout to the relevant album on the CUT to YOU HQ Facebook page to be in with a chance of winning a prize!

Happy Scrapping!

Together | Tamara Buckler

Hello lovely CTY friends,

I hope you’ve had so much fun joining in with our 2nd Birthday celebrations this month! There has some amazing inspiration going around, and heaps of beautiful entries coming in for our challenges! I’m up on the blog today sharing my layout inspired by the moodboard challenge.

I quickly discovered I didn’t have any hot pink patterned paper in my stash, and this was my main inspiration from the mood board. I decided I needed to make my own, so I pulled out all the pink mixed media elements that I had, and set about making a background. I have also added in lots of black marks, to tie back to the black in the inspiration images.

I then used the new TN Circles Sliced Cut File, cutting it in black cardstock and mounting on foam tape.

For some reason, my mixed media is photographing as very orange, but I promise it’s hot pink! To tie this in with the Circles Sliced Cut File, I cut the background I had created into circles, and cascaded these down the page, before laying my Cut File over them.

I like to think of different ways to use our Cut Files, and including them in backgrounds like this or included with mixed media elements in a grungy sort of way is a little different from the norm.

To finish off my page, I added in my title, some embellishments, and some word strips. I also added some black ink splatters and black doodling to further add to the grungy feel of my page.

Thanks for stopping by today, can’t wait to share with you again next month!!
