I started by cutting the design from white cardstock and chose 3 different patterned papers from the Hello Summer collection by Cocoa Vanilla Studio to back the sun and words with. I knew I wanted to back the sun with the awesome yellow sunburst paper, I then chose 2 other contrasting papers.
Once it was all backed….yes this does take some time….I added craft foam underneath the entire cut file and adhered the whole piece to another patterned paper in the Hello Summer collection that I chose as my background paper. I love the shadows and dimension this gives to my layout.
I love title cut files like this one where the design of your page is decided for you! The obvious place to adhere my photo was at the top of the cut file, I layered a patterned paper underneath and also added a kite die-cut here.
Another thing I love to do is to layer embellishments over the top of cut files. I like how this draws your eye to certain parts of my page and helps tell the story. You can see I have added a flair button and a wood veneer piece to the ‘O’ in ‘Hello’. I also added a few things to the sun shape and a phrase die-cut piece on top of the word ‘Sunshine’.
A few more embellishments were added around the cut file design including another flair button, accessory stickers, enamel hearts and some floral die-cuts.

Hi everyone, it’s Tarrah McLean back with you and today I am sharing a new layout featuring the awesome Summer Days cut file title and some of the cute elements from the Summer Page Builder cut file. My layout share today is inspired by CSI challenge Case No. 322. CUT to YOU is one of the sponsors for the CSI challenges, so why not join in to be in the running to win free cut files?!
I started out by cutting the Summer Days title and the Summer page builder cut file all from white cardstock, I then backed them all with some of the pretty papers from the Sunny Days collection by Crate Paper. Once they were all backed, I added foam adhesive to the bottom of them all. I chose a super cute photo of my nieces in the pink Summer gear, it was perfect for this page as the CSI inspiration photo has lots of pink. I adhered my photo in the centre of the white cardstock background with some paper layers underneath. This then allowed me to work out where my title and cloud and sun elements were going to go.
One of the other inspirations I took from the CSI inspiration image were the pieces of fruit, I just had to include the pieces of chipboard fruit to the right of my photo. I think they look really cute there! I love to layer elements over the top of the cut files, as you can see in the detail photo below, I have added some stickers to the Summer Days title. In the detail photo above I added a phrase sticker to one of the clouds and a cute flair button to the centre of the sun.
On the left side of my photo, I added a phrase die-cut with a tag tucked in and some cherry chipboard pieces, I like how these balance with the citrus fruit on the right hand side. Below the title I added a title sticker, a smaller sticker and a heart sticker too. As you can see in the detail photo below, you can see how the title popped up on foam adhesive creates some shadows and gives dimension. I love how this looks on my page. Lastly I stamped the date stamp, I trimmed down the white cardstock background and adhered the cardstock to one of the blue and white stripe patterned papers from the Sunny Days collection.

Hello scrappy friends! I hope June finds you in good spirits! 🙂 The weather is just starting to warm up where I am located which is super exciting for me.
Today I’m sharing a layout created with two cut files- Scallop Banners and the Floral Boquet Set. I selected these two cut files along with the overall color scheme from the design of my granddaughters swimming suit.
I added small amounts of ink to the background to provide an illusion of water and then laid the scallop strips down randomly. A few stitches here and there add some dimension.
I then placed the backed cutfiles over the photo and finished off with some bright words and fun accents.
Doubling up on cut files is super fun and creates an extra exciting layout. I do hope you’ll try and share your work in the Cut to You HQ facebook group. 🙂
