Hello friends! I have a new layout that was inspired by the amazing Gwen Wruck! I chose to use the Spring Garden Bed cut-file to mimic the floral piece in Gwen’s layout.
I love the peachy-coral color in Gwen’s background against that pop of black. I think contrast between the coral, white and black accents really makes her layout feel vibrant and energetic! I also loved the way she used the floral cut file as a layer beneath the photo and embellishments. Another element that I really enjoyed on Gwen’s layout was the way she used the different phrase banners and strips around the page amongst the other layers. These are the elements that inspired me and got me started on my own layout.
For my background I chose a paper from Heidi Swapp’s Storyline collection within the coral/ peachy family like Gwen’s,
I used the Spring Garden Bed die cut as a layering piece beneath my photo and embellishments. I also used several word and phrase stickers scattered around the layout. Lastly, I really wanted to get some of that vibrant contrast from Gwen’s layout so I added a few pops of black around the page.
Although our layouts turned out very differently, I was able to use the inspiration from Gwen’s lovely layout and translate that into my own style. That is what I love about scraplifting! I hope you find some inspiration in my post today and that it becomes a starting point for your own layout!
Thanks for stopping by and checking out my post today! Have a wonderful, creative day!
Hello friends and welcome! I have a fun, new layout to share with you today using the Hello Sunshine cut file.
The weather in Texas is finally warm enough for a nice, relaxing day at the pool. My grandkids were so excited to finally go swimming and I was happy to snap some pool-side photos!
I am using Simple Stories Vintage Coastal collection for this layout. I cut the file on some textured white cardstock and backed it with one of the patterned papers from the collection. My background is very busy, so I went with a bright coral pattern for the sun and a lighter color for the the words. I also added some foam adhesive to the cut file to give it some dimension so it stood apart from the busy background. Lastly, I used a watercolor brush marker to add a little watercolor detail to the letters in the title and sun.
This collection has a lot of collage-type elements and so I decided to really play off of that design and use it to create two big clusters of embellishments on either side of the title and photo. I layered lots of stickers from the 12.x 12 sticker sheet and used foam adhesive to lift some of the elements and left some stuck flat to the page. I really think this “ collage feel” adds a lot of interest to the design.
Thanks for stopping by the blog today! I hope this layout gives you some warm, summer vibes and a little inspiration! Be sure to stop by the Cut to You blog and check out all the great summer themed cut files!
Hello Friends! Kelly here with a new layout of my grand-love, Carson. My daughter recently sent me pictures of him at the swimming pool with pure delight on his face. I knew the Splish- Splash Cut File would be perfect for this sweet photo!
I wanted a very organic, fluid feel to this page. So, I went full-on mixed media with this layout. I used gesso, inks, embossing powder, water soluable crayons, and Nuvo drops to get a liquid, watercolor vibe.
I also did some hand-stitching on each water droplet for a litte more defintion and texture.
I must say, I LOVE how this turned out! Using this cut file was my inspiration starting point and the entire creative journey of this layout was so fun! I have a process video if you would like to see the step-by-step process of how I created this layout.
