CUT to YOU | Spring Floral Edge Cut File | Fur Mum | Melinda Sweetman

Hey and hello scrappy friends!!
Who else is in total shock that we are already in June?!? Where has the last 5 months disappeared to?
Anyway, Melinda here to share my latest creation with you and I do hope you enjoy!

I used the gorgeous “Spring Floral Edge” cut file for this one and I just love the way this came together!

I have duplicated and flipped the cut file in Silhouette Studio to create an almost 12″ vertical strip. When I was happy with the overlap of the 2 pieces I welded them together and cut them as a long vertical piece. I would love to take full credit for this idea but I cannot – I did see it somewhere else a couple of months ago but sadly cannot remember who’s it was!! But full credit to that incredible scrapper!! Thank you for your inspiration!

As you can see, after I cut the design I have carefully pieced it all back together. The negative pieces were stuck directly to my background while the floral/leaves were popped up on little pieces of foam to create this 3D look! So effective!!

I have picked the Cocoa Vanilla Studio “Sunkissed” collection to work with for this page. With that very colourful background I wanted to add some contrast so threw in a few pieces of black along with my title acrylic piece. I love the way the black makes everything pop.

I have kept my embellishing pretty simple with a few florals around my photo and title. I made sure to connect my floral pieces to the cut file to make it all work together.

I have a process video for you which is linked below! I. hope that you enjoy!

I really love how this cut file has become a part of the page background rather than the main focus. So often it’s a case of “look, there’s a cut file!!” it’s nice to do something a little different! And still so, so effective!

There are so, so many designs in the store that you could use this technique on, make sure you check them out! I particularly love the “Stained Glass 1” and the “Triangles Stacked” designs for this idea!!

Until next time friends, happy a scrappy day!

My Lovely Life |Spring Floral Edge | Rachel Lowe

Hello CTY friends, how gorgeous are this months new releases! I had a difficult time choosing which ones to use. I love the new Spring Floral Edge cut file and had to create wit this first up.IMG_8541

fullsizeoutput_56d9I have used the gorgeous Sweet Story collection by Crate Paper. I wanted this cut file to be the feature of my page especially as I have used a busy background paper. I attached off centre on my background page using white cardstock to cut the file.fullsizeoutput_56cbI then chose my colour combo, choosing a bright floral blue paper for the flowers an a pale pink for the leaves. To add texture to my layout I added machine stitching to the leaves. I added the flower petals with foam tape (except the flower centre) to add dimension and height. I also at this point added splatters of white paint across my page.fullsizeoutput_56c6I next attached my photo which I double matted so it did not get lost against my busy background. I further framed it with embellishments and my title ‘my lovely life’.fullsizeoutput_56c9

Now it was time to get out those pretty embellishments and make some clusters!

fullsizeoutput_56c8fullsizeoutput_56cafullsizeoutput_56c7I avoided adding floral embellishments as with this cut file you wouldn’t want to over do it with florals. With some of my embellishments I added with foam tape to create more height on my layout.fullsizeoutput_56cdI love how this turned out, modern, whimsical and the spring floral edge cut file is certainly the star of this layout (and the photo of my gorgeous daughter of course!). Make sure you head over to the shop to see all the gorgeous new August releases. Thank you for stopping by today and stay safe and well.
