Together Again | Melinda Sweetman

Hello my fellow creatives and welcome to the CUT to YOU blog on this Tuesday morning! Melinda here with you sharing another scrapbook page that I created!

For this one I have used a Travellers Notebook cut file on a traditional 12×12 page and really love how versatile this TN Together Documented cut file is!

After deciding on my cut file I decided to work with a bit of a grid design for this page. I had these 2 photo’s of our bunny Olaf (the browner bunny) with his brother Milo from a recent few days they got to spend together. I really liked the way the 2 photos balanced the title.

I am incredibly inspired to bust through some of my stash at the moment so dove into an older collection that is one of my all time faves – Shimelle, True Stories. Pulling all of my pieces of this collection out I chose a pattern paper for my background and a colour I really wanted to focus on – the dark blue – and created my background with some acrylic paint and my brayer. With such a thin layer of paint I was able to go straight back in and add splatters in the dark blue and black.

While that dried I have pulled patterns from the 6×6 paper pad and some cut aparts (mostly scraps now!!) to back my title. For this process I flipped my cut file and my paper over, traced around the outside of the letter, trimmed the letter and then stuck that to the cut file, trimming any excess where necessary.

With the bulk of my page now ready to go I added a couple of layers behind each of my photos – again using mostly scraps from this collection and adding some foam to both the photos and the title. These were then ready to be adhered to my now dry background.

I added some pink puffy alphas to my title to complete it and added 2 embellishments clusters; one to the top left of the title and one in the middle of the 2 photos on the right. I finished my page off with some journalling in a white pen and also lots of white splatters.

I hope that me sharing this page with you has made you see how easy it is to use cut files in perhaps a way that it is not specifically designed for!! You can find this title here in the store and you can find all of the Traveller’s Notebook files here in the store – I’d love to see you create something other than a TN page with one of these fun files!! You can, of course, see my process video below and I do hope you enjoy!

Thanks for stopping by the CUT to YOU blog today and I’ll see you again later in the month! Until then, happy scrapping and make sure you drop into HQ on FB and share YOUR creations with us and all the other CTY fans there!

Fun Memories | Tamara Buckler

Hello CTY peeps!

I’m back today sharing another fun layout with you! For this layout I have used the TN Heart Banner Cut File to create a scrapbook page!

I cut the file using black card stock and the used a white gel pen to trace around the Cut File. I added some white gesso to my background behind where the Cut File would be positioned.

I randomly backed some of the hearts, adding foam tape behind these. I then secured the end of each strip to the page with wet glue. This variation in height gave a sense of movement.

I laid my photo partially over the Banners, and then embellished in random spots. I didn’t go too heavy with embellishments as I didn’t want to cover too much of the Cut File or make the page too busy.

Make sure you pop over to the shop to check out our March releases, there’s some super cute ones in there this month!

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my layout!

Big Loves

TOGETHER FOREVER | GWEN WRUCK

Hi Creative Friends,

Gwen with you on the blog today with a new share using my very first Travelers Notebook cut file!  I’ve made a stack of these for the TN peeps out there, (you can shop them here) and always said, these are great for scrapbooking too and today I thought I’d show you!  This photo was taken at my wedding 18 years ago and from memory is the 2nd or 3rd wedding photo I’ve scrapbooked.

I started with the ‘TN Together Documented‘ cut file and resized it quite large knowing I was working with a 6×4 photo.  I’ve backed the design with pretty paper from Cocoa Vanilla Studio ‘Midnight‘ Collection, it really is beautiful for Wedding photos.  I went with a darker paper to fill the hearts in the design and something lighter and soft for the letters.

I’ve then backed my photo with just a single mount for this one and stitched around the edge as I normally would.  I’ve also added 3D foam behind for added dimension and then decided on the position of the cut file and the photo.  I like to nut out this part of the design early so that I have a direction for the page.

Next up, I’ve pulled out some co-ordinating embellishments, most of these from the Die Cut Ephemera pack of the collection as well as my foam Thickers.  I decided to add to the ‘Together’ in my cut file to make the title ‘Together Forever’.

I’ve now added in some more floral elements and this cute navy bow.  I’ve worked in my usual loose, flowing clusters to help draw the eye around the page and finished it off with this sweet flair from Felicity Jane.

And that was the page done AND as you can see, even though it is a Traveler’s Notebook design as such, it is also perfect for layouts.  The rectangle format would also work super well with the 9 1/2 x 11 size, so if you love those, the TN designs are for you!

Thanks for popping by today,

Until next time,

Guest Designer Mandy Miles

Hey Creatives!

Gwen back with you on the blog today sharing the second part of our special Guest designer Traveler’s Notebook feature!  As I mentioned yesterday, I’ve invited papercrafts dynamic duo Sue Plumb and Mandy Miles to share some of their latest Traveler’s Notebook spreads with us; so if you missed Sue’s share yesterday, be sure to catch that one too.

Today, you are in for a treat because Mandy has created three spreads and they are all fabulous.  First up, this super cute spread with her darling puppy featuring our ‘TN Heart Banner‘ cut file.

I just love how she has taken the time to back each heart in a different colour to create a pattern that coordinates with the colours in her photos.  So sweet!

Next up, we have a more geometric style design, this one featuring our ‘TN Faded Grid‘ file cut from white cardstock and then coloured in a funky grey using watercolours.  The beauty of our custom cuts is that they are all cut on white card, meaning you can colour or emboss to whatever colour you’d like.

I love how Mandy has used the top part on the left of her spread and the bottom on the right side of her spread, and the files work as the base for her embellishment clusters, it really helps everything come together for a cohesive look.

Last, but not least,  she’s pulled out the bold colours of America to document her trip with the ‘Together Documented‘ file.  You might also recognise the red heart in I heart NY and around her spread?… They are the insides of the hearts from the heart banner she used in her first spread, simply coloured red… very clever!

How cool does the file look over the top of this aerial view of the city!  Here you can really see how they work in the rectangle format for this style of creating.

I hope you have enjoyed the pages Sue and Mandy have shared, I love how very different they are, and how they have shown off the designs.  If you are a TN lover, I’d love to see your pages in the HQ group, or simply tag us #cuttoyou AND you can catch all of our Traveler’s Notebook designs here.

A big thank you to Sue and Mandy for joining us this month!

Until next time,

Guest Designer Sue Plumb

Hey Creatives!

I hope you are all doing well!  Gwen with you on the blog today with a special Guest designer Traveler’s Notebook feature!  I’ve invited papercrafts dynamic duo Sue Plumb and Mandy Miles to share some of their latest Traveler’s Notebook spreads with us and I just love what they have put together.   To date, we have over 30 different TN designs; each has been created specifically for the format of a standard Traveler’s Notebook and as you’ll see over the next two days, they really take a TN spread to the next level!

First up, Sue has created this SUPER fun spread using our ‘Superhero Page Builder‘ cut file.  Now, this one is not technically one of our TN designs, however, as you can see, it works so fabulously on this spread!  There are so many pieces to this file, and they can be sized to fit a TN so easily.

Sue has cut the elements from the file in black cardstock which really makes it pop off her spread!  This effect also means you don’t have to spend the time backing the files and that extra layer of paper adding bulk to your notebook.  I love how she has combined that black with the super bright red and yellow, definitely worthy of her twin Superheros!

See all of the Traveler’s Notebook designs here and be sure to pop back tomorrow to see what her sister Mandy makes!

Until next time,

Happy B’Day | Bernii Grof

Hi there,

Bernii here with you today to share with you a new Travellers Notebook spread in my beloved TN that I picked up from IKEA. I love using this size and and format to memory keep in as the pages come together faster for me and more memories get recorded. So let me show my latest spread in my TN using the TN Speech Bubble cut file.

IMG_6209

I love this cut file and originally had the idea that I would use each speech bubble with some journaling of random tidbits from the day. Instead I decided to use it as a layering piece on the left hand side of the spread and teamed it with the new Pink Fresh collection ” Just a little lovely”.

IMG_6212

I love the extra layering piece that it gives to the spread and I still managed to get some journaling completed in a few of the bubbles. I decided to decorate over the the two pages and help balance out with the acetate gold foiled ephemera .

CTYTNSpeechBubble

Is this not one of the sweetest TN cut files you have seen?  I decided  not to back the cut file as I normally would as it was just a beautiful and subtle touch.

Travellers Notebook | Fun in the Sun | Rachel Lowe

Hello CTY friends today is all about travellers notebooks. I am a huge fan of them as they are a quick way to document and journal whilst still keeping it pretty! I have used the TN Fun in the Sun cut file to create my spread.

IMG_1044

I cut two of the sun rays, but the second I flipped horizontally using the MIRROR function on my Silhouette Cameo, this way I could create a double page TN spread. I cut it in white cardstock and adhered straight into my TN notebook.

I chose two colours to create the sun rays (I have used Maggie Holmes Sunny Days) and used the Release Compound Path to seperate the rays to be cut, this is a quick and accurate way to paper piece cut files.

I sized the title Fun in the Sun title to fit my page, cut in white cardstock and then used a light pink paper to paper piece and added with foam tape to add dimension.

I then added my photo and embellished to draw your eye to it. I again added with foam tape.

I typed some journalling and added them to the rays.

It is amazing how much you can fit onto a TN page, and like me if you make it a double spread it really is like a mini layout.

GO, SEE, DO | Marie Hirst

Hi Guys,

So this is a first for me – my first EVER traveler’s notebook and I love it! I used the TN Go, See, Do cutfile as this was the perfect statement for the first spread as this notebook is going to document our recent family holiday. You can find the cutfile here in the CUT to YOU shop.

The first thing I did was resize the cutfile so that it would fit easily on my page (4 inches across) and then backed it using papers from the Out and About Collection from Pinkfresh Studio.

I then embellished the page with various pieces of ephemera from the same range, sticking to the greeny-blue colours and the yellows.

On the opposite page, I used more of the papers from the Out and About range and I added small photographs of various places we had seen on our holiday, some more ephemera and some puffy alphas to spell out the name of where we had been (which only just fit on the page – more luck than judgement here!)

The spread was finished off with various travel-themed stamped images.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope this inspires you! Remember, there are lots of cutfiles suitable for traveler’s notebooks in the shop which you can find here. Enjoy!

Until next time,

Marie x
